OITNB SEASON 5 Spoiler Thread

This is the thread for Orange is the New Black for those of us who have seen it all and want to discuss.

If you haven't yet watched all of the series, on your own head be it if you read.

I'm just trying to work up the energy to watch from the beginning for the 3rd time.

I love S2 with Vee & the lady with cancer. Such a great ending to that one.

I thought this season started off a bit slow and awkward, but I assumed the season would move at the usual speed, so I didn't understand why characters were hanging around monologuing and cracking jokes during the opening part of the riot! Now I know it all took place within a few days it makes more sense.

I was a bit cross when someone used the "Are we the bad guys?" punchline. I'm sure that was stolen from Mitchell and Webb! I love OITNB, but I feel the writers "borrow" from other shows more than is usual. I can't think of many more examples right now, but I've noticed it before. There was a scene last season that was extremely similar to one from Bad Girls, and I read somewhere that someone thinks they ripped off a Prisoner Cell Block H storyline.

Those moans aside, I love OITNB. I love Morello and Nicky, and Suzanne, and Pennsatucky and Boo. Generally I love the characters who usually only pop up one scene per episode! I could do with a lot less Alex, Piper, Taystee, Black Cindy and Watson tbh... (though I do like Black Cindy's pop culture references.)

I can't believe it! I've binge watched, believing there were 6 seasons to go through

Now I have to wait another year?!

I rewatched episode one of the new season. Caputo tells them "Barring the arrest, i hope you get everything you want." And they did! Until Taystee turned it down...

I've finished the series so I'm allowed on the spoiler threads now. I'm missing it badly though. Can't wait another year

I loved how each episode was like a different style of movie, especially the horror one when Pisscatella is rampaging through the prison.

Love almost all the characters. Especially Morello, Nicky and Pennsatucky.

And love love love Suzanne. Her parts make me cry. When she was chained to the bed but also the stroking circle

I've just finished it. I absolutely love it but can Piper and Alex both be released because I can't stand it either of them.
I always think of Daya's baby. Still makes me so angry to this day that he ran away

But perhaps the whole white dream girls incident with Janae took place a few years before the sports scholarship. But it was like they just expected us to forget her previous back story?

I thought that was weird too. Also wasn't she from a Muslim family too but she's never mentioned it to Allison as far as we know. I'm sure her mum was wearing hijab in one of the flashbacks.

I saw it that the Janae story was linked to how she was helping Brooke channel her feeling of injustice into sport ie as she did when it wasn't fair that she didn't have the same opportunities

Ah just finished the last episode thinking there were loads more to go! Oh no now what do we watch?!?

I need to know what happens after the explosion!!?

I reckon the "leaders" will be sent to max, the others just split up to other prisons.

Regarding the pool, i think it could go 2 ways to given what happened to Piscatella. After all the whole world had just been broadcast what a monster he was.

I think the record burning could produce some interesting storylines next series. Yes all those shots that didn't get sent up the chain (and any extra time recommendations) have gone but so have all the good behaviour records. I'd be pissed if I'd worked for early release only to be told there was no record of it...

So I'm all caught up! Does it air on Netflix globally next June or dies Usa get it sooner?
