Not sure the alcohol fumes from Athos will do much for your head inigo. The soothing hands of Aramis would be better, but there's a bit of a queue, so some nurofen may be quicker

One of the eps of S3 just needs to feature Athos, leaning on something waiting for his bath to run, rolling his eyes and occasionally making that pfffftt noise as he considers Engish cuisine and everything else he disapproves of. Then when the bath is ready.....

I love that Athos is the only one trying to maintain the idea that this is all set in France. By which I mean: cheek kissing between men, complaining about the rain and the English cuisine, and the "pfffft" noise itself. (Also possibly the wife hanging...)

Although I'm not quite sure that the "you/you" misunderstanding between him and Catherine would have worked if you maintain the idea that they are speaking French. Would he be likely to call ex-fiancee "vous"? Otherwise it doesn't work. I suppose it was the olden days...

Do you mean why is it relevant that it is the olden days? Just because they were possibly more polite than now.

The misunderstanding in that episode revolves around Athos saying I will give the land to you (plural) and Catherine understanding this as you (singular). But that only works in French if he was speaking to her in a formal way, which I thought you might not if had been engaged to someone.

Possibly over-thinking things.

Although it would be her perception of what he was saying, I.e. She thought vous meant just her, that mattered. And I suppose she had delusions of grandeur anyway. Just something that had been bugging me.
