TENNIS Thread! The French Open is coming- will it be #RG10 for Rafa?

Raahh · 18/05/2015 16:19

or number 1 for Djokovic?

given recent form, things look less than great for Nadal-but he likes the big stage and slams are a different beast to other tournaments.

So- new thread to talk ( mostly) about tennis- though it's not compulsory.Grin, and we all have different favourites and respect that others might not love our favourites as much as we do.

so...a week to go. May Murray be less tired, Rafa more confident , and a happy tournament be had by all.

Vamos

Safely through :) Quentin seems like a nice chap. Reminds me of Gasquet a bit.

MrsVamos · 26/05/2015 14:49

Have fun shopping, Raahh.

The thought of going to Next in half term fills me with dread. Grin

Raahh · 26/05/2015 14:49

i love how he took a racquet with him. Like a crutch.

Dh is still out, and I refuse to take them all with me.

He's probably guarding his special tech, Raahh.

No crutch needed on PC. Grin

Ooh, his tech is on the big screen.

MrsVamos · 26/05/2015 14:54

Awww, Raahh.

You wait till the time comes that they want stuff but don't want to go with you.

That makes for some agonising shopping, trust me !

We've got to the point now where if ours don't know what they want, they get money. Much easier.

Still have to traipse to the shops but any fashion mistakes are their own doing !

DramaAlpaca · 26/05/2015 14:56

Had to do some work Wink so just caught up with you lustful ladies.

So Rafa won? Good stuff.

Count me in the gang if we are ever arranging any tennis trips, please. We'd have an absolute riot Smile

MrsVamos · 26/05/2015 14:58

So far on our tennis trip.

Raahh.
Juan.
Drama.
Me.

That's a start. Smile

MrsVamos · 26/05/2015 15:00

Now all we have to do is plan when and where.......

Raahh · 26/05/2015 15:08

oh, it the Nick and Jim show.

Soporific. Grin

Dh on his way...

Well I wouldn't go for Wimbledon. I think one of the smaller tournaments where you can get closer would be a better bet. Also, Wimbledon is a pain in terms of getting tickets. Queens could be a goer - provided Rafa is playing. Also Boodles is good for getting close but you have to put up with lots of rich women drinking loads of champagne and shrieking. Not that I have anything against rich women. Or champagne. Or even shrieking for that matter.

Jelena looking lovely.

JuanPotatoTwo · 26/05/2015 15:09

I like Nieminen. I hate it when you like both players. Very stressful Grin

MrsVamos · 26/05/2015 15:13

Boris looks rough. Shock

No trouble telling whose who in these outfits hey ?!

Rafa's blue looks positively boring by comparison.

Queens wont happen for me this year. Sad

I like Nick. Jim is meh, isn't he really.

Like in Friends. You talk, but all I hear is blah blah blah. Like Andrew Castle.

Tip, Raahh. Head to an into town Next, not out of town. They close earlier. Wink

JuanPotatoTwo · 26/05/2015 15:14

I can't bear Nick. However did he get a commentator's job? Please make him go away someone.

MrsVamos · 26/05/2015 15:15

I usually end up supporting whoever is playing Novak. Blush

Like to watch him play, but.

MrsVamos · 26/05/2015 15:17

Juan.

Mute button. Can have own commentary then. But then what would we moan about if not crap commentators.

Its hard.

MrsVamos · 26/05/2015 15:19

Can I say.

People have moaned for years about Rafa's 'tics'/habits.

Why hasn't Novak sorted out some lenses that stop him bulging his eyes when he plays ? And the numerous bounces when he gets frustrated ?

Lots to ponder.

JuanPotatoTwo · 26/05/2015 15:20

I'm with you on the Jim apathy though. Boring boring boring.

MrsVamos · 26/05/2015 15:21

This could be a quick match.

JuanPotatoTwo · 26/05/2015 15:24

It is hard MrsV, what would a match be without a commentator to moan about?

I'm going to play "count the number of times Djok's gluten free diet is mentioned" game throughout the next fortnight!

MrsVamos · 26/05/2015 15:27

Ooh, that's a good one, Juan !

Didn't someone annoy him in a press conference the other day, asking if he knew where he could buy gluten free in Paris ? I heard the tale end of something but it just seemed such a daft thing to ask, making much more of it than needed. Its not like its a secret !

Sometimes, it has to be said, the commentators make some matches worth watching. Grin

JuanPotatoTwo · 26/05/2015 15:28

I want Djok to win but I don't want Nieminen to be annhilated. I also want to make a cup of tea but the advert breaks aren't long enough. Life is hard sometimes ...

MrsVamos · 26/05/2015 15:29

I know that Jim and Nick are talking, but have no idea what they are saying.

They have blended into one.

Nicks usually much better.

Perhaps its the Petchey effect.

MrsVamos · 26/05/2015 15:30
Brew

There you go. Smile

I don't want annihilation either. Jarkko is normally quite fiesty.

JuanPotatoTwo · 26/05/2015 15:31

Oh I don't know, I didn't see that. Did you see the one where the journalist began by congratulating the player (who I can't remember who it was). The player replied "Er, I lost!" Didn't go well from there on in.

I need mama here - or rather her ds. I think he and I are the only Djok fans?
