Why is Paul Kaye suddenly all over my TV again.

I've been watching catch up and the last 3 programmes have all starred Paul Kaye:
Mr Norrell and Jonathan Strange - wild eyed prophet.
The Interceptor - wild eyed killer.
Suntrap - wild eyed, Spanish Freddy Mercury tribute act.

He seems to be what programme makers are looking for.

He's in Game of Thrones too.

But if current trends continue, by 2020 97 per cent of the population of the UK will have been in GoT.

I'm expecting my call up any day now.

PerspicaciaTick · 27/06/2015 12:33

I don't watch GoT Blush, but let me know when you get your call and I'll subscribe specially.

Bring back Dennis Pennis.

Cheesymonster · 27/06/2015 12:37

He is in Humans too.

SerJorahsSecondChoice · 27/06/2015 13:15

And Lillyhammer

PerspicaciaTick · 27/06/2015 13:19

Obviously some plot to takeover TV. Very sinister.

Grin DP and I were saying the very same thing last Sunday!

Sparklingbrook · 27/06/2015 14:02

OMG do not bring back Dennis Pennis.

PerspicaciaTick · 27/06/2015 14:25

Prepare to weep with vicarious embarrassment.

PerspicaciaTick · 27/06/2015 14:31

It's a compilation of "best" bits. Have to admit I couldn't watch it myself.

Me and DH had this conversation last week too after we saw him in humans and the interceptor. But as neither of us can ever remember his real name we just say 'huh, Dennis pennies'.

I didn't know he was in GoT! Who does he play?

issynoho · 27/06/2015 14:33

I don't know why he's everywhere but I'm glad he is. He's of my favourite actors. Love it when he pops up in stuff, although he is becoming a bit of a go to guy for crazies.

He's apparently good friends with Bertie Carvel, who is also in lots of stuff at the moment. They met when they were both in the original cast of Matilda.

PerspicaciaTick · 27/06/2015 14:47

He is always very entertaining to watch except Dennis.

He did a character called Mike Strutter in MTV series. That is deeply uncomfortable to watch, although pretty funny in parts.

I loved him as the boyfriend of the primary teacher in Pulling.

Gonna check some programmes listed upthread that I didn't know he'd done.

INeedSomeHelp · 27/06/2015 14:57

I loved him in Two Thousand Acres of Sky but he wasn't a wild eyed crazy in that.

gaggiagirl · 27/06/2015 14:59

I really like him. Do you remember him as romantic lead in that drama on a remote Scottish island with Michelle Collins? That was lovely Sunday night telly.

gaggiagirl · 27/06/2015 15:04

Cross post!

PerspicaciaTick · 27/06/2015 15:05

I never understood why Michelle Collins character couldn't see how fab and into her Paul Kaye's character was. I remember being very cross about that.

Oooh love Paul Kaye Smile

DH watches 'Humans' so I might have a nosey at that

And "A Child's Christmases in Wales" he was the no-good uncle (probably a bit of a wild-eyed crazy in that? )

limitedperiodonly · 27/06/2015 16:02

He's ThorosArcher26.

In real life he's physically attractive - he looks a bit like a skinnier, nerdier Ralph Fiennes.

He has a very attractive personality too - clever and quick-witted but not clever-dickish.

He also said he deeply regretted that Steve Martin encounter as Dennis Pennis.

He said he had to think of things on the spur of the moment and said something like: 'Hey Steve, you used to be funny. What happened?'

As soon as he said it, Steve Martin's face crumbled and he thought: 'Oh shit! What have I done?'

It turned out Steve Martin was going through several personal crises at the time, which made Paul Kaye feel even worse. Especially because he thought Steve Martin was head and shoulders above him and really admired him.

The Dennis Pennis treatment did work on a few people though Grin.

I'm not his agent or his pimp Grin

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 27/06/2015 16:14

I know. He always plays someone off his face either from drugs, alcohol or cause he's possessed.

dannydyerismydad · 27/06/2015 16:16

DH and I say almost daily "ooh look. It's Paul Kaye. Playing the role of a tramp".

noddyholder · 27/06/2015 16:20

He's in humans too

musicinspring1 · 27/06/2015 16:21

How did I not recognise him in GoT?!?
