OP posts:
BrianCoxReborn · 16/10/2015 21:03

I've just typed.this as my Facebook status:

A band who were huge in the 90's on a tv show that was big in the 90's, being hosted by a bloke who was big in the 90's.

This is what happens when Simon Cowell takes over light entertainment. It sucks any talent out and we have to depend on acts from 20 years ago to keep us entertained.

Sparklingbrook · 16/10/2015 21:03

Inkle I was looking for someone to complain to but LeBon/Rhodes/Taylor (John and Roger) are on the credits. Phew.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 16/10/2015 21:03

I really enjoyed it , nostalgia plus a bit of U2.

BrianCoxReborn · 16/10/2015 21:03

Yeah - tell 'em U2.

BrianCoxReborn · 16/10/2015 21:05

I missed the bits with U 2 on because I turned in late and was rather embarrassed by the drum banging/Take That sliding attempt at lad-ness.

InkleWinkle · 16/10/2015 21:06

I suppose it's quite flattering for them Sparkling ??

Sparklingbrook · 16/10/2015 21:08

Ooh I just don't know Inkle. You can't really improve on the original HLTF in my view.
I was a bit cross.

Sparklingbrook · 16/10/2015 21:11

Sorry too much wine. HLTW obvs. Blush

Are you suggesting that Simon Cowell has poached all the good talent...? Not sure about that!

I think TFI should have mixed it up with more current acts, it was all a bit of a nostalgia fest wasn't it. Not that I care, it was fun.

BrianCoxReborn · 16/10/2015 21:14

No, he's sucked the life out of light entertainment with his churning out of constant shite.

He's soaked the industry with mediocre shows and now there's no emerging t.v. talent.

InkleWinkle · 16/10/2015 21:18

Hungry Like The Fox ????

Sparklingbrook · 16/10/2015 21:20

Something like that Inkle. Grin

BrianCoxReborn · 16/10/2015 21:22

Fonz? Grin

mrsleomcgary · 16/10/2015 22:29

Ok,it wasnt as good as it's hay-day but it was never going to be was it?

Agree,U2 we pants (sorry to the fans here) and I am DEVESTATED they didnt get the giant u2 heads dancing on stage with them.

Re Billie being in the audience, didnt spot her husband there but he was on the radio with chris last week,so dont think there are any issues there.

Sallystyle · 16/10/2015 23:16

No they were pants tonight.

It's the worst performance I've ever seen from Bono.

The band were great but his vocals were awful and even I cringed listening.

It is not the norm although he often gets raspy at the end of a tour, but never that bad.

He better be back on form on the 30th Grin

leccybill · 16/10/2015 23:51

Did it used to be on for longer than an hour?
Where were the items such as Fat Lookalikes, Ugly Bloke, Freak or Unique? Or are they not politically correct enough these days?

thunderbird69 · 17/10/2015 10:58

I heard Chris Evans saying that they were going to have new features rather than repeating the old ones. Not sure if it was because they were non-pc or he didn't want to be accused of not having any new ideas.

I didn't mind last night's - it wasn't fantastic but not awful. U2 and Take That sounded pretty bad, I like the idea of having an unsigned act on and hope they do that each week. I think I have a bit of a soft spot for the programme just because of happy memories of the time when it was on, when life was simpler!

KenDoddsDadsDog · 17/10/2015 11:07

Billie's husband was there on a bar stool . The sound wasn't great , DH has watched U2 again this morning , mega fan and it wasn't the best . Hope he's saving his voice for Belfast !

dannydyerismydad · 17/10/2015 11:16

Awful. Lost its wit and sparkle. Where were the cool new indie bands? If you don't want to go new, get back some of the indie bands we loved first time round.

It was slow and stodgy.

Like a late night Loose Women.

lizzydrippingsghost · 17/10/2015 17:42

watched it for half hour as i missed it in the 90s to see if its any good, the best act was the man with the yo yo Grin bonio was crap take thats dancing was awful i turned over and watched the street
