An half a second shot of the neck that seems to have captivated so many fantasies on ff...
ivanabobic.com/IN-THE-NIGHT
(Need to find this short movie! Brzo Brzo!)

Beingfrank · 19/01/2015 09:29

I didnt know that Orphan - one of mine is Benjamin Charles!

Rhubarb - just checking back in to say I am savouring your story (that's code for not getting through it as quickly as I would like) but I am in total awe of the detail and research you must have done. Or did you know this stuff already?

Other ff authors amongst us - please don't think I am ignoring your work, but I'm just trying to get through systematically so I don't muddle the stories!

Onlygirljen · 19/01/2015 09:45

cherin I've been trying to find it too, with no success.

Made a prize tit of myself on the school run this morning - took a fall on the ice on the way back home, with an extended audience. Could have done with CJ to scoop me up with his fur coat and take me home for some feather dustering. Will just have to make do with a coffee and industrial strength painkiller instead Confused

Onlygirljen · 19/01/2015 09:46

Ps elsie that cv did a good job of dulling the pain for a minute, good work!!

Richtea19 · 19/01/2015 10:01

Cherin, oh boy what a neck that is! Phew, gotta get that movie. The girl is gorgeous looking too. Do we know if it was a TV movie?

Rhubarb01 · 19/01/2015 10:01

Morning.

Beingfrank no worries. I wouldn't expect anyone to read that much in a hurry and I am behind on the FF reading as well!

In answer to your question I've always been very interested in the period and knew a lot of general stuff from other things I've read and seen over the years but once you start trying to do anything in detail you end up looking for lots of bits of information in books and on the internet. The internet is absolutely brilliant for all kinds of first hand accounts and obscure bits of information. (eg I had no idea that the Royal Opera House had been a Mecca dance hall during WW2 until I found it mentioned on a web site and then cross checked it a few times to make sure it was true and thought wow how brilliant would that have been for a night out?) Can you imagine anyone turning it into a night club today? I was also able to find some original colour film from 1944 on you tube of Picadilly Circus with all the traffic and people in uniform passing by and it was fascinating to look at. I suppose that was actually all part of the fun. Mind you, I probably have found out more about the workings of a Lancaster bomber than I ever thought I would and I'm sure aeroplane buffs out there wouldn't be terribly impressed as I'm not highly technical in that respect so had to the best I could given my limitations.

Elsie loved the CV I'm sure BA would appreciate a copy particularly as he has acquired skills he didn't know he possessed! Would love his agent to get a copy too.

cjwoofwoof · 19/01/2015 10:19

Morning! Day off today so currently got Ep 2 paddling pool on freeze frame TV. Not a bad way to catch up on here and eat toast...lovely!

cjwoofwoof · 19/01/2015 10:29

Cherin loving the neck clip - those little curls round the nape are begging to be twizzled - but blink and it's over worst luck!

Jen I'm always falling over when out with my dog (dodgy ankle) and it bleedin hurts doesn't it, esp when you have to pretend to onlookers you're absolutely fine and try and hobble on feeling like a complete bellend. I could do with a foot massage from CJs fur too. Do you think the cape comes in big handed glove form too?

icemistOBE · 19/01/2015 10:41

I searched and searched for that short film online and couldn't find it. It's how I found those short comedies with the Aran cardigan!

pixieg1rl · 19/01/2015 10:48

My other half has hair just like BA's, a fact he likes to keep on pointing out every time I watch OG. At the right length it does that curls at the nape of the neck thing. Shame I cut it all off on Saturday. Maybe I can persuade him to put it into a side parting and wear some combats. If he stood on a box and I took my specs off I might not be able to tell the difference....

cherin · 19/01/2015 10:52

i don't mind an aran cardigan, honesty, 10 times better than en emu cape (albeit possibly not equally useful for house chores...)
maybe i can write to the director? she seems to be young and keen to promote herself, we can lure her here in the land of middle age womanhood and scare the shit out of her or maybe we'd find out she's actually outin and we have already scared her off...

Jen careful with falls, i'd say to put some ice on it but it seems you may have already done that ;-) R&R well deserved for you, today!!

cjwoofwoof · 19/01/2015 11:09

pixie same here - if my DH wasn't bald, was 6" taller, 20 years younger, spoke posh and lost 2 stone he'd be the image of CJ. Guess I'll just have to shut my eyes and imagine, like I've been doing for last three months Wink

cherin · 19/01/2015 11:18

women imagination is our most powerful weapon, i reckon!!
(btw my DH is same height, WAS similar built, curly hair, greenish eyes, all in all a more than decent match to CJ...but RL is a bit of a bitch, and there is a reason why fiction is called fiction, right...?)

cjwoofwoof · 19/01/2015 11:41

Guess so cherin but in my head my imaginings are VERY REAL INDEED!!

icemistOBE · 19/01/2015 11:47

When DH lets his hair grow it goes curly a la CJ too, but he's slimmer than CJ in the face and lovely blue eyes rather than brown... Ech I can pretend....

OP posts:
pixieg1rl · 19/01/2015 11:57

OH can do posh, being an ex public school boy. Next time he complains about our sex life I'll hand him a script of episode 1 with all the Cpt stern face shouty bits highlighted and tell him to put some bloody effort in...

icemistOBE · 19/01/2015 12:14

Housework done so rewarding myself with watching episode 2, 18mo fast asleep so even better

FWK351 · 19/01/2015 12:32

Watched Ep 2 last night, after DVD arrived this weekend. Let DD watch too although she's probably a bit young! Ep2 is definitely my favourite.

icemistOBE · 19/01/2015 12:46

Ep 2 had so much going on, but unlike ep 5 doesn't seem rushed. Many of my fave CJ moments are in EP 2

DH heard my phone shout Private Dawes earlier- cue questions about why it was.... God knows how I'll explain my autograph should it ever turn up

OP posts:
FWK351 · 19/01/2015 12:53

Caught my DH reading this thread on my iPad at the weekend! Quickly put a stop to that and must make sure I don't leave it open anymore!
Agree - Ep 2 is all about the anticipation which is alway, in my opinion, far more exciting than when something actually happens.

icemistOBE · 19/01/2015 13:14

Not that we saw anything happen in ep 5! We were robbed of a wonderful scene...

OP posts:
icemistOBE · 19/01/2015 13:19

On to ep 3,
Coco-pops- they have a promo at the moment to get a personalised spoon. Could be dipping CJ into my cocopops whenever I wanted then....

OP posts:
Richtea19 · 19/01/2015 13:30

I will look out for the coco-pops promo box, as I like the idea of the personalised spoon, I di buy coco-pops but normally buy own brand one.

DH, is not like CJ at all! He is tall (6,1) and green eyes, but poor love is thinning on top, good job he is tall and I'm little as I dont see his little baldy spot well unless he crouches!

No time to watch any episodes today as bit of running around to do and desparatley need to tidy up the house. I might get some time to do some idle googling with a cuppa later though!

orphan · 19/01/2015 14:05

Dp is a lot taller than me (but not difficult), full head of hair but dead straight not curly and greying rapidly at the sides, grey eyes and still a 30 inch waist (runner/cyclist physique). I don't think he's got a posh voice, but others have said so. He's never worn combats, but would probably look quite good in them. Doesn't have CJ's lovely big nose though...

cjwoofwoof · 19/01/2015 14:14

Just remembered my DH used to wear green ex-army combats years ago for work, complete with side pockets etc, as the strong material withstood building site battles/grime. Glad he doesn't wear them now, it would be soooo wrong Grin
