Neighbours Thread - Is Lassiter's the most dangerous hotel in the world?

AnneEyhtMeyer · 03/04/2016 19:52

Starting a new thread ready for the dramas of next week.

Can't believe I'll be on holiday when the all the excitement is going on. That was seriously bad planning.

If Paul dies then I'm not coming home.

My wish list for death: Amy, her son, her mum, Sonya, Ben & Steph.

I also hope for a Dee resurrection. I was so hoping that the "red folder" in Toadie's drawer was an attempt to find her. shame it was just Walter (who has now vanished and is no longer mentioned)! But I read recently that the actress who played Dee now has SIX children, so is potentially too busy for a return to Erinsborough. Shame, as there's a vacancy for the one nursing position since Georgia left & Belinda lost her license.

Lovewineandchocs · 18/07/2016 01:15

Libby isn't coming back-at least not as the new English teacher. The teacher is Elly Conway, Susan's niece.

Lovewineandchocs · 18/07/2016 01:16

Sorry for the spoiler BTW but she'll be in tomorrow's episode anyway Grin

IthoughtATMwasacashpoint · 18/07/2016 16:10

However much I wish they'd send Piper back to Canada, she does have a point about Terese being a hypocrite. Neither parent is a stellar role model.

Looks like Elly is set to ruffle quite a few feathers, on first impression I'm really not keen, but I'll wait and see if she grows on me.

Who on earth cut Brad's hair?

ReggaeShark · 18/07/2016 16:51

Oh god Maddy or whatever her name is isn't going to be the next 'singer' is she?

Clawdy · 18/07/2016 19:21

And how long before Xanthe discovers Ben was paid to take her to the prom? And sobs that she hates him, and he's distraught because he really, really likes her, but she won't believe him!

HairsprayQueen · 18/07/2016 19:51

Gosh the end bit was a lot to take in!

That wig, I refuse to believe anyone would think that was a good idea for going out with Tyler in.

BusMum79 · 18/07/2016 20:11

The ending was indeed a lot to take in - especially the trailer. I'm assuming that the brick etc through Toadie's window must be courtesy of Belinda. As for Ty-per: oh dear. I was actually quite pro them going out as I can never figure out how old he's actually supposed to be, but today it was very obvious that it could never happen and she is super immature. The wig was ridiculous. As for Xanthe: I LOVE her and I want her and Ben to sort out the whole payment for prom thing and put it behind them ASAP so they can get on with being a proper couple with exactly the kind of teen dilemmas Neighbours was created for!

TheWashingFairyatemyhamster · 18/07/2016 22:03

Can I join in? Long time lurker with an Aussie soap addiction.

Not happy to see Martha from Home and Away and her ridiculous gnashers turn up in Erinsborough.

AGnu · 18/07/2016 22:46

If we're calling them Typer, can we also have Xen? Grin

GwendolynPost · 18/07/2016 22:48

Can someone fill me in on Elly's backstory?
I vaguely remember her in it years ago (as an appallingly bad actress) but I think she returned when I wasn't watching!

IthoughtATMwasacashpoint · 19/07/2016 00:38

Those teeth were definitely designed for, and would look better on, a horse

HairsprayQueen · 19/07/2016 07:44

Don't tell Mark that- he's given a big lecture to someone on the Neighbours Instagram who said similar!

TheWashingFairyatemyhamster · 19/07/2016 07:52

He should watch out. The last copper that hung about with her ended up dead.

Actually isn't Martha supposedly in witness protection? Yet another job for Susan and Karl - provision of a safe house for those in witness protection.

BusMum79 · 19/07/2016 08:11

Yes AGnu, Xen it is!
As for Elly, my memory of her is very hazy. I seem to recall she was friends with Michelle Scully but that's about it. And that she didn't get on very well with Karl. So random that they've brought her back. There are too many new characters at the moment IMHO and it's getting increasingly difficult for even the most loyal viewer to care about them. Still, at least the trailer promised some genuinely "unmissable drama" so fingers crossed...

