Welcome to Thread 134 of rampant Muskeperving over plot appreciation of BBCMusketeers and their FAF actors.

We're in recovery from Episode six Sex still, so help yourselves to a drink from the bar, apart from the pre-poured whiskies. They're for VIPs. Obvs - if you're a VIP, help yourself Grin

So Solid Crew madame? Always remind me of Blazin' Squad - too many band members for me to take seriously Wink

Grin @ Rasputin brenda. No idea about first names, sorry. I think I suffer from the same problem as you when watching.

BrendaFurlong · 12/07/2016 21:00

Ra ra Grimaud-tin
Attempted assassin of (among others) the lover of the (Spanish) French Queen
There was a cat that really was gone
Ra ra Grimaud-tin
France's greatest lurk machine
It was a shame how he carried on.

The second line isn't terribly catchy.

I think the original was catchier.

JaneElk · 12/07/2016 21:02

OMG Ariadne, you've saved me!, I honestly thought I was doomed to a life of turgidity in the undercrackers, but thank goodness. All is not lost, there is definitely sensation below L5

And these...

MadamedeChevreuse · 12/07/2016 21:13

Oooh good question brenda! (Lovely song too Grin )

Obvs in the book they've all got real names, but I think the bbc has ignored these. In the show Porthos's first name is def...er...Porthos. He gets called Porthos DuSomething by the judge in the Court of Miracles ep (feat. Asher D)

Did Sister Isabelle call Aramis "René" in KTQ, or am I making that up?

Very odd now I come to think of it that we havent heard Constance call her husband anything other than Dartagnan. Hmm

Maybe shes taking a leaf out of Jane Austen or something, her heroines never seemed to call their beloveds by their first names...

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 12/07/2016 21:14

LOL Brenda - excellent singing skills.

I don't think BBC canon has bothered giving any of them first names, I assumed they'd stuck with Dumas' ones if they'd bothered using any. Dog might have used one in his lengthy introduction to the landlady ("Clean towels are extra") in the first episode but I don't care remember Grin I know the Dumas ones if that helps?

MadamedeChevreuse · 12/07/2016 21:20

Yep helen I think he might have called himself "Charles" to her then. Shame he never got round to introducing himself to his wife...

Basically I think the bbc is pretending the other three's first names are porthos, aramis and athos, so as not to overstretch the audience... Hmm

MadamedeChevreuse · 12/07/2016 21:21

Remember "Thomas d'Athos" on the gravestone of Athos's brother? #makesnosense Confused

MadamedeChevreuse · 12/07/2016 21:24

I wonder what I did with my brain before the Musketeers started?

Hmm
AriadneNoir · 12/07/2016 21:32

elk you're welcome - I had to stop a few times during uploading - to catch breath!! Isn't he just sensational.

And Madame those perfectly formed arms can give a damn good tight squeeze when in a hug.... Wink Shock

JaneElk · 12/07/2016 21:34

Yes Madame the de la Fere's were not particularly imaginative in the naming of their children Hmm Wink

JaneElk · 12/07/2016 21:36

Sensational seems a suitable epithet Ariadne

AriadneNoir · 12/07/2016 21:39

BTW Team Athos - the Carols event is to be on 1st December this year at the Grovsener Chapel, possibly with event afterwards in the evening.

No idea if TB will be there - I suspect that won't be confirmed for a long while yet.

😘😘

BrendaFurlong · 12/07/2016 21:46

Dumas's originals would be good thanks Helen. The only things I remember are that Dog's dad was Alexandre like Dumas and Porthos's mother had the same name as Dumas's grandmother in a nice nod to their African heritage.

MadamedeChevreuse · 12/07/2016 21:50

Rene Dublay is Aramis brenda.

Charles Dartagnan.

Olivier de la fere (?)

Porthos...cant remember...

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 12/07/2016 21:51

Athos = Olivier d'Athos, Comte de la Fere (from a Dumas play, rather than the books)
Porthos - Porthos du Vallon (same as in BBC)
Aramis - René d'Herblay
Dog - Charles d'Artagnan

Some Boney M is always welcome on thread - Oh those Russians indeed Vronsky

I expect you kept your brain somewhere other than the gutter before TM started madame. Like the rest of us!

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 12/07/2016 22:15

My brain didn't know half as much about Musketeers 17th Century France before the series started. It is an educational prog., obviously Grin

Madame I remember various people spitting feathers over the whole 'Thomas d'Athos' thing on the tomb, even though I think he was entirely invented for the series.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 12/07/2016 22:35

Ohh to hayloft now - stupid early start tomorrow.
Night all

PS - Athos will be a bit tied up for a while... Wink

Night Helen

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 13/07/2016 09:22

Morning all. lovely and sunny so have put rug on to wash - the one that Inconvenient Cat threw up all over last night And one of the hens is looking v sorry for herself. On the plus side I have been feeding my new bees so they are not in imminent danger of starvation from too-much-rain-to-get-out-of-the-hive.

Right. Work.

Morning. Welcome Brenda. I forgot to say that last time you posted. Love Boney M.

Regarding Athos's name. I always thought the d'Athos bit referred to the region of France where he was born. Therefore it follows that Thomas would have the same middle name. That might be a figment of my imagination though. Hmm

JaneElk · 13/07/2016 10:08

New bees? excellent.... Wink

Love BoneyM, in fact I'm going to put some on and have a dance round the kitchen.

Mmmm Olivier d'Athos de la Fere....rolls very nicely off the tongue doesn't it

JaneElk · 13/07/2016 10:38

Sorry Brenda, I didn't say hello, I had my head turned by the man roped to the rafters.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 13/07/2016 10:39

Elk they came to visit the weekend after you visited - I thought they were just robbing the hives of last year's honey dregs, but they obviously moved in at some point, because I have two hives, both with laying queens - yay!

Apricot love that review - the magic clinking bullet Grin Fingers crossed to wifi at the caravan...

Morning

Yaaay for new bees and the Grimaud song. And for learning new things Grin

I'm just waiting for the health visitor to arrive Hmm. The boys are fractious and want to go out. She rang at 10 to 10 and said she'd be round when her next visit was over, sometime this morning. She has about half an hour before I just go out anyway. Silly bint.
