The wooden acting nomination goes to....

Third Place -' Fake Gav' on Corrie
Second Place - 'Verity' on Poldark
First Place - 'Kalinder' on The Good wife

It makes me cross that in a highly competitive industry like acting, we are still having to watch cringe performances from actors who have not yet (or may never) hone their craft.

Any other nominations? All submissions welcome...Grin

Izzy on corrie terrible facial expressions

NigellasGuest · 14/03/2015 19:21

Daenerys Targaryen

completely wooden

DonkeysYears · 14/03/2015 20:33

The new Martin on Eastenders.

Boswellox · 14/03/2015 21:07

Not really watched Eastenders for years, but when I did, in my head there were many contenders for the wooden acting trophy and I did wonder how on earth they got their start.

toldmywrath · 14/03/2015 21:12

NewPip on the Archers
Freda from the Archers
Both R4.

AesopsMables · 14/03/2015 23:24

Thanks for your votes. I think Daenerys Tagaryen is v wooden too Nigellas Never seen her before Googling.

Yes, Izzy from Corrie is a real gurner Samsam I would class her as a touch wooden but mainly given to inappropriate/OTT facial reactions which is equally as bad as being wooden.

Do not watch Eastenders so cannot comment on those and Archers is something I used to dip into but not done so for a couple of years.

I think you have to blame the producers/casting/directors for the offending acting too as they cast and film them.

With apologies to Freda Fry from The Archers-just listened to the omnibus today & she passed away this week (she was a non speaking character in The Archers, but uttered a cry a week or so ago)

Selks · 15/03/2015 15:08

NewTom from the Archers. Soo wooden.

DrankSangriaInThePark · 15/03/2015 15:09

That little blonde alcoholic nurse on Casualty who SHOUTS and OVER PRONOUNCES every word as though we are VERY STUPID.

(apologies if she's gone under a train/died at the hands of some maniac/had a terrible and very quickly fatal disease in the manner of most Casualty actors, haven't seen it since Christmas)

ssd · 15/03/2015 15:12

I thought of fake Gav straight away.

he gets my first, second and third vote.

iniac · 17/03/2015 03:50

I love Daenerys Tagaryen!Shock

There has been a fair bit of wooden acting in GOT though.
Theon and Robert Baratheon are the worst offenders, although Theon did seem to improve in series 4.

MissMarplesBloomers · 17/03/2015 05:03

Cherylee Houston who plays Izzy in Corrie has ED syndrome in real life & has to use a wheelchair on& off set. Her facial expressions or lack of are part of that, personally I think she does a bloody good job with some very emotional storylines, particularly at the moment!!

Eminybob · 17/03/2015 05:47

That police woman in charge of Lucy Beale's murder in Eastenders. And Emma while she was still alive.

GermaineHobnob · 17/03/2015 06:10

Lady Mary Crawley: Downton Abbey

Oodear · 17/03/2015 07:40

Yes the one on Casualty drank

Can I also add Awful Nurse and all teenagers in Doctors.

And Sarah Jessica Parker after the awful film I watched last week

askyfullofstars · 17/03/2015 09:55

Jada Pinkett Smith as Fish Mooney in Gotham

Eliza22 · 17/03/2015 10:22

Another one for Daenerys Targaryen. Shocking.

goodtimesinbontemps · 17/03/2015 17:55

Nate (Chris's boyfriend) in Neighbours. He has one expression for every situation.

Pixel · 17/03/2015 18:21

The bloke who plays Oliver Queen in Arrow. He is the worst. Whenever the script requires some emotion he just stares at a spot on the floor for 30 seconds.

Sudename · 17/03/2015 18:23

The majority of the cast of Fair City an Irish soap

Pagwatch · 17/03/2015 18:25

Keeley Hawes in literally everything she has ever done but with a special mention for Ashes to Ashes.

LulaMayBrown · 17/03/2015 18:28

YY to Keeley Hawes. She's really lovely to look at, but that is as far as it goes.
Have the same feeling for Keira Knightly.

Lunaballoon · 17/03/2015 18:33

One of the actors in Hollyoaks. Don't know his name or his character's, but he seems to have gone to the Roger Moore school of acting where emotion, anger, surprise or whatever is expressed by an ever so slight movement of the eyebrow.

Pixel · 17/03/2015 18:34

God yes! I was really looking forward to Ashes to Ashes after loving Life on Mars, but she completely spoilt it for me. I carried on watching for Gene but dh gave up after 2 episodes.

Pagwatch · 17/03/2015 18:36

Exactly Pixel - I couldn't wait for Ashes to Ashes and then she pouted and did the squinty focus thing when trying to convey emotion. Spoilt it utterly.
