RuPauls Drag Race - any fans on mumsnet?

Just wondered if anyone else watches Rupauls Drag Race? I'm currently watching Season 9 on Netflix, having rewatched the previous 8 seasons too many times to admit!

(I may also be guilty of searching too many RPDR videos on YouTube; Untucked, Fashion Photo Review & Pit Stop)

I'd love to see All Stars 1. I like seeing more of the ones we've already got to know.

I've just watched the latest episode of season 9 and, whilst I understand why the person was eliminated, I do think there are at least 2 remaining contestants who are much, much, much worse.

I feel like there are fewer jokers and more sulkers this series, anyone else agree?

Dolly80 · 21/05/2017 18:44

I don't know what the eliminated person was thinking (actually I do as I watched 'whatcha packin' on YouTube where Michelle interviews them) I don't think there was any choice but to tell them to sashy away.

I'd describe the 2 worst contestants left as sulkers. It's not as comedic this time around but I am enjoying seeing some different sides of drag. I also think the sulkers prob bring the general mood down.

I do like a comedy queen though. Favourite season was probably 6, followed by all stars 2.

I think the eliminated person's runway look was much better than the 2 sulkers. I would've liked the 2 sulkers to wind up in the lip sync. But I do understand why that didn't happen. I'd love to see the eliminated contestant redeem herself on an All Stars.

I love the comedy queens, they are so much more interesting than the pageant queens. I'd say Alyssa is one of the only pageant queens who I've really liked, and she's been self-aware enough to turn her mannerisms into comedic tics.

Superficially, I do tend to like the pretty queens. I remember being disappointed when Tatiana was eliminated in her season & I think she had a rough ride on her All Stars season.

My 15 year old nieces are addicted to this and are gutted they can't go to the conference in August as they will be on holiday. I do find it hysterical that they are interested in Divine and all her old films cha cha heels! Although they are all appropriate for 15 year old really I just want to drag them all out and and watch them with them.

Bluesue26 · 23/05/2017 13:19

A conference??!!!! What? Where?
I love this show. Really really love it. I'm intrigued by drag artists. I have no idea why.

£100!! All the drag race events over here are so expensive. The Rupaul dragcon was $50.

As a non-Drag Race watcher, but a huge fan of the Mighty Monkseal's Strictly blogs, you might want to check out his Drag Race reviews.

I've been watching since LITERALLY day dot. Season 1 onwards and have had the pleasure of meeting many of the Queens in the worst dodgy strip club venues as that's the only places that would book them to start with.

I'm not liking the new editing style for this Season- it's like vh1 has declawed the show and it seems much shorter and we get much less of the girls.

Untucked is back on top form after being a crapshoot for a couple of seasons.

Did anyone watch the travesty that was Drag U?

HeyRoly · 23/05/2017 20:31

MONKSEAL DOES DRAG RACE?

I loved their Bake Off recaps so much. I had no idea there was Drag Race too! Grin

My favourites are Sharon, Chad Michaels, Alaska, Jinx and Bianca.

Why don't they make a Uk version?
