Surely not much longer to wait now until the new producer starts? Things must improve, mustn't they?

Hanging on by my fingernails at the minute.

I just read the Ross Kemp's heading back to EE, kinda got me thinking, who could Corrie bring back to shake it up a bit?

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 22/03/2016 23:33

Martin.
Rosie.
Becky.
Karen.

RudeElf · 22/03/2016 23:48

Would love to see becky back but it wouldnt make sense without steve and the actor is quite ill at the minute.

MissBattleaxe · 22/03/2016 23:50

Actually, now that Sally's a councillor and full of delusions of grandeur, it would be a great time to bring Rosie back and do something scandalous.

RudeElf · 22/03/2016 23:52

What was Rosie's exit storyline?

AnneEyhtMeyer · 23/03/2016 00:14

I thought Steve was back at work now? Isn't he?

Would love to see him come back with Karen in tow.

Didn't Rosie go to London to be a model?

I think they need to introduce new characters slowly and let them grow on people a bit.

Kylie was introduced well. She had a plausible reason for being there and at first we weren't meant to like her but slowly she started growing on us (mostly.)

Then in real life she had a baby resulting in chaos on screen as she couldn't just visit Becky for a few months but this stupid Callum storyline had to be followed. Eva was definitely another 'slow burner' for me.

Lately, new characters are introduced and we are expected to care! We don't! Like that vicar - I can't even remember where he emerged from but he's counselling half the street! Carla's family at the factory seem to have come on because of her gambling addiction which is now a dim and distant memory and they are all squawking about being her family and because none of us knew who Carla's 'real' dad was or had any time to get used to them without knowing them as Carla's family, it's just 'so what?' Plus, it was embarrassingly transparent as soon as the girl (who's name I can't even remember) said she was gay that they were going for a Sophie storyline.

Miley has been forgotten. Was that whole storyline just a last minute thing hastily written up because someone got ill or pregnant in RL?

ColeslawSandwich · 23/03/2016 07:34

Who's Miley? That shows how unforgettable he/she is - the name isn't ringing any bells for me.

BoGrainger · 23/03/2016 07:36

Have started watching again just incase Phelan gets what's coming to him. Do we know if he really HAS lost everything?
Arrggh, got a teeny bit confused about 'Billy' as I didn't know about Todd and Sarah's baby and just thought Todd was referring to the vicar all the time.
And a big fat NO to monologues about people we know nothing about. It was just a blatant time filler.
Looking forward to Sally and Tim and the Council shenanigans.

gardenswithchickensinthem · 23/03/2016 07:44

Miley is Faye's baby who will I think have her first birthday next month.

AnguaResurgam · 23/03/2016 08:06

"What was the point of the silly paint scene with Craig and his girlfriend? Apart from a glimpse of Lily after so long!"

Possibly just a slice of normal life (not everything driving a sensation) and a reminder that Craig exists?

"Didn't Rosie go to London to be a model?"

Yes, and went on a reality TV show.

I'd like to see Spider back, perhaps returning with Emily for a real end-of-life story about character we do care about (maybe he could fight for adequate adult care, deal with dementia etc)

And then perhaps Toyah could at least visit - it could be interesting to see her meet Eva.

RudeElf · 23/03/2016 09:31

Toyah!! I'd forgotten about toyah. Yes would be great to see her back.

Good to hear that steve may be back. Hes a favourite and should never leave IMO.

eddiemairswife · 23/03/2016 09:39

Unfortunately Becky is too busy with her police work, MI5/6 plotting, Victorian retail and 'stooping to conquer'! I fail to see the point of the Marta story.

RudeElf · 23/03/2016 09:41

Yes the marta story seems pointless. A couple of weeks of it and now all is well and marta has had a makeover.

AnguaResurgam · 23/03/2016 09:42

Sorry! Just realised how badly I've worded my previous post. By 'real' end-of-life storyline, I mean "realistic"

I am not wishing illness or death on Emily Darbishire - indeed quite the opposite!

LineyReborn · 23/03/2016 09:44

Was it to bring Eva and Thingy closer together? To give Vicar Billy something to do? To lead to another lost order thus giving Fizz something else to moan on about?

SymphonyofShadows · 23/03/2016 09:51

Perhaps the paint scene was to give the Platts a new kitchen, which may lead to them finding an issue with the plumbing, which of course runs under the old garage...

AnguaResurgam · 23/03/2016 09:55

Symphony

If you're right, then I hope they get a wriggle on, so that storyline can be over ASAP. I don't really care how they do it. I just want it over.

Glad that Gemma isn't shouting all the time now. She was unwatchable before, but perhaps there's hope.

RudeElf · 23/03/2016 09:55

Ahh good thinking symphony

Whatever the point of the marta story i wish they would actually address the issue properly. Slavery like that is an actual problem and isnt solved as quickly as slapping a bit of make up on and youre grand. They shouldnt use massive societal issues like that unless it is to properly hilight the issue. As it was it seemed like it could have been going somewhere and then suddenly dropped.

whatdoIget · 23/03/2016 10:10

Yy RudeElf. Eva asked about marta's family and Marta said something like 'I spoke to the police and they said my family will be safe'
So that's ok then. And who'd have thought they have makeup artists in Salvation Army shelters? Hmm

Rachel0Greep · 23/03/2016 10:21

Agreed RudeElf, they don't do any of the 'issue' storylines properly, in my opinion. Just drop them in, and then they are solved, just like that. Marta turning up, all smiles, was just ridiculous.

Same with the cancer storyline for 'ope, Max's magical 'cure'...there are just so many, where they do a disservice to the actual condition or issue, by the way it is portrayed.

AnguaResurgam · 23/03/2016 10:37

They used to do issue storylines really, really well.

Hayley probably did more for the transgender community in UK than anything else I can think of. And what Roy had to say when they were finally able to marry reached more people and had more impact than all the other campaigning put together.

RudeElf · 23/03/2016 10:46

Yes Roy and Hayley seemed to get some belter storylines that were so well done. Bring back that level of committment!

Rachel0Greep · 23/03/2016 11:14

True. I was wallowing in old Corries last night, on DVD, and that was one of the stories featured, Roy and Hayley. Roy was asking Hayley if they could be in a relationship, but he said they would need to take things slowly, 'not because of you, but because of me.' It was just so well done.

And Alma's departure, omg, where they are watching the video, after her death, would still bring tears to my eyes. It was so 'real'.

NuggetofPurestGreen · 23/03/2016 11:30

Did anyone notice that Ty was there when Sean told Fiz about the o Driscolls and the slavery but then later Ty asked Fiz what was wrong and she said 'I'll spare you the gory details but we lost a big account'. He already knew the gory details!
