Ok, apologies upfront, I know a lot of you love it and Sportacus?????(!) but...... Sportacus (Magnus) directs, writes, produces, stars, writes the theme tune, sings the theme tune (OK maybe not) he portrays HIMSELF as a superhero (egotistical?) What's with him and Stephanie, she's supposed to be 8 yrs old, he's about 30-odd, and those trousers bring your eye line to his crotch (believe me, I try to avoid looking) and the height of the kids sometimes all you see of him is from the waist down (more crotch shots) and why oh why are some people people all be it with odd cartoon charateristics and some people puppets,it's just scary! Ok, it's good with 'sports candy' and all and the kids love it, it's only me and dh who thinks it's very odd.

My little G LOVES any kiddie programs with real people or puppets and lots of music and singing and hates animated stuff so Lazytown is in as far as I'm concerned.
I must say, Big Cook Little Cook and Something Special are much better - G looves them and I get a chance to do a bit of washing upwhile she's watching (ok, truthfully, a bit of sitting around drinking a cuppa!)

Sheraz · 18/11/2006 13:27

Kids don' t like it, but I find Sportacus extremely sexy 0 esp the CROTCH. Ding dong!

Furball · 18/11/2006 13:42

omg Robbie Rotten?

Sheraz · 18/11/2006 13:45

OOh furbal, double ding dong! Feel all faint now!

doyouwantfrieswiththat · 18/11/2006 13:51

I like to lounge on the sofa watching lazytown - oh the irony.

can't get my head round any kids programmes to be honest but I used to love 'em when I was a kid so I guess that means I grew up, wonder when that happened.

fwiw I do like sporty men, better stamina - for all that cleaning, cooking & DIY they have to do around me

Sheraz · 18/11/2006 13:53

PSML at fries, can I move in, like your style!

iwouldloveadollypleaseSanta · 18/11/2006 14:55

dh was fascinated by lazytown he calls it blatant sports propaganda. i have to say i find the phrase 'sports candy' most amusing and will probably still be using it long after lazytown has gone...... the worst thing about this all is dd is a baby and wouldn't know the difference between lazytown and the news

MammyM · 18/11/2006 15:44

Was just reading through these and all you saddo's who love sportacus and was going to say (ashamedly) that I prefer Robbie Rotten but hello.... look at those pics.....is it the same guy? Anyway, RR has bags more personality than the afforementioned 'sporty' one.

yeah just look at the 'tache??!!

FrostytheSnowman · 18/11/2006 16:37

I hate it-I think I must have a phobia about plastic distorted faces. Wouldn't play with a doll if I didn't like the face apparently. DD1 loves it so I just leave the room if it comes on.

ShinyHappyStarOfBethlehem · 18/11/2006 16:44

Sportacus is clearly God.. he single handedly increased the fruit consumption of Iceland's under-18s by 87%.. or something.. and had a similar effect on the economy.. or something.. .. and the Icelandic Prime Minister gave Lazy Town (aka Magnus-Sportacus, sorry God Himself-us [sic]) the credit for it in a paliament speech.. or something..

Sheraz · 18/11/2006 16:51

Unfotunately in RL he is a hapily married father of 2. And a millionaire.........

ShinyHappyStarOfBethlehem · 18/11/2006 16:53

Yeah.. his wife is the Marketing Manager of their empire I believe.. and he's been married to her for 17 years.. and they have 3 kids I think..

Why do I know so much??! It's cod's fault.. something she linked to.. but still scary seeing as I can't remember how old I am most days!

Pixel · 18/11/2006 22:07

Oh so who or what is Pixel in Lazytown then? I haven't watched it honest, I got the name from my cat who in turn was named after 'the cat who walked through walls' by Robert Heinlein. So there.

doyouwantfrieswiththat · 18/11/2006 22:26

Do you read a lot of Heinlein Pixel?

morningpaper · 18/11/2006 22:34

MammyM, you are right on all counts

And Stephanie - why is she living with her uncle? And why does her uncle let her go camping with a 30 year old bloke? And is it ME or Stephanie actually quite sexy? It took several episodes before I realised she was supposed to be a child - I thought she was supposed to be another adult with something romantic going on between her and Sportacus.

EmmyLou · 18/11/2006 22:38

Pixel is a sort of techno 'dude'/boffin type puppet. Best mates with the is-she-or-isn't-she (child or woman with no breasts, that is) Stephanie with pink hair.

Not that I ever watch...

Makes Rosie and Jim feel like soothing balm.

Sheraz · 18/11/2006 22:49

I thought it was a kids show, now you are telling me it is porn?

binkacat · 19/11/2006 12:18

I read somewhere that the actress who plays Stephanie is about 30 in real life.

I really like Lazy Town.

MammyM · 19/11/2006 12:49

I can totally believe that, I still look at her and wonder how old she is, I'd say anywhere between 10 and 30?! Which was OK when I was just wondering as I could believe she wasn't a child, then I read something about lazy town which said that Stephanie was 8 which made it all just a little creepier!

OP posts:
Furball · 19/11/2006 13:34

The actress that plays stephenie is 15

earlysbird · 19/11/2006 14:12

can't stand it myself and even my DTs shout 'that's rubbish' if it comes on!

Pixel · 19/11/2006 20:41

I used to read a lot of Heinlein, Doyouwantfrieswiththat (I won't ask where you got your name!) and I think I read most of them. There are certainly a lot of them still on my bookcase! I wanted to name our new kitten Pete after the cat in 'Door into summer' but was over-ruled!

I found my son playing a Lazytown game on his computer yesterday. He'd found it all by himself, goodness knows how as he's never watched it either. I assume it's on cbeebies as he often finds game on their website.

Pixel · 19/11/2006 20:44

games that is.

FireFaerie · 19/11/2006 20:46

I hated it at first, thinking 'Sporticus' was a little obsessed with himself, but have found it to grow on me.. i think it may be Stephanie's pink hair that did it, all cartoony and sweet.. DS loves it loves it loves it! Bless him.
