Next Doctor Who companion(s)?

Now it's been confirmed that Clara will be leaving this series, who would you love to see as the new companion(s)? I'm having a failure of imagination with this one ... can't think what sort of team would work best with Capaldi Doctor ...

Can we have Donna back please Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 18/09/2015 15:01

I want David Morrissey to be in Dr Who but not as a companion. He could have a duel with PC and win

DH says he cannot because he was The Other Doctor in the David Tennant Christmas one , but Hey they have a Tardis. Grin

He;s done being Walking Dead.

........writes suggestion to Steve Moffat.........

knittingdad · 18/09/2015 15:03

Aidan Turner. He could have a different love interest each week to keep the gender balance, and then it sets it up for a female Doctor when Capaldi moves on.

regenerationfez · 18/09/2015 15:06

I think they should have one or more of the kids from Sarah Jane Adventures. They must be older now so no old man kidnapping some kids vibes but a nice link to Sarah Jane and they were good!

either someone from sarah jane adventures or an alien .

As far as I can remember the last alien companions were Adric and Nyssa?

Why are they always gobby earthlings now??

and there should be 2 companions, male and female, like in the old days.

although Id love Frank Skinner to join up.

BeckerLleytonNever · 19/09/2015 17:14

I also think they should bring back Jago and Lightfoot (audio series stars and from the talons of Wang cheng) and use lookalikes like Jim Howick as Jago and Larry Rickard as Lightfoot!

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 19/09/2015 17:22

someone from the Sarah Jane adventures

Oh what a brilliant idea, i miss Liz (sladen) the 50th wasn't the same without her. But bringing the lads that played Luke or Clyde would be a brilliant link back.

I think the closest we had to two companions was Rory and Amy I took to Rory far more!

I love the sound of Aiden Turner, I didn't watch Poldark but I loved him in being human fantastic show being repeated on BBC3 atm, he would be an amazing Doctor too!

BestIsWestOfGallifrey · 19/09/2015 21:23

We would like Bernard Cribbins back please.

And I like the sound of the youngsters from Sarah Jane. I am so over the pretty girly companions like Clara. Hated Amy too.

MymbleClement · 19/09/2015 22:10

I want Journey Blue!

landrover · 19/09/2015 23:26

Frank skinner was great!

AbbyCadabra · 20/09/2015 00:26

Bump off Madame Vastra and Strax and bring Jenny into the Tardis. She's fab.

The writers seem to struggle with more than one companion, which is probably why poor Rory spent most of his time in the series dead or unconscious.

And please, Steven Moffat, can you stop with the women constantly telling people to 'shut up' and the slapping? It's not some spunky woman being all sassy and feisty, it's bloody obnoxious and horrible behaviour for kids to see.

Mrsjayy · 20/09/2015 10:31

River song obviously she is his wife near his age or the girl from U.N.I.T who wore the tom baker scarf (cant remember her name and she might have died ) maybe clyde and Rani from sarah jane adventures not luke though he was meh

regenerationfez · 20/09/2015 11:18

I think we need a good female character in the Tardis. I like Clara, although I agree with the unnecessary slapping and shut ups. It's very difficult to stop kids saying it when The Doctor says it all the time.I think if we had a male Doctor with a male companion it would just be too blokey. The stereotypical Middle aged Fan living in his mums basement would love it though, and they saw the end of the show in the '80s.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 20/09/2015 11:20

I love the idea of bringing in the kids from Sarah Jane - Rani; Clyde or Luke or all of them. It's a genius idea - someone start a petition Grin

Clueing4looks · 20/09/2015 11:23

River Song is back for the Christmas special, so could be her. I'd love to audition. Never had any aspirations to be an actress, but my dream job is to be the Doctors companion!

Castrovalva · 20/09/2015 11:56

Frank skinner, or Oswin would be fun. Though an off the wall choice like Catherine Tate would be cool. What about Sara Millican?

But yes PLEASE less slapping and 'shut up' it is not a sign of a strong female character. It is bloody tiresome.

Tardis

Or me. :)

DandyDan · 20/09/2015 13:08

Please, no known actor as the new companion.
Preferably a man/woman combination - not just one.
Preferably older, and from an alien planet, or if not, someone from Earth's past/future.

No-one we have met before (Sarah-Jane Adventures/Jenny/Madame Vastra/Strax etc)

No-one there to be eye-candy.

Capaldi is possibly the worst Doctor I have ever lived through (following on from almost the best Doctor, Matt Smith) (I've watched from Jon Pertwee onwards), so his companions need to be better than Clara. And Moffat needs to stop repeating storylines and dialogue and over-contrived plots.

And definitely less of the "shut up" from both Clara and the Doctor.
Doctor riffing in 1138 with his guitar and tank last night was a new low, comparable to some of the more excruciating episodes with Bonnie Langford. And "Missy" is an appalling piece of pantomime.

Mrsjayy · 20/09/2015 13:50

Claras shut ups just makes her look grumpy and slightly unhinged

Mrsjayy · 20/09/2015 13:51

I like him as the doctor he is getting there

Rivercam · 20/09/2015 21:22

The Sarah Jyane actors is a great idea.

I'm warming to PC as Dr Who. He had a hard act to follow. David Tennant and Matt Smith both had a quirky, energetic nature about them, and I think it has taken time to accept the more mature, more serious Dr.

I think the companion shouldn't be a well known person either. I could never quite accept Catherine Tate as the companion for that reason.

I think Zawe Ashton who was in Fresh Meat would be a good sidekick, and could play a feisty, slightly argumentative companion.

MagpieCursedTea · 20/09/2015 21:31

The companions peaked with Ace. She was (still is!) my absolute hero. Bring her (and her awesome dress sense) back!

IStoleATimeLordAndIRanAway · 22/09/2015 06:54

Rivercam I was hoping he was going to take Journey Blue (Zawe Ashton) with him last series. I'd quite like her to make a comeback.

I can't think of any other names but I'd like them to be an alien, as well. Might have a few less episodes based on Earth then.

Mrsjayy · 22/09/2015 07:56

I loved Donna didnt think i would i hate all that namby pamby i love him but cant have him rubbish Donna wasnt arsed she was great i cried when she left

WaggleBee · 22/09/2015 15:44

Donna was the perfect companion and she had the cruelest exit.

Couldn't stand whiny Amy and drippy Rory and glad smug Clara is finally going.

I like the idea of Osgood. She was funny, intelligent and different.

River bores me now tbh.
