We saw the grumpy heron today. He scared the shit out of me it just seems to appear from nowhere and then stares menacingly.

Even Raahhdog knows better than to bark at the heron.

We played with ice from the pond today

The local heron just sits in the tree like a sinister watcher over the lake, tolddog doesn't usually notice it up in the trees. Told dog notices the squirrels and the jays though and imagines that one day she'll be able to climb that tree.

cinnamon I really wanted to throw a rock onto the lake to break the ice, but I resisted.

oh, Raahhdog is being goaded by a squirrel in our garden . I swear it sits on the fence laughing , whilst the dog goes berserk at the door. And yes, I am convinced it's always the same one.

We have menacing blackbirds that tolddog tries to protect us from. My brother's cat runs inside when it sees a blackbird!

I need Doctors to be back on now. The final mince pie has been scoffed, the Christmas tree is languishing in the front garden waiting optimistically for the bin men to collect it, and I need my fix of the lovely Heston...

I am running out of patience with the extended breaks now.

I must admit, I really like father Brown, but I am fed up waiting for Doctors too. I have e saved the Christmas carol episode, but once Boxing day is over, I get too depressed to watch pre- Christmas things .

I really wanted to throw a rock onto the lake to break the ice but I resisted- quite right told , apparantly breaking ice can cause shockwaves and harm any fish in the lake (or something) I didn't make that up

My 17yo still has the urge to step onto iced puddles but I tell him to resist because small children want to do it (like HE did as a little chap)

I didn't know that about the ice on lakes 70. I'll resist that forever from now on. But I shall still break icy puddles, your poor DS just because he's not a small one doesn't mean he should forego childhood pleasures. You can tell him from told that I think his mum is mean.
