If you find that tedious, try Homes Under the Hammer and going slightly off topic Car Booty, you can't sink lower than that.

margoandjerry · 15/03/2007 22:11

That Lorne Spicer from Car Booty has the worst voice on TV. Official.

She's now doing that totally chavacious bailiffs programme on BBC1. I miss Homes Under the Hammer

TwoIfBySea · 15/03/2007 22:11

I used to watch this as I am a nosey bitch but I got fed up with people having seemingly bucketloads of money and no taste. They always seemed to whine about stupid things like wallpaper, don't like the wallpaper then paint over it you stupid twat! So jealousy that I don't have their finances and annoyance that they were overly fussy, I don't watch anymore.

Still like Grand Designs though!

lucykate · 15/03/2007 22:15

the most annoying thing about programmes like this is usually at the end its a case of they decide not to move after all

JanH · 15/03/2007 22:23

I can do the bleeding math!!!

10k = 6.25m
4m = 6.4k

4m in 30mins is pretty good, actually cod - sort of = 10k in 45 mins (only it wouldn't because you get slower as you go on, or so I'm told).

DS2 ran 10K in 48.20 the other day, which is not bad at nearly 14, but OTOH has damaged his back so maybe should not have

MrShev · 16/03/2007 09:22

48.20 is a good time. Last time I did a 10k (after lots of training, I might add) I did it in 49.30.

Anyway, ETTC - I saw the one with the welshies who just wanted to live in a Barrat home that had enough space for their fat son to ride his quad bike around. If I had them as neighbours I'd seriously consider buying some semtex.

Didn't see this weeks. Me and the missus got invited to do the show - but declined.

expatinscotland · 16/03/2007 09:24

WAY back in the day, when I was in my early 20s, I ran a 10K in 38 minutes.

Man, was I chuffed!

My then boyfriend took a picture of me at the finish line, and when I look at it now, it looks like a different person .

MrShev · 16/03/2007 09:28

38 minutes is proper good - considering Paula Radcliffe broke the record with 30m 21s.

expatinscotland · 16/03/2007 09:29

30 minutes?!

OH NO.

At this race, the female winner was across in 36 minutes.

Mirage · 16/03/2007 22:40

I had the same thoughts.Last week I watched it & a couple from Milton Keynes were on it & viewed a house in the next village to me.They were very odd, wanted a country cottage, but not old,no original features what they really wanted a modern bungalow.

Every time they saw an open fire she said 'oh that will have to be replaced by a living flame gas fire'.She hated ranges & agas.

I don't know what they decided on,but thank God It wasn't the one near me.(I only watched because the house in question has been for sale for ages with not a sniff of a buyer & I was curious. Now I can see why.)

maisym · 16/03/2007 22:48

I like seeing the houses - sometimes a bit samey though. Liked homes under the hammer - an excellent programme. Beat the Bailiff always makes me surprised at the lack of books in peoples houses.

Mirage · 16/03/2007 22:54

You are right maisym,I've never seen a book on that baliff programme. When all their tv's playstations ect have gone, the participants always moan that they are bored as they've got nothing to do.I can't believe that people don't read!

MrShev · 19/03/2007 13:30

Crikey, I am really 'escaping to the country' and am pooing myself about it. Where on Mumsnet would I get advice for a urbanite such as myself how to cope in the green stuff?

Butkin · 19/03/2007 16:06

I just don't know how the presenter got the job. Unlike Phil and Kirsty she seems to be totally clueless and never sticks to the brief.

My particular gripe is when the people are looking for land for their horses and she shows them something with "a big garden" - the producers need to get a grip. She is the reason it is daytime TV and not primetime like Location, Location.

Spidermama · 19/03/2007 16:09

Yes awful woman.

Mind you she's a total genius compared to that squawky maniac woman in Cash in the Attic. She's easily the worst TV presenter there has ever been.

GRUMPYGIRL · 19/03/2007 16:23

Cod we were discussing Miss Youve Been Tangoed last week, when I saw it today I thought "I bet someone says something on Mumsnet about this"

There seemed to be an undercurrent between the two couples today...god if it is there at the looking stage imagine what it would be like when they are LIVING together!

Mirage - I chuckled about the living flame comment last week too.

Drives me mad when they say "I dont like pink carpets" "I dont like the wallpaper" WTF look at room dimensions, parking, original features the rest is cosmetic and easily changed.

JustIvor · 19/03/2007 16:31

NDP The "Welsh weirdies" were brilliant, weren't they? I was on the thread last week asking if anyone know how they could afford such a house. I was torn between being generous (self made) and mean (bingo/lottery.) I still haven't found an excuse to ring the work office local to that family to find out. The two women were sisters btw not mother and daughter.

GRUMPYGIRL · 19/03/2007 16:51

My theories about the welsh weirdies

  1. Lottery
  2. Tanning salon
  3. Porn films
CODalmighty · 19/03/2007 17:51

only saw half today

why di dhtey need na annexe?
all the hosues wer eshite

Because they were two families - husband, wife & daughter plus the wife's Mum & Dad - I liked the house with the massive kitchen diner.

Im sure none of these townies who move to the country really know what its like, I expect they visit in barbours & burberry wellies to walk their labradors then decide to move there for a 'better' life
