Am I the only one deeply disturbed by Fats death?

His Mum used to lock him up as a kid and being trapped is the last thing he ever knows? Very disturbing made me want to cry.

Yes the death was too grisly for what is basically an early evening pre watershed soap. You'd expect a death like that in a gritty 18 film. It was a step too far.

I think they've really got themselves into a hole by deciding Bobby killed Lucy and involving so many covering it up. They can't all go down for it. There'd be no one left on the square!

Whoever was stuck in the boot wouldn't they have been heard shouting (if muffled)? Wouldn't they have been banging desparately not rhythmically like that?

Yes it was grisly and disturbing but maybe the writers wanted to make the point that sometimes horrible things happen to good people. I wish Fatboy hadn't been written out - I loved his scenes with Dot and felt that him and Donna would have made an interesting couple.

I actually woke up in the night thinking about Fat boy being crushed to death!

Yes, they could also have kicked out the rear light.

Either way I have no idea what the writers are doing / thinking.

Anyone disturbed by that scene should really tell the BBC here: ssl.bbc.co.uk/complaints/forms/?lang=en&uid=547670658#anchor

He was probably bound and gagged. Horribly gangster-ish for a soap.

Ronnie confused me because she was so upset that the car crushing happened and claimed that the "goons" were only supposed to scare Vincent and they took it too far. But she gave the order to have the car crushed. She knew where the car had been taken and I'm sure I remember her telling the person in the boot that it was going to happen.

MagpieCursedTea · 27/12/2015 11:48

Where does Ronnie keep finding these goons anyway?

Didn't Vincent notice his car wasn't at his house?

spring1bee · 27/12/2015 12:05

oh god poor Arthur :( that really was horrible. And poor poor Dot- do the writers just hate her or something??

Am I being really stupid here or is Kush actually not the father after all? I understand her lying to Shabnam but later on when she was holding the baby and said "no one will ever find out who your real father is." Was she talking about Kush then or someone else??

Report
spring1bee · 27/12/2015 12:06

MistyBells same! I had a nightmare that I was locked in the boot of a car.

Report
BlueThursday · 27/12/2015 12:11

Ooh I didn't hear that spring I must have missed that scene as I didn't see her hide batteries either

I think part of Stacey's pp psychosis is that she believes the baby is the son of God. Hence saying it's not Kush's.

Poor Stacey people ought to be looking out for her a bit more than she's been getting I think. I know Martins thick but supposedly he's read into BPD and should at least be aware of Stacey's wellbeing

I'm a bit confused as to why Vincent didn't tell Ronnie who it was. Is he still trying to protect her or has the penny dropped that it was his Mum who made sure Fatboy was the driver?

Report
notquitehuman · 27/12/2015 13:57

I think it's a combination of Vincent feeling ashamed that the war he's waged between the families has led to Fatboy's death, and because of his feelings for Ronnie. Claudette is also pretty much to blame.

Those who are afraid of car crushers should never watch Torchwood. Xmas Grin

If Vincent had told Ronnie she could have done something to cover it up/go on the run - by not telling her he has the upper hand, something he can use against her that she doesn't know about.

With the Stacey storyline - does postnatal depression/psychosis start immediately after the birth?

Report
BlueThursday · 27/12/2015 15:28

We know Stacey's been off her usual medication whilst pregnant but I've no knowledge of how real life would pan out which is fine because it seems the writers don't really either

Report
Optimist1 · 27/12/2015 15:52

If I recall, Ronnie visited the Arches while there was someone in the boot of the car and spoke to Vincent, calling him by name. Why on earth didn't Fats call out to her that it was him, not Vincent?

And surely the police will be able to determine who was driving Phil's car when it crashed by looking at the seat belt bruising he and Ian sustained?

Any chance that Kat and Alfie's appearance is just a figment of Stacey's imagination?

To answer Nancy's question, postnatal psychosis can start within hours of the birth to a few weeks later. Women with bipolar are more likely than others to develop it which usually means very close monitoring and a lot of support.
