I caught an episode called Cold Comfort last night. It's billed a black humour but it I just found it very disturbing (though brilliant).
Should I watch the rest of them? I hadn't heard of this series before.

spiderlight · 05/04/2017 10:31

Yes! They are brilliant. Some are better than others but they're all well worth watching. Very very dark and very clever.

coldcanary · 05/04/2017 10:34

I've only seen 2 of them and will catch up with the rest very slowly - I don't think it's something I could binge watch without nightmares!
The first episode is good - Sardines I think it's called. Now that really is disturbing. It's brilliantly written and acted and the last 5 minutes will really stick with you.

HalfShellHero · 05/04/2017 10:41

Some are definitely better than others first one I saw was Private View which I lol'd hard at perfect black humour. The 12 days of Christine was just sad to me.

SapphireStrange · 05/04/2017 13:03

Half, I didn't get the end of Private View. SPOILER!!!

Did he kill the killer dinnerlady? How? What did it mean –did he just do it out of self-defence or was he also a killer already?

HalfShellHero · 05/04/2017 13:26

He killed her out of self defence I assume and put her heart in the display..that's how I interpret it i.e heartless critic.

SapphireStrange · 05/04/2017 13:28

Ah, I see. I'd forgotten/missed the 'heartless critic' bit.

HalfShellHero · 05/04/2017 13:53

I loved peter kay, I've spilt' mi' ritz ! Grin

DrAbbyYates · 05/04/2017 15:06

They are brilliant. The writing is superb.

The 12 Days of Christine is on iplayer at the moment and is one of the very best ones IMHO. Incredibly moving.

cheesydoesit · 05/04/2017 15:53

Yes, I love Inside Number 9. They have put the first two series up on Netflix (along with League of Gentlemen and Pyschoville, hurrah!!), we rewatched them the other day. Excellent writing and cast. 12 days of Christine is a stand out episode. It makes me cry every time.

SapphireStrange · 05/04/2017 16:08

Psychoville is wonderful. I've never forgiven the great British public for not watching it, causing it to be dropped.

Igottastartthinkingbee · 05/04/2017 16:10

The one with Sheridan smith is so powerful. It played on my mind for a long time afterwards, watched again the other night, still fantastic.

Tenementfunster · 05/04/2017 16:19

The 12 days of Christine absolutely did me in. I cried buckets.
The silent/mime episode is great

SapphireStrange · 05/04/2017 16:23

The silent/mime episode is great Yes! Absolute genius.

DrAbbyYates · 05/04/2017 16:30

12 Days of Christine is the Sheridan Smith one. It's wonderful.

HalfShellHero · 05/04/2017 20:40

The shoe one is wierd , how I did laugh hard at the questions he asked the 'shoe owner' can you identify the tread! A b and c Grin ...very dark good ending though. The karaoke was a bit meh, ...

DrAbbyYates · 05/04/2017 21:24

I watched the shoe one for a second time as DH hadn't seen it, and it is so very cleverly put together on a second watch. The house is full of pairs of things, and the shots were really carefully composed to make the pairs frame the characters.

ILookedintheWater · 06/04/2017 09:58

We watched 'A private view' last night.
Will seek out 12 Days of Christine

OP posts:
SapphireStrange · 06/04/2017 10:16

I just rememberd the one about the crossword setter. Really intricate, dark and clever.

cheesydoesit · 06/04/2017 14:18

Ooh yes, that one is great!

RitaMills · 06/04/2017 15:44

I absolutely love this, so clever and I always look forward to the twist at the end.

12 Days of Christine is very good, I welled up a little at the end of that one.

Lottapianos · 06/04/2017 15:50

Cold Comfort is my favourite episode. It's very disturbing and gets under your skin. Theres a real sense of dread all the way through it despite some very funny dialogue. The final twist is only revealed in the last few seconds and i think i actually screamed out loud when i watched it for the first time. Truly brilliant stuff

The silent episode from series 1 is brilliant too

I would imagine that Inside No 9 is something you either absolutely love or absolutely hate

IvankaTrudeau · 06/04/2017 15:56

I rewatched Cold Comfort last night. They're definitely something you can rewatch to get all the bits you missed the first time.

Did you see the xmas special one? I was very ShockShock at the end of that. They're all dark but that one in particular.

I also liked the birthday party one? From the 1st/2nd series? What was the name of that?

Lottapianos · 06/04/2017 15:59

Yes Ivanka, the Xmas special one had a horrible reveal at the end. Took me ages to get to sleep after watching it

I need to rewatch series 1

CrumpettyTree · 06/04/2017 16:01

I loved Sardines and Twelve Days of Christine was brilliant. I don't know if i can bring myself to watch it again though. It's a bit scary/harrowing. Brilliant though.

HalfShellHero · 06/04/2017 16:58

Xmas special one? Is that 12 days of Christine?
