Now it's been confirmed that Clara will be leaving this series, who would you love to see as the new companion(s)? I'm having a failure of imagination with this one ... can't think what sort of team would work best with Capaldi Doctor ...

We were all shouting noo at the tv when donna had her exist dd stormed out the room saying S'not fair slight overreaction Grinbut she was right it wasnt fair

WaggleBee · 22/09/2015 16:05

Like it wasn't bad enough that the potential love of her life couldn't call out her name because of his stutter. Sad Poor Donna.

Although she did find someone else and win the lottery so it's not all bad.

regenerationfez · 22/09/2015 21:05

What do you reckon to Michelle Keegan? She's the bookies favourite although I think she has flushed a serious acting career down the toilet by marrying some idiot from TOWIE. I've never seen her act though.

Mrsjayy · 22/09/2015 23:13

She has not long left corrie thats probably why shes been touted she would be terrible imo

WaggleBee · 23/09/2015 02:52

At the risk of sounding like I don't like anybody...I don't really like Michelle Keegan in things and I just can't imagine her in DW.

I don't think it'll be her but she's good for clicks on certain newspaper sites so maybe why her name is being mentioned so much.

My money is on Osgood or the girl who is in Game of Thrones and confirmed as appearing in an episode this series.

WaggleBee · 23/09/2015 02:53

^ah balls I hope that doesn't count as a spoiler. It was in the trailer. Sorry if it does.

Mrsjayy · 23/09/2015 07:35

Nah its fine

Mrsjayy · 23/09/2015 07:38

Thats who would be first choice i just didnt remember her name

APlaceOnTheCouch · 23/09/2015 08:03

They've had tonnes of pre-publicity about the GoT girl. They don't usually do that for a new companion . . . but I guess that could be a double bluff.

We've not had a boy for a while. That would be good and mean they'd cover their fear of losing viewers because PC isn't of fanciable age to people who liked Matt Smith.

Mrsjayy · 23/09/2015 08:13

She died though suppose its Doctor who nobody is really dead look at clara impossible girl bloody refused to die.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 23/09/2015 08:29

bloody refused to die this made me Grin .

DesertIslandPenguin · 26/09/2015 18:35

I think Arya from GoT is going to turn out to be the Doctor when he was a girl. It's such an outrageous thing for Missy to say...it surely can't have been a lie.

Last male companion was Mickey and last alien (albeit humanoid) was Captain Jack. I'd like to see a proper alien. Bring in Frobisher the penguin from the DW magazine strips! He was awesome!

regenerationfez · 26/09/2015 19:01

The stick poor Matt Smith got on here and other places for being hit with the ugly stick when he was first cast, its funny he's somehow now being seen as a hottie! FWIW I think it's the energy and likeability change that may cause casual viewers to be put off. Last series PC was just grumpy and unpleasant, compared to MS's child-like energy. It was a stupid thing to do, especially when you see how warm PC is in real life. I've not read further than series 4 in GoT but I can't imagine Maisie Williams being able to do both. Doctor Who has a notorious schedule for the main characters.

DesertIslandPenguin · 26/09/2015 19:33

Yeah, I don't think Maisie Williams will be a companion, but I'd be happy with her popping up now and then!

LilacSpunkMonkey · 26/09/2015 19:38

Michelle Keegan? God no! She'd insist on Mark sodding Wright coming with. And I can't stand that bloke.

We may as well have Joey Essex.

Please, please not another teenage girl. I've had my fill of them now.

PeppaWellington · 26/09/2015 20:30

I cannot stand Clara. The actress, not the character. I have no idea about the character as the actress is so hopelessly overacting in a stage school, am dram, musical theatre LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME AND MY PRETTINESS sort of way.

I didn't like her with the long legs either but that's because she was wooden (apart from doing a good scared face) - frankly, they could bring in Nigel Farage or Katie Hopkins and they'd be better. Amy! That was her name - I liked Rory though. A lot.

Bring back Donna or Martha! Sarah Jane's son is a good suggestion. I'd quite like someone grumpy and argumentative to counteract the Doctor's hyperactive optimism. There is NO comedy with Clara.

PS I couldn't remember Katie Hopkins' surname so I typed into Google 'Evil Katie' and 'Hopkins' was the first suggestion. Grin

SuffolkNWhat · 26/09/2015 20:37

Someone with some real acting Fred would be best. I still think Mark doodah from the first of the Reboot series, Rose episode, the one who told Rose about the doctor, funny actor would be good seeing him bounce off Capaldi

SuffolkNWhat · 26/09/2015 20:38

Mark Benton! He played Clive

LilacSpunkMonkey · 26/09/2015 20:39

I think Jon Richardson would be good. That Tardis would be sparkling clean!

ARockNRollNerd · 26/09/2015 20:42

Yes, Lilac! Grin
I would love to hear him moaning and being all sarcastic at the Doctor. He would be a bit Donna like I imagine.

RedButtonhole · 10/10/2015 08:15

I was going to suggest Midshipman Frame (Russel Tovey) from the Titanic episode, but I can't remember if he survived that episode or not.

I don't mind having another young girl, Clara disn't bother me much, nor did Amy but I think a male would change things up a bit. Someone the Doctor can bounce of off without it being construed as flirting?
