Did anyone watch it?? Absolutely beautiful. And heartbreaking.

What a lovely programme, heart warming and heart wrenching.

PinkBuffalo · 28/12/2016 20:58

I Agree. Thought it was very well done too

HemanOrSheRa · 28/12/2016 20:59

Absolutely mesmerising. I was completely engrossed from start to finish.

pineappleeyes · 28/12/2016 20:59

Started watching it by accident & couldn't turn it off. Loved it

Manumission · 28/12/2016 20:59

I love, love, love it but didn't know it was on.

Which channel was it?

iCoCo · 28/12/2016 21:00

I never cry at TV or films and I'm sat here sobbing. I feel very humble and shows how amazing life really is.

Luckystar1 · 28/12/2016 21:00

I turned over and thought 'oh ffs a bloody cartoon' how wrong I was.

Even more emotive in illustration I think, especially as it's completely representative of someone's memories

HemanOrSheRa · 28/12/2016 21:02

BBC 1 Manu. Honestly, I was the same - a cartoon?! It was just lovely Smile.

ggirl · 28/12/2016 21:03

It was lovely ..but Ethel was an insufferable moaner ...

Manumission · 28/12/2016 21:03

Thanks. Will be on iPlayer soon then Smile

Abecedario · 28/12/2016 21:04

Just lovely, even DP was engrossed

Blossomdeary · 28/12/2016 21:05

Superb. And brought back so many memories for me - I was born in 1948 and remember visiting my grandmother in London - she had an Anderson shelter in her garden.

It was an extraordinary time when you think about it - Briggs' parents went from gas lamps to men on the moon, by way of phones, cars, TVs etc. - all in the course of their lifetimes. Amazing.

Clawdy · 28/12/2016 21:06

I was weeping at the end, and those lovely evocative photos during the credits, coupled with that beautiful Macca song, really finished me.

Luckystar1 · 28/12/2016 21:07

Blossom I know it's crazy. I was only born in 1986, and the changes in my lifetime are mind boggling but incomparable to that!

I've had the book for years and have always loved it.

This was wonderful.

bushtailadventures · 28/12/2016 21:07

It was lovely,a real surprise.

I wasn't going to watch it, but I got caught up in the first 5 minutes.

Darthvadersmuuuum · 28/12/2016 21:08

Beautiful and charming. A real surprise.

GreenGinger2 · 28/12/2016 21:08

Fantastic but so sad at the end.

Lovefromhull · 28/12/2016 21:10

Gorgeous

SwedishEdith · 28/12/2016 21:13

Missed the first half hour - were they older parents when he was born? Think the dad was born in 1895 so 39 when RB was born.

Loved the way he showed how he got impatient with his mother. Was lovely.

Cosmicglitterpug · 28/12/2016 21:14

Such a fantastic portrayal of life. The natural ebb and flow of two people and their son. I could hear the voices of my grandparents in them. Was really well done.

fatbottomgirl67 · 28/12/2016 21:15
