Happy New Year tennis folks (and others of course, if there are any) :)

Getting very very excited to see Pot back in action, feel like a hyperactive child rather than a middle aged woman. He didn't make it to Brisbane so wasn't counting on Sydney but he's there. Look:

Poor Heather. Sad

Juan

You're not bossy, dahling, all peace & love from me. Smile

See you all intermittently, busy days ahead !

Mwah mwah mwah

Mama1980 · 20/01/2015 08:49

Poor Watson she must be so disappointed.
Congrats to li na she looks very happy, always thought her and her husband seem very happy together. They always seem to be laughing. Smile
Hewitt on now and a set up, was never his biggest fan but I do love the way he just tears around after everything, roaring and fist pumping. Can't fault him for enthusiasm.

DramaAlpaca · 20/01/2015 09:28

Ooh, I hadn't heard Li Na is pregnant, congrats to her & her husband.

Sorry to hear Del Potro has pulled out, leaving a few broken hearts on the thread, methinks Wink It was good seeing him back last week & winning a couple of matches, really hope this is not a career ending injury.

I'm not getting to see much any live tennis (stupid work) so am relying on you lovely ladies for all the gossip.

Heather's out? Oh, no! What a comedown after winning a title last week.

magimedi · 20/01/2015 10:19

Sorry for Heather but reading this article about her illness :

www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/tennis/30892207

made me slightly puzzled. She says it's "a girl thing" (actually, you are a woman, Heather) so obv period problems and you would think she could use the pill to sort this out so it doesn't interfere with slams?

Mrs V - am the same as you re getting Sky. And as DH & I are retired we really don't want to get into the rut of watching day time TV.

Raahh · 20/01/2015 11:39

I thought Heather had had glandular fever? Or is this something else? It's a shame she couldn't keep up the momentum, it would have been a good start to her year to get some more games under her belt.

magimedi · 20/01/2015 12:05

Apparently this is nothing to do with the glandular fever.

Trenzalore · 20/01/2015 16:47

Watson said her ambition is to be number one in the world.

See serena (the most inappropriate name for her!!!) won her match! grrrr.

Well donr Monfils, that was a good match.

Thankfully I have Eurosport so can get the matches, but unless a Brits in a weekend match they dont show tennis on the terrestrial channels. dont know why ITV cant show Open as they have the rights for the French.

Tennis.

Raahh · 20/01/2015 20:25

I have checked the schedule- and I am happy, as Rafa's match is one that starts 'not before 7pm' which is around 6am here- so I might stand a chance of watching tomorrow at a reasonable time. Will drop the dds at breakfast club, (they go every day, I'm not sending them just because of the tennis Grin)and will hopefully see quite a bit of his shorts of the match.

Grin Tennis
MrsVamos · 20/01/2015 20:37

Raahh Grin

I'll watch with you in spirit. Wonder if 5live or anyone is commentating ?

Heard today Murray is the only Brit left in. There go our hopes then. Wink

Raahh · 20/01/2015 20:39
Grin
MrsVamos · 20/01/2015 20:41

magi

Rut of daytime tv ? Nooooo. Not me. Grin

There's not actually anything to watch, if you try ! Judge Rinder can be amusing, but I'm not usually in.

Its just everything screams at me "NOOOOOOOO" with regards to Sky. Its a shame you can't just select a few sports channels and nothing else.

Let me have me tennis and DH his motor sports, we don't want anything else really.

And it really grates that you have to pay to watch tv. America get all those & more free, don't they ? So why can't we ?

amigababy · 20/01/2015 20:45

I'm sure Radio 5 live extra will have Rafa 's match, I'll be able to listen if I'm stuck at home with a digital radio.

MrsVamos · 20/01/2015 20:49

Thanks for that, amiga Smile

I'll be up any way, Vamosbitch likes her early morning cold frosty walks.

MrsVamos · 20/01/2015 20:50

Note :

Not cold SNOWY walks.

And really, it was only properly frosty this morning.

Pah.

OneInAMillionYou · 21/01/2015 00:34

Delpo has already had another wrist surgery today. Pics on twitter of him sitting up post operation with smiling doctor at his side.
Hope it works for him this time.

Raahh · 21/01/2015 06:29

Well- Federer has dropped a set, which is very good of him, as the longer this match lasts, the more chance I have of seeing Rafa Grin Vamos!

Raahh · 21/01/2015 06:39

Mind you, DD2 woke me up last night twice- she's got a bad cough and it kept waking her up- so I might fall asleep watching. GrinShock

and I have a sore throat.

Anyway, some nice shots of Stefan to keep me awake whilst I nag ds to get himself sorted. No sense of urgency, my son.

Raahh · 21/01/2015 08:12

Whoop! Perfect timing.

Mama1980 · 21/01/2015 08:20

Morning all
He's wearing the pretty pink again Wink
Need Rafa to win quick today have to go out in a bit and it's snowing...
Murray and fed through overnight and berdych.

amigababy · 21/01/2015 08:27

I'll get the first hour on the radio while it snows, then I've got to go and brave the elements.

Dear lord, they are talking about mopping up Rafa 's sweat from the court! Pass the smelling salts....... Smile

Raahh · 21/01/2015 08:31

I'm watching Eurosport- why oh why do I have to listen to Virginia Wade?? She bores me silly. And regularly talks rubbish.

Raahh · 21/01/2015 08:32

They must have heard me- I now have Mats Wilander Grin

Raahh · 21/01/2015 08:37

Fucking hell.
Angry
I've just had ds's school on the phone, and apparently someone has thrown a hot drink on him and he has burns on his neck.

There has been nothing but trouble since he started secondary school Sad.

Off to pick him up.

magimedi · 21/01/2015 08:43

Raah That's awful. Hope school are dealing with this 7 taking it really seriously & most of all that DS is OK.

MrsVamos · 21/01/2015 08:43

Morning.

Bloody hell, Raahh.

Hope DS is alright.

Keeping an eye on matches looks like most will go safely through.
