I loved it. No one does it better than David Attenborough . Even the background music was good, not intrusive

TheresOnlyOneWayOfLife · 06/11/2016 23:04

DS3 broken by the penguins, took 3 chapters of the book tonight to get him away from the penguins.
Spellbinding stuff though.

BagelGoesWalking · 06/11/2016 23:05

Agee with what you've all said. We were shouting at the iguanas to get a bloomin' move on! God, those snakes... Just oozing out of the rocks like that! And poor penguins and crabs having their eyes eaten by the ants (brought to the island by humans, grrr).

Trouble is, I find myself welling up every time I see David Attenborough, I really can't bear the thought of him not being around... he's like a beloved family member.

ineedaholidaynow · 07/11/2016 00:26

My DF was at the same school as David Attenborough although DF is a few years younger than him. He knew the younger brother John and would sometimes go to their house.
DS (11) is very excited by this fact Smile

FadedRed · 07/11/2016 00:34

I was looking forward to watching this on catch-up, not sure if I want to now. Broken legged penguins and horrifying snakes - I'm traumatised just reading this thread. Sad

ineedaholidaynow · 07/11/2016 00:36

If you don't like snakes don't watch the first half.

SailingThroughTime · 07/11/2016 00:40

I have a new respect for marine iguanas now. Bastardcreepyfucker snakes.
But those penguins...what's the point? Day 1,- walk 2 miles - take life in own flippers getting into the sea - swim 50 miles for (nasty) food - swim 50 miles home - take life in flippers again - walk another 2 miles - throw up said (nasty) food for the chicks. Day 2, - stand around all day starving hungry and mind the chicks while occasionally fending off malevolent birds. Repeat until broken.
Who'd bother really?
Honestly, I've never been so grateful to be a naicely off human.

SailingThroughTime · 07/11/2016 00:42

I love David A.
I definitely would and I don't care how old he isGrin

IminaPickle · 07/11/2016 08:39

Budgiebonbon
My first thought this morning was yay! I didn't have nightmares about those snakes! I'm sure it'll be in gogglebox this week Grin

fussychica · 07/11/2016 08:49

Amazing, just amazing!
I don't mind snakes but those were bloody terrifying. Like others I was screaming "run, baby , run". Loved the Sloth too.
Wonderful stuff. What will we do when David Attenborough has gone? Mind you as he's still flying around in balloons at 90 hopefully we have him for a few years yet.
Looking forward to the next episode.

Budgiebonbon · 07/11/2016 10:30

IminaPickle That makes two of us! Smile- was also thinking how pleased I still was for that baby Iguana!

If you didn't know any different you would think that the footage of the Komodo dragon's was CGI- well done BBC.

Everyone in the office is talking about it this morning.

hellhasnofurylikeahungrywoman · 07/11/2016 10:35

Did anyone else see David Attenborough talking to Graham Norton on Friday night about how some of the filming of Planet Earth II was done?

mrswhiplington · 07/11/2016 11:11

Couldn't watch the snakes, kept closing my eyes and asking DH have they gone yet. Could have coped if just one snake but not all those.Shock

Adored the sloths, the way it swam through the sea to find a mate.Smile

marzipananimal · 07/11/2016 18:06

DS (6) wants to watch it, I think the sloth bit is the only one I'm happy to show him! Nature is harsh 😥

marzipananimal · 07/11/2016 18:07

I don't mind snakes normally but that really was the stuff of nightmares!

FadedRed · 08/11/2016 14:19

DA at his best, but then he always is.
I suppose if is wasn't for the balance of nature (and those snakes) we'd be up to our knees in iguanas.
Definitely PG with the LO's though.

Soubriquet · 08/11/2016 21:48

Finally managed to watch it

I love this program. Got the previous lot on DVD (50p!!!) but it does break your heart sometimes

gingerboy1912 · 08/11/2016 21:54

Just tuned in. Christ those mountain goats ShockShock

MissClarke86 · 13/11/2016 20:40

The flamingo parade made me lose my shit howling with laughter.

Jungfraujoch · 13/11/2016 20:45

Best programme on the telly. Just jaw dropping and fascinating to get a close up view of our wonderful world. (Takes your mind of Trump!)

Cocolepew · 13/11/2016 20:52

The scratching bear and the flamingoes were hilarious Grin

jellyandsoup · 13/11/2016 20:56
