Morning. Well, I got through three and a half episodes of The Living and the Dead before I thought I really must go to bed Grin. So, I suppose you can guess that I quite liked it. It was written by the same person who wrote Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes which I also liked, so you can expect some intriguing moments that may surprise you. There are also shades of Far from the Madding Crowd in places - no Matthias look alikes however. I think because I watched three episodes in quick succession I could see a theme running through and it's drawn me in. I'm not sure if I would have felt the same if I'd watched it one episode per week - I prefer my drama in large chunks. I'll try to watch the rest today because I want to know where it is leading - although recalling Life on Mars etc I'm wondering if it will get resolved by episode 6.

As long as you tell yourself it's going to be creepy in places then you shouldn't be too scared. I watched it on my own and only covered my eyes a couple of times added to which I had to nip out on foot round the corner after midnight on my own to fetch my daughter from a friend's house and I only felt the need to look over my shoulder once! I'm really liking Colin Morgan in it too and I'm not mad about beards but it suits him here. He's a world away from Merlin and is maturing well - he's young of course but you know what I mean. So, if you like a bit of period set paranormal intrigue it could be for you.

Kelly hope it all goes well. Have a lovely time.

Ilovelblue · 26/06/2016 09:24

Thanks ice. Episode 2 is my favourite as well!

Last day of my week's holiday and off to a National Trust garden on the edge of the Lake District. Fingers crossed the rain holds off.

Ilovelblue · 26/06/2016 09:27

Yes enjoy it Kelly!

pixieg1rl · 26/06/2016 10:19

That sounds good Rhu. I shall add it to my watch list.

We're planning on getting out for a pub lunch today. Got to get my arse into gear instead of drinking tea in my pjs.

Had a lovely day and a bit away avoiding the world!
kelly enjoy the ceremony. Tried the Musketeers last night, didn't have a clue. Will add The Living and the Dead to the watch list.

mooj hope you went somewhere nice. Must admit, I enjoyed getting away from all the referendum fallout today (I see you've already looked at my Facebook post). My only problem was that the friend I went with almost certainly voted to leave when I voted to stay so I thought it prudent to keep off the subject. I still can't get over how we seem to be falling apart since the result.

We were very lucky with the weather at the castle - it rained just as we had tea in the cafe at the end and then it poured down on the motorway coming back and is still very wet out there.

Need to get myself sorted for work tomorrow and then I'll be ready for the watchalong.

Rhubarb01 · 26/06/2016 20:58

Evening - present for the watch along.

I've finished The Living and the Dead and my mind is still turning it all over and joining up the dots along the way but I liked it. They've also left the potential for another series from the way it ended, so you never know.

Ilovelblue · 26/06/2016 20:59

Well, I'm here, ready and waiting and reporting in for duty. Who else is around?
