You dont get free netflix, but you can change the contry that they thonk that you are in so that you can access diffrent contents. Some countrys have loads more than the uk.

Well you used to be able to.

I've known quite a few people get fined in the region of €800 or so for torrenting in Germany.

Sure you can stream things, that's not actually illegal, it's illegal for the person who is hosting it, not you watching it. But complaining about it is a bit stupid. You're effectively doing the equivalent of watching TV through somebody's window or buying a DVD filmed with a camcorder in the cinema. It's not exactly going to be a prime user experience.

Either pay for stuff or stop moaning that your (borrowed/stolen) content is shit and/or difficult to access. That's kind of the point!

nah, the point is that, because everything can be copied and distributed online at zero cost, the old model of paying for things is broken

actually putlocker is very watchable, even on a large screen, and very easy to access

a poor analogy which fails to acknowledge the way that the online world has transformed media and entertainment

This is why the Netflix crackdown is baffling?!?
People who were paying for Netflix will now turn to the torrenting sites.
Regional distribution in this day and age is a joke

No the first point is correct. If no one paid for movies or tv shows then content would become stale and dwindle very fast. This stuff costs a LOT of money to make and illegally streaming/downloading has cost a lot of companies a huge amount of revenue over the last few years.

I do believe firmly that production companies should be licensing content to Netflix etc on a world wide basis but I do not agree that just illegally downloading it if they don't immediately do this is the solution.

If everyone just used showbox, putlocker etc then content would vanish. Companies have ZERO way to make money on things illegally downloaded. There are no adverts in them to generate revenue and there is no cost to the consumer to be passed on. Granted there are a lot of issues with today's film and tv industry and often stars are overpaid but with no form of revenue NO ONE would be getting paid, not actors, not crew, not writers. Content needs to be paid for. You wouldn't expect a plumber to fix your boiler for free would you?

It pisses me off royally that people think they are owed something for nothing when it comes to this stuff. It is £6 a month for netflix. Not exactly bank breaking and less than a tv license (which you don't even need to watch netflix) It isn't a lot per person but added up on an international scale means that these shows can get made. Shows like OITNB are made by Netflix themselves. These shows wouldn't even exist without paid services like Netflix.

The advent of Netflix, Amazon etc means that streaming media is now cheaper than it has ever been before. There is no reason not to pay your dues and support the industry.

the reason is that there is no way of practically enforcing it
I'm not talking about moral issues, I'm talking about what actually happens in an economy, the mumsy mumsnet do gooders can say what they like about illegally downloading not being the solution, you are whistling in the wind

I agree with SuzanneCaravaggio.

Also, ''support the industry''. Well, I think everybody involved in successful TV and film is earning more than enough. It's not like support SNAs or support Carers.

To be clear I'm not advocating theft, lawbreaking etc just pointing out that digital media the internet etc are disruptive technologies, paradigm shifts are required

Hi, We're living in Munich at the moment so desperatly need US and UK Netflix and at the moment (touch wood) both are working with a service called Getflix. We used to use unblockus but that has stopped working and the service has been terrible. Get the free trial for Getflix and change your region to 'US (Test)' and it should work :)
