Jason leaving has to help, he is more wooden than a clothes peg.

I wish Kym Marsh was properly leaving too - I feel they are taunting us with what could have been with all this cruise ship talk.

Thought Todd had washed his hands of the scam? Next thing he's getting Rita to sign up for one!

JustDanceAddict · 07/10/2016 09:17

I hate the Phelan storyline - I'm not watching it much now as it's gone to shit recently - bit like Eastenders as I just dip into that only occasionally now.

AlasEarwax · 07/10/2016 10:44

Sarah was given some money from uncle wotsisname in Milan I think MadHatter

I hated phelan the first time round when he was involved with Owen etc, and I still hate him now, but I'm morbidly fascinated with what's going to happen with this story line. I don't know any spoilers and I have no idea how long this story will run for, but I hope its all over soon.

As an aside, I love the building they chose for the imaginary flats. Smile

AlasEarwax · 07/10/2016 10:47

And it crossed my mind the other day that Pat Phelan might not actually be his real name. The fake IDs made me think that he moves to a town, causes havoc, changes his name, moves on, causes havoc.... Or have I been watching too many US dramas? Grin

mollie123 · 07/10/2016 11:05

Uncle Stephen gave Sarah 15K - the down-payment for the luxury flat - she would I assume have to get a mortgage for the rest! She never seems to be working much and even as a single parent I cannot see how she can get enough with tax credits etc to fund the remaining cost of the flat (85K??)
and she has no child maintenance as both dads are dead.
I think the Rita signing up for flat no 8 was a plot device (she would also not have the wherewithall to buy unless she sells all her assets) so that Eileen (who has been extremely slow-witted in not twigging sooner), can realise that something is rotten when she is told flat 8 was sold to 'shady customer' by the evil Vinnie.
Re the tiles - how big a space would they have to have to store £30k worth of plain white tiles (top end design apparently) ? it would be a lot of boxes - off-topic I know!

MadHattersWineParty · 07/10/2016 11:06

I think she did get some money but surely not enough to buy a two bedroom newly converted flat without talking to the bank?

I think they'll be a 'big event' shown over Christmas. Which better be more than last year's Hope-lying wan-on-the-sofa-while-Tyrone-gets -a-payday-loan-for-some-fake-snow-and-Fizz-wrings-hands storyline.

MadHattersWineParty · 07/10/2016 11:08

So many residents seem to be able to conjur up this Magic 15k!!

Why have they never been tempted to invest it before?!

eddiemairswife · 07/10/2016 11:41

With reference to the Hope-related Christmas, both Hope and Ruby haven't been seen since, apart from a very rare mention by Fizz or Tyrone when drinking at the Rover's. Presumably they've been left home alone until recently, but now that Craig has taken up residence he is the ever available child-minder. If they pay him for baby-sitting would he need to be CRB(?) checked?

SoTheySentMeA · 07/10/2016 22:05

Gary and Sarah is more believable than Gary and Izzy.

There. I said it.

Akire · 07/10/2016 22:13

How many hours is Sarah supposed to work? If her mum looks after baby she could get full time job.

could have been a good eating disorder story line seems to have been cured after one good chat!

Agree least Gary and Sarah have defence to look all sparkly in each other's presence

storynanny · 07/10/2016 22:21

Can someone give me a quick précis, I've been away for 2 weeks. Who is the football chap and have kirk and Beth split up?
That seems to be all I've missed in about ten episodes!

eddiemairswife · 07/10/2016 23:16

Michelle is planning the football chap's wedding, and Kirk is staying with Maria since he realised their marriage was bigamous.

NuggetofPurestGreen · 07/10/2016 23:17

Sarah hasn't even been working she was in asking Liz if she can come back the other day and I haven't actually seen her at work yet.

NuggetofPurestGreen · 07/10/2016 23:19

storynanny there's been loads of nonsense about Todd, Phelan and the flats but even those of us that have been watching it can't follow it. Todd decided to be evil and go in on the scam, then got back with Billy and decided to be good and not get involved but now he seems to be in on it again with proviso that Eileen and Jason don't lose any money.

Maria got burgled and let Caz move back in but has now got sense and told her to get out so Caz has stolen her credit card and reported her sham marriage to the gay bloke to the home office.

NuggetofPurestGreen · 07/10/2016 23:21

Oh and Cathy found out her dead husband is Alex's father and got amnoyed but is over it now.

storynanny · 08/10/2016 00:17

Ah, thanks for the updates.

mollie123 · 08/10/2016 05:38

and Ozzie dog died Sad

Olddear · 09/10/2016 16:08

And flat 8 with the lakeside view is proving very popular. It's already been sold to 2 different people

eatdrinkandbemarysfairy · 10/10/2016 18:27

are micheal and gail married, i can remember them going to get married but gail said no because of andys secret but did they get round to tying the knot

eddiemairswife · 10/10/2016 18:58

I think they did. I remember Gail in a short wedding dress.

NuggetofPurestGreen · 10/10/2016 19:25

They did because Gail's name is Rodwell now.

Akire · 10/10/2016 22:22

I'm not sure liking where baby news is going. The "lets wait see what we are dealing with" sounds like we just abort the baby if it will have any illness in 70y. V depressing. Didn't catch what it was to be able to google it. Given Steves dad is what 65/70 Steve is in his 40s and well so far. Why the dramatic urgency? Am I just an unflappable uncaring cow?

I've got a acquired disability in my 30s so suppose I'm less likely to freak out given by time you are 70 could have range of limited life illness or disease stroke, heart disease, dementia anything.

Twoseventhsaweasley · 11/10/2016 09:31

It is all just so convoluted. The whole thing is designed to make sure everyone finds out that Steve is the father of Leanne's baby. It is really silly.

Perhaps the idea is that Jim has been very lucky to be so old before symptoms show themselves, and the baby could potentially be affected much more severely and show symptoms much earlier.

It is still really daft though.

NuggetofPurestGreen · 11/10/2016 10:16

Think it is a form of muscular dystrophy but must have adult onset? It's a very convoluted way of focusing on the two babies issue I agree.

MadHattersWineParty · 11/10/2016 14:54

Does it only get passed on to makes it something?

As no one seems to have mentioned Amy?!
