I think it might just be that the sw found out she could do an excellent Bassey at a staff shindig and shoe horned it into the plot just to show it off. Also I think thry do quite like to surprise with the development of Eva from a spoilt clothes horse into a far more rounded character.

Also hope that Erica's unfortunate "you spell whore with a W" does not spell the end of her friendship with Mary. There was definite mileage for the two of them to discuss their travels.

I'm a bit about Eva and Aidan - are they a couple? I seem to recall at Christmas them snogging in t'Rovers, and thought they'd got together, but the vibes last night seemed more like her just stepping in as his 'date' for the night, and in the TV guide this week it says something like 'Aidan looks for love'....
