DDs think she's on something, I think she's finally cracked.

Yeah I was shocked at her last night, even the lack of makeup and hair do gives me the impression that she isn't well.
Couldn't find anything on twitter about it though. Have to wait till next week.

Stratter5 · 17/02/2015 21:32

My first thought was that she had been drinking.

AmeliaPeabody · 17/02/2015 21:41

Yes, we did wonder similarly.
I don't get the impression she's coping very well at the moment. She looks close to tears most of the time, too. It feels wrong that they filmed her like that.

spudmasher · 17/02/2015 21:49

She had all the legal stuff going on I think.

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 17/02/2015 21:53

I think it's the legal stuff too. She was awful though. It was really uncomfortable to watch.

She looks like she's lost loads of weight too.

AmeliaPeabody · 17/02/2015 21:54

Seems to be, yes.

The lawsuit from Paige was quite shocking!

Stratter5 · 17/02/2015 22:20

Tbh the lawsuits didn't surprise me that much, the way she behaves is incredibly abusive. She reminds me an awful lot of my old livery yard owner, she was incapable of accepting any kind of responsibility if anything happened, and always had to be right, even if she was incredibly wrong. My XH met her and her husband, who was a v v similar personality, and told me to get out. Wish I'd listened to him.

I don't often say this, but I think she has a pretty major personality disorder, the world she's created in her head is crumbling, she's realising she's not the big shot she thinks she is, and she can't deal with it.

Some of her actions are coming across as quite irrational at the moment.

I can't understand why Holly keeps Nia at the studio. It really can't be good for her self esteem no matter how much her mother reaffirms it.

Anonimousy · 18/02/2015 10:18

I've watched Dance Moms since it started - I used to do a lot of dancing in my childhood years and teens. I have to say that a lot of dance teachers are quite irrational people and abusive - they just do not seem to be very balanced people generally.

The mums and daughters in Dance Moms are contracted to Lifetime as far as I know so it's not easy for them to leave.

AmeliaPeabody · 18/02/2015 10:41

Not so easy, but two of the mothers have managed it so far.

Really Shock

I must say, I've never met a dance teacher quite like Abby or somebody who was abusive, and I've met some very keen and strict teachers over the years, and, of course, during my own childhood.

tanyfelin · 18/02/2015 20:42

Abby needs to have a baby, a child, then hopefully she will become humane. What a terror!

Oakmaiden · 18/02/2015 20:56

Can I ask - I have seen some episodes of this on Youtube, but not many. How do you watch it? Is it on a UK channel anywhere?

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 18/02/2015 21:00

It's on Lifetime in the UK.

Oakmaiden · 18/02/2015 21:33

Thank you.

Is it possible to watch episodes online? I can't work it all out...

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 18/02/2015 22:06

I googled it the other day and there's a free Lifetime app apparently. If you have that you can watch it online. I haven't tried it though.

CameliousHumph · 19/02/2015 12:01

Just catching up. Looks like she's pissed.

How much of it is real? How much scripted or set up?

Behindthepaintedgarden · 19/02/2015 13:30

I think most of it is scripted at this stage. I enjoyed the first few series of this programme but it gradually became more bizaare and OTT and it was obviously not good for the children involved, particularly Chloe. Also, it seemed to attract weirder and weirder Moms as the show went on.

tanyfelin what a silly comment.

Anonimousy · 19/02/2015 15:01

I think maybe I was unlucky - and to be honest, this was the 80s so some time ago. But I remember humiliation was part and parcel of teaching. And we were screamed at for things that were completely beyond our control.

Stratter5 · 19/02/2015 15:26

Christ, the last thing Abby needs is a child, poor little fucker Shock

Dance moms:

Season 1 is on daily motion
Season 2 can be bought on Amazon instant video :)
Season 3 iTunes

Haven't seen past season 3 yet. I love dance moms! What's happening with Abby?

Anonimousy · 24/02/2015 08:59

It seems as though Holly is now reaching breaking point - it seems to happen to them all eventually.

Stratter5 · 24/02/2015 18:29

Last night's was horrific, even worse than last week. She has absolutely lost the plot.

OP posts:
KatieKaye · 24/02/2015 18:35

Abby was always out of control and with a highly inflated opinion of herself - but this season she is veering wildly between unhinged and unkempt. it is disturbing to watch and makes me wonder if she is having some sort of breakdown. I hate what she says to the girls, but I actually feel sorry for her
equally shocking was seeing Dr Holly in tears.

Stratter5 · 24/02/2015 18:44

She's psycho, she should not be teaching children imo.

OP posts:
AmeliaPeabody · 24/02/2015 19:09

Haven't seen this weeks episode yet. But...
Her behaviour has become increasingly irrational. Even when they're defending her she throws it back at them. When the mums said they were glad she was back and back to her old self (and tidied with her hair brushed) she said something along the lines of 'but maybe I was doing something more interesting."

She lost membership of some dance teachers association due to her behaviour, I think (she mentions this in her book). Though her other dance teacher(s) at the studio have it still.
