Ok, apologies upfront, I know a lot of you love it and Sportacus?????(!) but...... Sportacus (Magnus) directs, writes, produces, stars, writes the theme tune, sings the theme tune (OK maybe not) he portrays HIMSELF as a superhero (egotistical?) What's with him and Stephanie, she's supposed to be 8 yrs old, he's about 30-odd, and those trousers bring your eye line to his crotch (believe me, I try to avoid looking) and the height of the kids sometimes all you see of him is from the waist down (more crotch shots) and why oh why are some people people all be it with odd cartoon charateristics and some people puppets,it's just scary! Ok, it's good with 'sports candy' and all and the kids love it, it's only me and dh who thinks it's very odd.

Also think its very odd - and a bit creepy - and would prefer the children not to watch it!

tiredemma · 17/11/2006 22:17

I find it weird. It gives me the creeps.

Its shite.

and I agree with all of your comments, especially about his crotch.

I hated it at first, until I realised it guaranteed 20 mins of peace from DS1s relentless tantrums

JoolsToo · 17/11/2006 22:17

it's brill, he's brill

I love it!

SenoraPostrophe · 17/11/2006 22:18

he's foreign. they aren't obsessed with peadophilia abroad.

but anyway lazytown is ace. it encourages sport and healthy eating (even though the phrase "sports candy" makes me puke) and it keeps ds and dd quiet for flipping ages so there. just give it a few more episodes.

TinselgalacticWalrus · 17/11/2006 22:19

According to my geeky friend, LT has a cult following amongst geeky netheads like him

Norash · 17/11/2006 22:19

You watch a kiddy programme and all you see is crotch? Now who's wierd

Nemo1977 · 17/11/2006 22:20

I really like the concept but have often thought the relationship with stephanie is a bit odd..lol Plus agree about the outfits and robbie rottens is not the most flattering either!!

southeastastra · 17/11/2006 22:21

i used to really hate lazytown it is weird, thankfully my son has grown out of it

Norash · 17/11/2006 22:21

By the way the few times I had a chance to watch it I thought it was brilliant

TinselgalacticWalrus · 17/11/2006 22:21

It's no more odd than any other kids prog tbh.

I fing Balamory creepy, in a wickerman kind of way

tortoiseshell · 17/11/2006 22:22

I like it - hated it to start with, and I think Magnus Scheving is great, because it was his whole concept - he was world aerobics champion or something like that, and he is passionate about getting kids into healthy living - good on him I say!

trying2bgood · 17/11/2006 22:23

I like it! My kids like it! LOL I always find it funny when as adults we apply our 'adult' prepective to kiddie shows. I know so many people who find PC plum and Justin creepy!!!! I personally think they are both great too.

TinselgalacticWalrus · 17/11/2006 22:24

Agree thsat the jumpsuit is excessive though.

Much prefer Doodle Do for totty

sweetkitty · 17/11/2006 22:26

DD1 is in love with robbie rotten

agree it is very odd

WestCountryLass · 17/11/2006 22:51

DD loves it, she says she is Robbie Rotten, DS is Ziggy, DH is the Mayor and I am Stephanie (bless her).

Pixel · 17/11/2006 23:20

I've never seen it. The first I'd heard of it was when I saw an article in one of the sunday papers about it. Here are some 'useful' facts for you. Lazytown is the most expensive to make childrens' programme, the Sportacus bloke built the set himself, Special effects people in Hollywood have been so impressed they have been asking him for advice and Quentin Tarantino even visited the set, in Iceland the rates of childhood obesity dropped by 16% in one month and it has been directly attributed to Lazytown. Also sales of fruit and veg went up by about 22%.

You see, I can remember all this stuff about a programme I've never even seen but I can't remember my own name half the time .

spinasnowflake · 17/11/2006 23:26

I agree. It is creepy, but it's grown on me and DS1 loves it and it reinforces our attempts to get DS1 to understand healthy eating and he jumps around the house and it makes him happy.

EmmyLou · 18/11/2006 00:11

Pixel - isn't that the name of one of the characters?

And you claim never to have watched it - that's because you are IN it

It had me transfixed, jaw on the floor, from the moment I first saw it and thought WTF but DD3 is scared of Robbie Rotten.

handlemecarefully · 18/11/2006 00:29

He may be egotistical but he still floats my boat

MammyM · 18/11/2006 12:19

Emmylou, you're right pixel is a character, see I do watch it, I just hate it, I also hate that doodlebops, or bods or bobs or whatever it is, that is also creepy. I can't see how that statistic of 16% of kids are no longer obese in one month! but still, I do appreciate that sportacus is good for getting kids to eat better although it has had absolutley no effect on my kids whatsoever, it actually took me a while to work out what sports candy was, only half watching I suppose....
