I never used different trainers in the gym when I used to go. There again - I'm attempting to run a marathon injured so probs best not to listen to me.

If I'm not running or doing anything silly like a rowing ergometer, my trainer makes me work out in bare feet, including doing dead lifts. It makes you concentrate a whole lot more on your core if you're more aware of what your feet are up to.

I can't imagine you'd want to do this in the gym though, so I would have thought and pair of trainers would be ok, as long as they fit and are comfy.

Elk Following our conversation last night what core strength exercises would you recommend that might help with the back/leg issues? Any suggestions would be most helpful bearing in mind my movement is still a little restricted.

Didnt watch all the apple podcast, just sparkles bit, which was excellent cos santi is in it. I think the rest was probably 90% brain farts from howie, luca and presenter so cba. It did keep freezing too even though I watched it on an ipad. fancy did you manage to watch it in the end?!

I think it sounded less fun than live cos the audience wasnt mic'd up, so you couldnt hear our reaction very well.

elk if you get round to a bit of physio type advice, Id love a few exercises for a fucked neck, back, shoulders, arms... (general office desk badness). Im getting close to "time off work" point I think. My fingers were going numb yesterday. I have had all the workstation, chair etc assessments, I really try to sit properly and all that, but I think its just years of cumulative damage.

elk you have it spot on and that's when the comtess's bionic nike come in and other similar shoes. They're supposed to give you that almost barefoot feeling or at least more barefoot than running trainers. If I only did weights I could wear converse, Chuck Taylor, they are what the weight lifter wear. just your bog standard All Stars. But then I do the plyos and circuts so need something more bendy. so I either buy on emore expensive pair or two cheaper ones.

Just finished watching the podcast. I enjoyed it and I quite liked the female presenter. I'm wondering if they got the questions the presenter was going to ask in advance? Maybe Howie prepares what he is going to say and that's why it sounds a bit wanky at times. He was much better with the fan questions.

Loved Maime. Total girl crush. The "Milady ends up at the end of S2 in such a different place to the start of S1" made me a bit . I'm all for her and Athos having a bit of interplay but they can't sell out with a happy ending. No no no Adrian. Don't dooooo it.

Bloody hell it's snowy - apparently....I haven't actually looked out the window today. But MlleElk's school is closed, as are every route across the Pennines so MrE can't go to work....the two are entertaining each other and I'm staying in bed catching up on some long lost zzzzzzzzzzzzzs, plus BabyElk went for four hours straight without waking up last night.....I wouldn't say I feel like a new woman yet, but today I can contemplate the thought that it might happen, one day

Drink that does complicate things.....wouldn't a decent pair of well fitting, well cushioned ones do the trick. I know some people swear by those 5 finger ones, but you have to build up to their use slowly, i.e. lots of calf, peroneii and foot intrinsic strengthening, and for plyo stuff you would also need a really good core and both upper and lower limb power for all the explosive strength.....which I'm sure you have. Have you got a tailored programme?

Madame, that's a worry, I don't like it when people's body parts start going numb. I would be asking for a re-assessment of your workstation, who did it in the first place? do they know what they're talking about? But also have you seen a doctor or physio for a proper examination?
