Last thread is full. So a last thread to finish the series ...

OP posts:
HollyJollyDillydolly · 13/03/2017 11:27

Really good last episode. My Sunday evenings won't be the same. The dishevelled vicar looked very hot!
Got to look forward to Christmas now for the next one!

LittleIda · 13/03/2017 11:29

Fab episode/series. Linda Bassett is such a fantastic actress. I loved Barbara choosing her as bridesmaid and I loved it when she kept sticking her head through the changing room curtains and when the shop lady gave her a haughty look so she gave her an even haughtier look back. Brilliant. Grin

LittleIda · 13/03/2017 11:30

Assume the JFK assassination will be covered next episode.

LittleIda · 13/03/2017 11:30

Next series i mean

Antiques Roadshow takes the slot from next week. How dull in comparison.

saniner · 13/03/2017 12:18

Dr Turner on the bed was just weird... He's always come across as a bit 'wet' to me.

ppeatfruit · 13/03/2017 12:27

Yes I liked that scene too Littlda and the way she went on about Barbara's lack of corset!.

Talking about corsets that corset that the shop lady going through the menopause ordered from Wilma Shock.

Clawdy · 13/03/2017 12:32

I didn't think the dad came over as a piece of shit as someone said up thread. He seemed to be a loving dad to his girls, but thought they should try for a boy.Not great, I agree, but it didn't make me think he wouldn't be a good dad to his family.

ppeatfruit · 13/03/2017 12:32

OMG this programme makes me feel old, I really remember the big freeze of 1962 \63 and the snow piled high either side of the roads and pavements in LONDON! For months Shock

We had disgusting paraffin heaters. with a coal fired boiler for the hot water, no central heating.

LittleIda · 13/03/2017 13:01

They are going to need a lot of fake snow next series.

I agree that Wilmas DH didn't come across as a shit at all. Its still very common for someone to want the "missing" sex child for their family. It doesn't mean they don't love the ones they already have.

Floggingmolly · 13/03/2017 13:07

The Turners are like the Mummy and Daddy in a Ladybird book made flesh... Too sweet to be wholesome, as they say.

BikeRunSki · 13/03/2017 13:07

I thought Barbara's dad has been involved in overseas charitable work all his working life Francis.

PageNowFoundFileUnderSpartacus · 13/03/2017 13:16

I didn't think Barbara would be sending her Dad money for mission work as he had only just been appointed a missionary?

I thought he'd been doing mission work for a while and it was just this particular posting that was new.

Sunnymeg · 13/03/2017 13:36

I missed Sgt Noakes this series and was surprised that he didn't turn up for the stag night. I hope we see more of him in the next series. I wonder if the actor had his screen time cut due to Miranda's scenes being rewritten. If so, he must have been pretty annoyed!

IvyLeagueUnderTheSea · 13/03/2017 14:52

Did anyone else think it had a bit of a Christmas special vibe? With the snow and the red flowers?

I wonder if it may air for Christmas in America or elsewhere in the world. It certainly felt very Christmassy.

LittleIda · 13/03/2017 14:57

Good point re it being Christmassy.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 13/03/2017 16:22

Yy to Sgt Noakes being at the stag do, hadn't thought if that but yes he should have been there.

Surely the vicar wouldn't have gambled?
I will forgive him though, as he looked so good in a vest. Wink

CoolCarrie · 13/03/2017 17:02

i am also pissed off with Ms Hart, she was great in this and could have shown more loyalty by at least making the odd appearance, maybe she has other fish to fry, but this show, more than her comedy stuff has given her a high profile, but, like Dan Stevens, maybe she thinks she is too big for it now. (Although in Dan Stevens case, at least he has Beauty and The Beast coming out soon.)

blueskyinmarch · 13/03/2017 17:07

I haven't watched the last two episodes yet and I fear you have put spoilers in your thread title. Make it go away.

PageNowFoundFileUnderSpartacus · 13/03/2017 17:10

bluesky It's not a spoiler once the programme has aired in its usual slot.

Maybe Sgt Noakes was on duty?
