I know what you mean about Helen ilove I was put off her when they were getting their partners picked for them and she said on live TV she was worried in case she was going to be put with Anton. Poor little Anton's face too. Sad She may try and come across sweetness and light but I think she could be quite nasty.

Dizzydots · 25/10/2015 10:29

Thanks maddie hope it's as good as her previous stories. Has anyone else followed cat over to her new 'reading room'? I loved DTT and sanctuary and couldn't get them out of my head for ages, she's about to start publishing her new one, An Unexpected Harvest Smile

Ditto to all of that ilove. I'm feeling quite depressed for him this morning after actually watching some ep3. I just don't get it, is Hollywood seriously more likely to come knocking on Reigns door than the BBCs etc ??? I'd have thought it might even be putting him at a disadvantage. And if he's stuck with it because it's all he's getting then why, why, why.... He's in the right age category, got the right looks, proved his versatility as an actor - why, why, why isn't he getting more high profile roles. I'm in a real sulk now Hmm. Sorry for the rant but hadn't quite realised til now what a waste it is.

Ilovelblue · 25/10/2015 10:30

And Jen I've just read your latest chapter. Been chortling to myself throughout Loved the cake!!! I hope we get another chapter soon.

Dizzydots · 25/10/2015 10:32

Oh and, no ilove never heard that one before, but what better excuse for a blackberry fest before 31st just in case Smile.

Right I'm off to cheer myself up, with our long overdue tax returns Sad

KellyHb · 25/10/2015 11:19

There's no nothing like a good rant dizzy I do one daily

MaddieMoo82 · 25/10/2015 11:53

No worries dizzy I'm over in the reading room too and can't wait for farmer darcy! Have no idea how it all works so can't really search for any other work!

Dizzydots · 25/10/2015 14:04

Me neither, I only signed up for Farmer Darcy Smile. Bit disappointed to see it hasn't started yet as was hoping to have some catching up to do - not sure how it's going to be waiting week on week for new chapters - I couldn't put the other two down. Loved them both so much. Still if the prologue is anything to go by it'll be worth the wait.

Ilovelblue · 25/10/2015 14:40

Been working in the garden today and got about a third of the way round, clearing up the bits of rubble etc that have been left behind. Also planted some 'Jackpot' tulips I got in Amsterdam earlier in the year. The name always makes me laugh as I think of episode 2 in OG.

Going out on my bike now whilst it's fine and I still have some energy left before it goes dark.

KellyHb · 25/10/2015 15:03

jen love the new chawrRight I'm getting sorted before I'm off out tonight.

KellyHb · 25/10/2015 15:13

What?! My tablet sent that message by itself!!

I was saying jen great new chapter. CJ and Molly characters you have spot on as always. Star

I'm getting ready to go out soon. I'm going to see the RAF Concert Band at the Sage tonight. Its a tour they're doing to mark the 75th anniversary of the Battle Of Britain. I think it's 3 RAF bands playing altogether. Should be good.

I'm going with my Dad as my Mam isnt well enough to go and I know how excited he was about going and he didnt want to cancel so I'm going with him.

I'll keep my eyes open for any RAF CJ lookalikes.

Have a nice evening everyone.

Dizzydots · 25/10/2015 15:41

Enjoy the band kelly and the eye candy Smile

pixieg1rl · 25/10/2015 16:41

Enjoy your evening out Kelly.

I'm feeling very sorry for myself, I had been due an evening out to see a band tonight but I feel so crappy I just can't go. I've been looking forward to this since August. Angry

Sorry your poorly pix Sad
jen the new chapter is fab! Cheered me right up with the cock cake! Can't wait for the wedding.
In some sort of bedtime hell with DS who is overtired and over stimulated due to visiting my mum and dad and the clock change and is shouting and screaming at his cot mobile. Arghh!

pixieg1rl · 25/10/2015 18:42

Rhu, what a treat, 2 chapters. I'm loving this from the added dimension of my Grandad having owned a shop in Ipswich in the 1950s

OP posts:
Rhubarb01 · 25/10/2015 19:07

Thanks pixie. Sorry you're not feeling well and have missed your night out.

Not sure if I ought to confess here to never having been to Ipswich! Blush but it suits the purposes of the story for me. I've only ever been to Great Yarmouth vaguely in that neck of the woods - many moons ago - oh and Harwich once to catch a ferry - very dim and distant past. However, I'm sure Ipswich was lovely then and still is? Smile

pixieg1rl · 25/10/2015 19:20

I don't know if anyone could describe austerity Ipswich as lovely. It was one of those towns that got 'redeveloped' in a rather brutalist/modern way in the 50s and 60s. My dad moved there from London as a young toddler and caught pneumonia within a week, the irony being they were advised to move there for the better air quality. They used to live over the shop for a while as well.

Hattie's line about buses and underground made me smile, Ipswich didn't have an underground, but it did have trams then.

MaddieMoo82 · 25/10/2015 20:03

Oh ice can we vote or is it just suggestions?
Just caught up on your 2 chapters rhu they are fab. Love this story. My brother went to boarding school on the outskirts of Ipswich so have lots of memories of looooong car journeys to drop him off there. Never went into the town though.

icemistOBE · 25/10/2015 20:06

Suggestions Maddie but you can win a voucher Smile You never know Cadbury might listen to us

pixieg1rl · 25/10/2015 20:28

Ooh, Maddie, which one? I went to boarding school in Suffolk

OP posts:
MaddieMoo82 · 25/10/2015 20:53

Oh I might also suggest him then ice Grin
It was the Royal hospital school in Holbrook pixie. He got in there as my dad was a navy officer but the place terrified me.

pixieg1rl · 25/10/2015 22:17

I seem to remember that name from sports fixtures. My school had lots of RAF kids and some army, I don't think there were any navy kids.

OP posts:
Rhubarb01 · 25/10/2015 22:29

Oh goodness someone please check if I've got a pulse! I was reduced to watching Downton live tonight and shouting at regular intervals "I don't care about the bloody hospital."

Had to smile about the Ipswich comments. I didn't imagine it was desperately exciting in the 1950's and your comments about the redevelopment in the 60's and 70's are quite illuminating pixie I have the images in my mind. However, I didn't want to diss somewhere I've never been. Its's a shame the trams have disappeared from practically everywhere (I know they're in Manchester still) gosh how we could do with them now to beat the congestion. I love it when you go to places in Europe where they are still more widely used. Lisbon has lovely old rickety trams that go up quite narrow twisty streets and steep hills.

Just catching Homeland on +1 (haven't got a clue what's going on) and have to say Rupert is looking pretty good orph you've obviously been taking very good care of him.

Ilovelblue · 25/10/2015 22:34

ice I love that link to the Milk Tray man, especially as we mentioned him this morning as a possible job for CJ/BA rather than participating in that dreadful Reign. I've added my vote now!

If you've got time to read it, some of the posts are hilarious! There are some very indignant people who think it's all very outdated and sexist. I thought this one was particularly humorous though:

My milk tray man would be someone who sneaks in catches up on all the washing, puts away the various toys that have found their way to furthest corner of the house from where they're meant to be, gives the house a bit if a spring clean, does the dishes, replaces any bulbs that need replacing, adjusts the odd catching door etc and then leaves before I return having put fresh flowers on the table, tea in the pot, the kettle on so when I return home instead of the daily grind I could sit with a cup of tea and indulge in me time with a few chocs thrown in.
