Has anyone watched this? I stumbled across it a few nights ago and I'm hooked!

I found this a while ago and have watched all of it. Prepare to spend seasons five and six weeping. Proper, full on heaving sobs. Best thing I have seen in years

EllaHen · 25/09/2016 12:58

I've just have proper full on tears and I'm only on season 4, episode 2. Not a spoiler but there's a scene where Darcy says to Nina "As soon as you were born I was mad about you, I'm still mad about you ....... and I'm never gonna stop being mad about you."

Such a lovely thing for a parent to say to a child.

krazipan · 25/09/2016 13:14

I'm now at series 5 and it is emotionally exhausting at times....still love it though! Where can I watch series 6?! It won't be on Netflix for ages if it's only just showing in Australia

Dollius01 · 25/09/2016 15:00

Argh no I haven't seen series six, that was Netflix tricking me because it counted the pilot as a single series. How can I watch series 6???

Dollius01 · 25/09/2016 15:01

Season 5 is a total weep fest...

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 25/09/2016 15:03

Thanks, will take a lookSmile

KP86 · 25/09/2016 17:18

DH found it online for me, usual pirating sites I think.

You could also try tricking the "10 play" website into thinking you're in Australia. It does work, but the website is pretty buggy and you can end up back at the start and having to try to find your place a couple of times per episode.

TheSecondOfHerName · 25/09/2016 21:01

I'm mostly enjoying it, but hate Eddie Perfect's singing voice. I literally cannot stand it, and have to mute or fast forward every time he sings.

KP86 · 25/09/2016 21:49

He stops singing after a while.

TheSecondOfHerName · 25/09/2016 21:52

Thank goodness for that. It's a shame, because he's a talented pianist.

TheSecondOfHerName · 29/09/2016 21:33

I'm now about half way through Series 1 (or Series 2 if you believe Netflix). I love the character of Martin Clegg.

Groovee · 08/10/2016 21:52

Oh man. On series 5. Totally did not see anything coming.

JedRambosteen · 09/10/2016 22:44

Well, I've just crunched through all 6 seasons in a remarkably short amount of time thanks to this thread. DH must be a keeper because he doesn't want to divorce me off the back of this totally immersive experience.

I don't want to put any spoilers up, but I do want to give Patrick the thumbs up for calling the Proudman family dysfunction from time to time. He totally nailed it (and, I think, spoke for the audience) on the occasions he set limits. Were the family to exist in real life the MIL threads alone, let alone the siblings, would keep MN busy, busy, busy.

Still, suffocating family dynamics have never been so appealingly portrayed. Just when it was getting a bit trite, kookie or silly, there would be a sucker punch scene with real emotional depth - when Asher Keddie was at her best. I also thought it was admirable how a character as initially as unsympathetic as Billie's could be turned around so I was rooting for her by the end.

Oh and this v

I'm mostly enjoying it, but hate Eddie Perfect's singing voice. I literally cannot stand it, and have to mute or fast forward every time he sings.

When I told DH that Eddie Perfect apparently has a career as a real life singer/performer in Aus he was Shock as we were in complete agreement that Mick's singing was awful and the songs (apparently his) were meh too. And another thing - did anyone notice he suddenly got very trim half way through one of the seasons? Not quite nurse Helé in ER trim, but still noticeably slimmer.

JedRambosteen · 09/10/2016 22:46

There were some laugh out loud bits too. Like when Nina sat on Eloise's guinea pig. Smile

JedRambosteen · 10/10/2016 07:08

I've just read an article online about a potential 7th season which, now i've ploughed through UK Netflix season "6", has made me realise there's another, actual season 6 & Netflix's numbering is out of whack. It is spoiler filled in a way that makes me think that bowing out at the end of UK Netflix's season 6 may be preferable. Link

EllaHen · 23/10/2016 15:46

Oh dear God - don't want to give away a spoiler but the somebody earlier in the thread mentioned 'weep fest'. Er, ... yes.

conkerpods · 29/10/2016 14:06

I'm on series 3,episode 4.
I don't like Patrick!!I'll be totally gutted if Chris doesn't come back (again). He was gorgeous.

TheSecondOfHerName · 14/11/2016 18:58

I cannot get over how dreadful Mick's mum is.

conkerpods · 15/11/2016 22:25

Yes she's vile!
So....I've just finished season 5 and expected season 6 to appear and it hasn't Angry
I've googled and series 6 has recently aired in Oz so hopefully will be on Netflix soon??

Haha! I've nearly watched them all!

rosybell · 19/07/2017 14:21

What's everyone thinking about S6? I loved the first 5 and kind of wished they'd left it there really. Just feels as if they are using the same old story lines and it's all been done before.. I'm only halfway through though so maybe it'll get better..

Apparently it was a different writer or director (can't remember which now!) which maybe explains it.
