anyone watch this?

this couple spend £150 to entertain a few friends for dinner!!!

are they really a representation of typical families?

mydogisthebest · 26/05/2019 13:44

I could not understand how they could spend £365 a week on food or how they could afford to.

They never know how much they spend. I may not know to the last penny but I have a very good idea and it's nowhere near that ridiculous amount. I don't even spend that a month. It's about 3 months worth of shopping for me and DH

Another family needlessly throwing away food too. It makes me so angry

Sockworkshop · 26/05/2019 15:48

Absolutely baffling how they didnt know.
Unless they just chucked it on a CC and never checked.
I spend £400 per month

Whiskyagogo · 26/05/2019 16:09

Yes bonkers! But I loved how they were so open and willing to take on new ideas, they seemed like a lovely family.

RebootYourEngine · 26/05/2019 18:13

Where do they find these people?

How do you not know roughly how much you spend on food

Sockworkshop · 26/05/2019 18:54

I want them to dig into the psychology of it a bit more.
One of them earned £18/19K which was their yearly food bill and seemed quite chilled and the other kept crying.
I think she worked long hours ( I missed the beginning) and they just chucked stuff away.

mydogisthebest · 27/05/2019 07:38

If their food bill was the same as one of their wages I really don't see how they manage. Obviously they have to pay rent or mortgage, council tax, electric etc. They surely would have struggled and had to look at ways to cut back?

I can understand how someone who earns say £80,000 or more can not keep a check on what they spend on food but not someone who earns a lower wage.

Also what on earth do they buy to spend such ridiculous amounts? Unless they are buying lobster, champagne etc every week (which I every much doubt they are) I just can't see how you can spend that much,

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/05/2019 08:36

I couldn’t work out why spent so much. Maybe brands

But that was an obscene amount to spend and if struggling why not cut back

As usual always one swap they get wrong. Tea was this weeks

The pea crisps are rank.

And have to say the veggie curry looked horrible

Tho the savoury egg muffins and pasta dish ok

Sockworkshop · 27/05/2019 09:50

I think it was individual ready meals. Everything was in a packet Blondes
They all ate different things and worked shifts.
I rewatched the beginning Grin

JeezYouLoon · 27/05/2019 10:22

I love this programme but it's amazing how people have no idea how much they're spending. But I guess with top up shops and takeaways it all adds up.

I think this week's family were stuck in a rut, I'd like them to revisit the families after a year.

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/05/2019 14:50

Tonight’s is one child is a fussy eater. Another dairy intolerant so mum cooks 4 different Meals

Can’t believe people do that. Two diff if allergy. But 4 ?

Winterfellismyhome · 30/05/2019 19:16

"They have no idea they're being spied on"

Theres a camera crew following them around...

Itstheprinciple · 30/05/2019 21:36

I know, I don't understand that bit. Presumably they applied to be on the show, then a camera appears in the supermarket! Erm... And I'm sure they're told to just go mad and not hold back on that shopping trip.

jay55 · 31/05/2019 07:17

I think the recent episodes have been great with kids not liking some of the meals. In the past there have been huge switches and the kids totally compliant and on board with almost everything.

Gregggg I don't see any meals here, what are they eating.
Gregg you've a trolley full of pizzas, safe to say they are eating pizza.

Blondeshavemorefun · 31/05/2019 14:57

Started watching last night but life took over lol

So back now

Beginning of programme. One won’t eat chicken. One dairy untol. One fussy

Why not give all fish fingers chip and veg

Tho not hard to cook nuggets and fish fingers in oven and pizza - 3 things in oven cookin at same time

Takeaway pizza - all ate. So another night pizza night with veg /cucumber /pepper

9mins in. Will see what meals they all can eat /what recipes mum gets given

Blondeshavemorefun · 31/05/2019 15:00

And obv no money worries. Or so it seems as tops up at coop every week

How do they pay for it? Credit card ? As surely if usual bank card or cash she would know what she spends

I bulk if shopping is over £60. Prefer £50 ish for 2 adults and toddler so nappies and wipes each week is £4

newcat12345 · 01/06/2019 21:41

Just me or was that female chef proper flirting with Chris?!

Carriemac · 13/06/2019 17:44

How did that family not realizes they were spending£400 a week on food?

blackcat2345 · 13/06/2019 19:13

Was crazy

RebootYourEngine · 14/06/2019 08:09

This weeks was ridiculous. Where do they get the money to waste £400 a week on food and not know they are doing it?

Clutterbugsmum · 14/06/2019 12:02

Last night's program would have been better if they had bought how much money they wasted with the food they threw away along side how much they saved by not going out/takeaway buying better.
