Maybe the fruit in the gutter meant that the Beale name has been put to shame and their fruit poisoned (metaphorically) as they kill their own blood. Mouldy fruit at a fruit seller whose family have been selling fruit for 100 years.

i think they just didnt save her, jane and ian lucy overdosed and they took the body to look like murder

oh the80sweregret the scene I have in my head is denise lying on a bed on the night Lucy died. I thought she had just come back from Oxford and Lucy was found in the morning? Or am I just reinventing things in my head? I don't even think it's Denise I'm just confused now!

I wonder if Jane was laughing as they cut live for her vowels as someone made a joke about her remembering to say the right name? If you watch she makes a real effort to say Ian Albert! It might have been been JO who made a comment?!