wiki entry on Elly Conway

Elly became a rebellious teenager after her mother neglected her and she was expelled from her boarding school for smoking cannabis. Her mother Liz (Christine Keogh) comes to Erinsborough to see her sister, Susan, and she asks her to take care of Elly, as she is going to Sweden for six months. A week later, Susan receives a call telling her that Elly is on her way. Elly arrives in Ramsay Street, accompanied by the police, shocking Susan. Elly forms a bond with her cousin Darcy (Mark Raffety), but she struggles to get along with Karl. Susan faces a dilemma when she realises Elly thinks she is staying for a couple of weeks, instead of six months. Darcy decides to tell her the truth, but Elly does not believe him and she is devastated when her friend Michelle Scully (Kate Keltie) confirms the news. Elly believes that she is getting a ticket to Stockholm, when her mother tells her to expect something in the post. However, she is disappointed when she receives a credit card. Elly then books herself on a flight to see her mother, but Susan manages to stop her from leaving. Elly forms a close relationship with Michelle, although they get off to a bad start when Michelle accuses Elly of cheating with her boyfriend, Zack Shaw (Owen Lee).

Zack starts spreading rumours about Michelle and she teams up with Elly to get back at him. They write rumors about him on the blackboard and they are caught by Susan. Elly sticks up for Michelle, straining her relationship with Susan and Karl in the process. Elly tells them that she is going to move out when she turns sixteen, but after listening to Lyn Scully (Janet Andrewartha) talk about family, she changes her mind. Elly saves Darcy from the sudden effects of a heart problem, by giving him CPR. Elly is hailed a hero and she is given some work experience at the surgery. Elly briefly dates Tad Reeves (Jonathon Dutton). Karl and Susan decide to find out who Elly's father is, so they can give her some stability. Elly finds out and she helps track down Ian Conway, who she believes is her father. Ian shocks Elly when he tells her that he had been informed Karl was her father. Elly asks Libby (Kym Valentine) if her father had ever had an affair and Libby admits that he did. Elly confronts Karl, but he tells her that he never had an affair with Liz. Elly tells him that she is disappointed. Liz returns and reveals she is pregnant. Elly asks her who her father is and Liz admits that it is Ian and that she had lied to him. Elly is devastated by her mother's neglect, especially when Liz forgets her birthday. When Liz asks Elly to come to Sweden with her, Elly is unsure, but decides to give her mother a second chance. She and Liz then leave for Sweden.

Woodhill · 19/07/2016 15:39

Piper looked like a reject from Grease in that wig.

Agree about Brad's hair. Why would he be involved with prom, very unprofessional as per usual Neighbours.

Madison is dreadful.

Samcro · 19/07/2016 16:02

gosh martha/elly is awful
and who the heck is her mum ? i thought Susan had one sister, who son was Darcy

AnneEyhtMeyer · 19/07/2016 18:34

Just caught up on the last couple of days.

Elly is a strange one. I don't remember her at all so she must have been on when I was living abroad for a while, although I remember most of the other characters mentioned in that useful synopsis from Wiki above.

She is being portrayed as a complete beauty, but agree she looks like a horse.

Piper's wig - why??? Why would you put on a comedy wig for your prom? And why is she wearing her real hair in Minnie Mouse ears???

I love Xen - hope they get it sorted.

OP posts:
Clawdy · 19/07/2016 19:04

Well I knew Xanthe would find out but never thought her dad would be so stupid! I am still convinced Paul is hatching something against Gary......revenge is a dish best eaten cold as they say!

BlackCelebration · 19/07/2016 20:30

I am ashamed to say I can't stand Jodi Anasta, perhaps it was the Martha overkill in Home and Away (one soap that makes me cry every day at the moment!) or maybe it's the ridiculous amount of work she's had done to her face, and yes the teeth, she looks terrible. Why the hell do these young women do it? WHHHYYY?!!! Pffffff....I really like Xanthe too....

Katz · 19/07/2016 22:06

Susan has two sisters Carmel is Darcy's mother and Liz is Ellys

Rrross1ges · 19/07/2016 22:21

I would never have recognised Martha. She's like the waxwork of RedRum.

MiddleClassProblem · 19/07/2016 23:35

It's crazy how much work she's had done. Her whole face has changed shape.

AND WHY THE WIG? Did I miss an explanation?

Haven't caught up with today's yet but watching the snake bit DH said "but it's Australia, they must have snakes around all the time" Grin

Also loving Xen but mostly the Xanthe part

Also a DS spoiler fan here x

prettybird · 20/07/2016 15:30

Now that you've mentioned her teeth, I can't stop noticing them Shock
