2 years ago a thread on Our Girl was started with these words ^Anyone watching this drivel?
although slightly enjoyed the family dynamics going on last night, unfortunately DD's favourite programme and in fact Guardian seems to recommend it^

38,000 posts, fireside wrestling contests, fan-fiction, autograph requests, carol concerts, CJ Grand Tours later we are about to watch series 2! And that first post is a distant memory.

Sorry Dance my sponge puds are too much in demand to be wasted throwing at woof.

cjwoofwoof · 09/09/2016 14:50

I did read in the DM the Environment Agency have come up with a new extra absorbent bone dry material to help shore up flood defences ready for the winter ilove - that's excellent news and much more worthy than a bit of tossing at me Cake

Nickel45 · 09/09/2016 15:06

depends who's doing the tossing woof

cjwoofwoof · 09/09/2016 15:12

Obvs if Elvis was doing the tossing I wouldn't be ducking for cover so much nick as I expect iloves sponges would be more like cannonballs than his gammonballs, slurp Grin

Afternoon. I can see that I have arrived at an 'appr'priate' moment. Calm down dears - looks like things could get messy around here!

Those two gifs next to each other reminded me of seeing fidgety kids what with CJ nodding and Elvis flicking his hair constantly.

I don't know why I thought that review was written by a man always apart from either not looking closely enough to start with or being totally thrown off by the apparent love of MK and failure to appreciate the loveliness of the male variety in the show Confused.

Nice to hear from you both lloupey and bel. I have to agree that I did notice MK's very white teeth a lot and she did seem extraordinarily tanned. Don't thrown cushions at me for asking but does she possibly have a naturally tanned skin or am I just being really stupid? I do think she's a good actress but at the moment it still feels too much like Tina from Corrie - I know it makes sense to go with natural accents but hearing her speak with a different accent might have been interesting. To be fair however, LT has played east end girls for years and we didn't mind. I do however, think we already knew Molly so much more because of the original Our Girl and we were already rooting for her when the series started. We just need to have a good reason to root for Georgie. At the moment she's got stunning looks, she seems to have had a successful army career, a nice home, parents and siblings and apart from one blip of a wedding she's got herself a really nice professional boyfriend at home who seems to adore her. I suppose we don't feel that sorry for her yet. I suspect there's more to be revealed that will hopefully make us more sympathetic or maybe our sympathy will really be for Elvis if we find out about why he really called off the wedding.

Ilovelblue · 09/09/2016 16:21

Rhu her mother is from Gibraltar which would explain the skin tone I guess.

Hopefully when we see her next week being held captive by terrorists, she won't have cleaned her teeth for a few days and the makeup will have melted away so she might look less dolled up. Being held at knife point should make us feel sympathetic towards her?

Despite the negative comments, I still enjoyed Wednesday night and having watched it a few times more since then, it has grown on me more. It was never going to be the same as the first series. I wasn't bought into that series until at least the end of episode two anyway - let's give it a chance??

Nickel45 · 09/09/2016 16:21

We do have unnaturally warm sun in Essex rhu that does tend to tan girls in white stilettos who live here, much faster than in other parts of the country Wink

Ilovelblue · 09/09/2016 16:24

Nickel haha!

Ilovelblue · 09/09/2016 16:25

And it's a very dry county too, isn't it Nickel so any false tan wouldn't wash off as quickly as it would in Manchester!

Rhubarb01 · 09/09/2016 16:31

Oh, don't worry ilove you know I'll keep watching to the end and give it plenty of time to make an impression on me Grin. I suppose I was just trying separate myself a bit from two years of OG obsession and think why people might not have entirely warmed to Georgie yet. I think we don't know her very well so definitely need four more episodes to improve our knowledge. We were lucky that we had a head start with Molly and had already seen her transition from no-hoper to someone going places that she'd never imagined. At the moment Georgie is already sort of there. I'm sure we'll learn more in time - I won't give up on it.

Ilovelblue · 09/09/2016 16:37

It's almost as if we've set ourselves up to fail. A classic case of being so excited about something and it then never quite turns out how you expect. Whereas if you're not really looking forward to something (and would often desperately try to get out of it), it turns out to be great!

Rhubarb01 · 09/09/2016 16:46

Absolutely, ilove but then I'm also thinking we didn't know anything about CJ at the start of the last series but it didn't take us very long to like and root for him. I have my hopes pinned on Elvis - whereas woof is just pinned to Elvis - remember the gorilla grip manoeuvere?

Moving on however, what are we thinking about an episode 1 watchalong before next Wednesday? Any ideas if or when?

moojangles · 09/09/2016 17:18

I like the sound of that rhu

pixieg1rl · 09/09/2016 17:23

I'm up for a rewatch. Thinking of watching again this evening

Rhubarb01 · 09/09/2016 17:35

I could manage a watch along tonight or let's be honest probably any evening between now and Wednesday except 9pm on Sunday when another Captain needs my attention!

Ilovelblue · 09/09/2016 17:39

I'll fit in with whatever you want. I'm around most of the weekend.

moojangles · 09/09/2016 17:40

Might gonna need to go to GL's tent in Kenya if our wifi doesn't sort itself out soon. Tonight could be good

Bellini12 · 09/09/2016 17:45

I think that although we all know who LT is, we just bonded with her character in OG instantly. Whereas I can't seem to separate the Georgie Lane character with the real person MK who is now a bit of a celebrity (column in OK magazine, make up range, clothing line, celebrity husband) etc. The media love her so I'm always having information on her pop up in my FB! She is marketed very well (hence all the cosmetic procedures and why she is always looking so preened) but LT is a private person on the whole. Nothing wrong with MK may I add, I'm just finding it hard to identify with her character as I don't believe an army medic would be so glam or have the time or the inclination to look like that!

MaddieMoo82 · 09/09/2016 17:46

Oooh MrMads has football tonight so if I get DS to sleep I could manage a rewatch at 9ish?

Rhubarb01 · 09/09/2016 17:48

What time tonight would suit if it sounds OK to everyone. I can tell my 'little bleeders' to keep out whenever but I know others may have littlies to attend to. Actually DS referred to the lounge being in 'lock down' on Wednesday evening and they were all terrified to enter unless they incurred the 'Wrath of Mum'. Clearly I have done very well at cultivating an aura of fear - I kid myself.

Ilovelblue · 09/09/2016 17:54

9pm is fine for me ladies.

Rhubarb01 · 09/09/2016 18:04

9pm suits here.

pixieg1rl · 09/09/2016 18:13

9pm is good for me too!

Rhubarb01 · 09/09/2016 18:16

I think what you're saying is true bel. MK's celebrity is a blessing and a curse. Her popularity has greatly increased the publicity around this series but from her own point of view it must be very difficult if you really want to break out of the mould and do something very different like OG because you want to stretch and challenge yourself and the public perception of you. Let's keep our fingers crossed that we'll all be eating our words and giving her a virtual clap on the back at the end of this series.

Nickel45 · 09/09/2016 18:32

Cool. I'll be here at 9 as long as the little bleeders (that autocorrected to blessings ... autocorrect obvs doesn't know my two!) go to bed ... But by the time you've re-watched Elvis getting his kit off a few thousand times I'll have caught up. Fab idea :)
