Am 2 eps behind so apologies if this has now been portrayed) MD can be adult onset but when it's passed down there can be something called 'anticipation' which in genetic terms means the onset can be earlier and generally does get earlier so in theory Jim's symptoms start in his 60's, Steve's in his 40's and his affected children from childhood. It can obviously reduce life expectancy.
Think that should have been made clearer as this would be a major panic for Michelle- Tracy seems weirdly non-bothered about the whole thing.
I was diagnosed with it a couple years back my diagnosis after referrals and tests took 10 months but have read Steve gets his back next week that's dramatic license don't think anyone would have watched 10 months worth of it ;)

Yeah, but Steve's not having a diagnosis.

He's just having a genetic test to see if he's carrying the disease.

If you are carrying the disease that is a diagnosis, he either has it or he doesn't itswim. The severity of symptoms/onset of symptoms can obviously vary.
My guess is he won't have it and hopefully once all the baby drama is over he can go back to being a comedy character that's what the actor's best at.

My guess is Michelle will lose the baby. She will blame herself and say it's payback because she contemplated an abortion etc. Leanne will have her baby and Steve will want to have some involvement as he has lost his other child. Cue lots of shouting matches with Nick. Michelle will find out and run to Robert for comfort. They will have an affair.
