2 years ago a thread on Our Girl was started with these words ^Anyone watching this drivel?
although slightly enjoyed the family dynamics going on last night, unfortunately DD's favourite programme and in fact Guardian seems to recommend it^

38,000 posts, fireside wrestling contests, fan-fiction, autograph requests, carol concerts, CJ Grand Tours later we are about to watch series 2! And that first post is a distant memory.

Join us on what is sure to be an amazing journey over the next 5 weeks

Only the toppest top toppety totty Rhu that's all Grin

not that I ever noticed over the full three series - I was interested in the factual facts of French history obvs

cjwoofwoof · 13/09/2016 16:33

I have seen a clip of OG Ep2 showing CJ in fine Captain Shoutypants mode so despite missing Luca I'm hoping for plenty of Sternface low slung trouser action to make up for it. Oo-er, come to think of it, maybe there aren't any drainpipes at the Old Kebab den for Elvis to shimmy up so that explains his absence...he can't operate without decent up thrust shimmy action as I can testify

Rhubarb01 · 13/09/2016 16:54

Yes, come to think of it woof all those low-rise constructions must be playing havoc with Elvis's drain shimmying inclinations and I wouldn't mind betting he's been undercover a long time and hasn't - to paraphrase dear CJ - "had any drain shimmying action for ages!"

moojangles · 13/09/2016 17:03

pix and mads thinking of you,

pixieg1rl · 13/09/2016 18:09

Thanks guys. They're both reasonably ok still so best to sort these things now, but the last 5 years have seen a really fast decline in their health. They're both relatively young, but aging fast. MrP's mum also going downhill and started chemo last week. Just reaching that point in life really.

My theory, Elvis is working under cover, rides in at the end of episode 2 to rescue GLWink.

KeziaOAP · 13/09/2016 18:37

Thank you ice, Grin

Rhubarb01 · 13/09/2016 18:40

Oh Wow! Well that's good enough for me Grin

icemistOBE · 13/09/2016 19:33

You're welcome ladies. Brief paragraph on episode 3 on BBC too

Nice one ice.
pix my Mum decided a few years ago to do this with us & have to say mrmooj & I have already discussed and written ours down!
Talking of mrm... He has always, since forever, gone to the bar on a Weds night but tried to decide to start not going. He has been convinced otherwise thankfully

Onlygirljen · 13/09/2016 21:40

Not an ideal day pix, sorry to hear that. It's something DH and I have both done, feels a bit grim at the time though. My father in law died at the grand age of 48 Confused, and it was fairly chaotic to try and sort out what to do because it was so unexpected, so have seen the other end of the coin.

mooj get him down the pub! He sounds as bad as mine, who got home from work at 9pm last wed and had the audacity to try and tell me how his day had gone don't know how it went, didn't listen to a word. Hmm

Ilovelblue · 13/09/2016 21:42

Evening all. Pixie and Maddie as others have said, it's only once to do and then you can forget about it. I got the power of attorney for my Mum after my Dad died. I know she didn't even want to consider it really and in truth I never needed it, but it was there just in case. I also know of an acquaintance whose mother had dementia and they tried to get it for her when she clearly wasn't compos mentis and of course they couldn't do so - best to do whilst everyone is of sound mind and body etc.

Ilovelblue · 13/09/2016 21:47

I've had a pretty rubbish day. Suffice to say I thought I'd finished with "ladies problems" and had come out smiling the other side but after just over a year, it's hit me again. Decided I probably ought to go to the doctors and got a real surprise when I was offered an appointment on Sunday morning! It's worked out quite well apart from the fact it's at 8.30 so I will have to be up and out early. Been feeling very weary today, not to mention bad tempered. Anyone who upset me today certainly knew about it!

moojangles · 13/09/2016 21:47

The cheek of these men jen. Have even offered him a lift to ensure he goes

MaddieMoo82 · 13/09/2016 22:15

Ah thanks ladies. Sorry to hijack your post pix. More MrMads than me and it's all very sad.
Loads of football on tomorrow night but he has promised I have the 9-10 slot for OG. Romance isn't dead in this house yet Hmm
Glad you've convinced mrm mooj!
Sorry you have had a rough day ilove

Ilovelblue · 13/09/2016 22:43

Well if today hasn't been rough enough, I've just had a phone call from a friend to tell me that another friend has incurable cancer. 49 years of age. In a daze to be honest now.

