Did anyone watch it?? Absolutely beautiful. And heartbreaking.

It was just so lovely. Loved Ethel's snobby ways and she reminded me of my gran. It's amazing to think of the changes they went through in their life time.

Oh me too Underastormysky2 - Those last scenes really got to me. Lost my Dad just a few weeks ago. So sorry for your loss.

Me too imposter and under lost my mum in September so I was watching it feeling very vulnerable anyway, but absolutely loved it.

impostersyndrome · 02/01/2017 17:37

Sorry to hear that | justkeepongoing. It really encapsulated so much about that sad slipping away of someone who was once so strong.

lollipoppop · 02/01/2017 19:29

Just one weird bit though..was that neighbour of theirs offering for Ernest to have sex with his menopausal wife??!

FernetBranca · 02/01/2017 22:24

Have now watched it. Truly lovely. I put it on and other members of the family just got drawn in as well. Bravo Raymond Briggs.

We've just watched it tonight. DH wasn't bothered but was glued and always tearful at the end.

Underastormysky2 · 03/01/2017 23:30

It must make a lovely gift as a book too.

GladysKravitz · 04/01/2017 16:37

I loved it too. The photos at the end almost finished me off!

Like lolli I wondered about the bit with the neighbour - for RB to have known about it his DF must have told him? I felt it might have been somehow tied up with the suggestion that his parents had a sexless marriage and showing that his DF, although long-suffering in that respect, didn't take the neighbour up on his kind offer.

His wife died within a couple of years of his parents. Loved the programme.