SoEverybodyDance · 13/09/2016 23:07

So I came across CJ's personal portraitist... some of you ladies might well remember her... she might even be on here... she said that she's done so many portraits of him she knows when photos of him have been photoshopped, so I asked her about Woofy's -allegation- thought that he'd had his teeth done and she says, in her expert opinion, that he hasn't... over to you woof woof

Alwaysfrank · 13/09/2016 23:12

Sorry to hear that ilove - that's my age and as David Cameron said yesterday it's still young.

Ice - glad to hear that Mr ice has a new job, that must be a huge relief.

I was watching tv earlier when the our girl trailer came on. MrF sitting beside me declared that there's only one problem with the programme- the new female lead is so beautiful that it's distracting! He was very apologetic but what could I say? It was the perfect opportunity to fess up that I feel the same about the male lead - but I just couldn't do it! Somehow I wanted to keep it to myself Grin

I probably won't watch ep2 tomorrow as we are out for dinner (25th wedding anniversary!) so will have to save it for Thursday.

GloriaGaynor · 13/09/2016 23:16

Hey peeps, I've not flounced, nor taken offence at anything. Had mofo of upper UTI and an allergic reaction to antibiotics. Shock

Looking forward to watching episode 2.*

*The enthusiasm here about season 1 may have prompted me to give it another go on Amazon Prime.

SoEverybodyDance · 13/09/2016 23:21

Ice, glad to hear the good news it must be a relief!

Alwaysfrank you're so right not to fess up. It's much more fun to indulge in a few secrets, even after 25 years!

Hello Gloria sorry to hear you've been suffering, great to see you back again... will you be joining for the ep 2 after discussion?

cjwoofwoof · 14/09/2016 00:08

Dancey I think we both know I'm the expert when it comes to CJs mouth - where he puts it, how he uses it, what magic he can perform with it - and I'm telling you those teeth have had some work, resulting in a weird lispy twang on some diction. Rest assured I will investigate in great depth on your behalf to put your mind at ease. No, no, there's no need to thank me, the pleasure is all mine.

Grin
Ilovelblue · 14/09/2016 08:28

Morning all. Lovely and sunny here as forecast. Didn't sleep well after that phone call last night so a bit groggy today plus it's my mid-year appraisal. Not sure I can think of anything intelligent or even remotely coherent to say really and they are a waste of time.

Anyway, at least there's episode two to look forward to tonight. Am sure Elvis will come in riding on his white horse to save the day at the end, maybe even checking out his hair at the same time!

Delphin · 14/09/2016 10:15

Elvis? Pah. SAS - Schmas-A-S. Don't like him. And don't like Captain James for keeping him as his mate... [devil]
Morning everyone, newbie here, watched OG series 1 in January '15 via an online service, the film via youtube a bit later, and bought the DVDs soon after (not a native speaker, so the subtitles were appreciated).
I actually found out about the series through googling pictures of British Army uniforms, and a photo of Molly popped up in the gallery, leading me to this article. Read it, went to search the archives at my online TV service and the rest is history Grin.
I took the series 1 with about 10 grains of salt, loved the film, and am not yet decided on series 2.

Richtea19 · 14/09/2016 11:34

mads and pix we also have power of attorney for my dad after mum died it was horrid discussing but the most sensible. My dad over the last 8 years has been de cluttering and sorting out finances, when I question him he said "well it will be easier when I go" :( makes me sad.

ilove what a horrible day. When you hear news like that when someone is still so young, terrible.

I'm all set for tonight. I can't decide on wine or a G&T (or few)!

I will be studying "teeth" tonight amongst other things bulge. Grin
