I've just been watching the most recent episode and as someone who's watched the show from the beginning, I was so happy with the events of tonight!
Did anyone else see it? Do you think they will follow through with the wedding? And if they do, surely this will be the last series??

OP posts:

I was watching that too roger, then DH came running in from the kitchen saying 'OMG Lee just kissed Lucy in NGO' Hmm

silverfingersandtoes · 20/12/2014 10:37

Always loved this and love Lee Mack. But have to say it has gone downhill since Tim Vine left. Yes, Hugh Dennis lifted it but it has run its course. Better to give it a slushy happy ending now which we can all just have a good sniff over at Christmas.

SeaUnicorns · 20/12/2014 10:38

i wonder if Tim vine especially, and Miranda will come back for the wedding.
Tim should cos his character is Lucy's brother, it would feel odd him not being there.

I didn't know about the Christmas episode, but it was very much finishing the story cos there's always been that he really wants her, she likes him will they ever. They could only get it together if it was the end, cos it would spoil it otherwise!

FruVikingessOla · 20/12/2014 10:38

This from Wiki : A lot of the humour is based on word play and double entendres delivered in a deadpan manner."

So perhaps the title is meant to have two meanings?

Yes, Miranda as the cleaner was great - but I think my favourite character is Daisy!

R4roger · 20/12/2014 10:39

i miss tim vine, and daisy

Sparklingbrook · 20/12/2014 10:39

Not liking Hugh Dennis's wife IYKWIM. Terrible character.

PuppyMonkey · 20/12/2014 10:42

I heard Lee Mack in an interview saying it's called Not Going Out because the two leads are not going out together. Case closed.

The title song is just a play on words.

Sparklingbrook · 20/12/2014 10:43

I knew it! Grin

FruVikingessOla · 20/12/2014 10:43

Daisy is still in it, R4. She just hangs out with Lee and Lucy while Tim is working in Germany.

FruVikingessOla · 20/12/2014 10:47

Thank you Puppy! But that's exactly what I first thought you meant, Sparkling Xmas Confused, whilst I had applied the other meaning!

BiscuitsAreMyDownfall · 20/12/2014 10:53

Trying not to read the thread as we have a couple of episodes to watch so dont want to spoil it too much.

Lee Mack was on something a couple of weeks ago and said that it all comes together this year. He didn't say how though. So I think it is the final series.

Love Daisy, but would like to see Tim come back in for the final episode, after all he is Lucy's brother. Are Tim and Daisy still together then?

southeastastra · 20/12/2014 11:07

thought it was a bit daft and proved men can't just be friends with women, hmm. it outstayed it's welcome a bit though imo, last series was wincey in parts.

HalleLouja · 20/12/2014 11:18

We love this in our house. Lee Mack is very funny. Loving Hugh too.

Rivercam · 20/12/2014 17:41

Loved last night's episode - quite tender in parts. Hugh Dennis was brilliant. I thought this series was better than the last couple of series. I'd love Tim Vine to come back for it. I'd forgotten Miranda was in it.

nickeljrismybabesitter · 20/12/2014 21:20

It was ace!
I bloody knew there was no Carl!

I have been waiting for that for years.
I don't think it'll ruin it, it'll be a lovely culmination and perfect.
I would not be happy if they didn't marry (like I was very annoyed they killed matthew in downton abbey)

Sparklingbrook · 20/12/2014 21:21

Grin nickel are you all happy?

TheHorseHasBolted · 20/12/2014 21:36

I usually watch this and missed it last night (work party) so I'm glad someone has updated me. (I mean it, I probably wouldn't have got around to seeing it later.) The ending sounds quite sweet. I was rather hoping Toby would split up with whatsername though, and it doesn't sound as if he did!

nickeljrismybabesitter · 20/12/2014 21:37

I am all happy yes Grin

Thought the ending was very fast - was surprised at the speed and also at the actual proposal!

turningvioletviolet · 23/12/2014 06:59

I love this programme. The Pointless episode a couple of weeks ago had me in tears of laughter. I will miss it when it's over although i do think it's probably time for it to end.

OodKingWenceslas · 23/12/2014 08:01

I think it's time to end it , nice to round it off friends should have ended on a similar note and Miranda shouldn't be coming back on for another episode

TheReturnoftheSmartArse · 23/12/2014 14:07

Damn, I missed it. Was it the one on the plane? I'll have to try to download it.

I have to say that I haven't found it quite so funny without Tim Vine ...

octopal · 23/12/2014 14:13

I haven't seen many episodes but the one in the woods with the strange masked people around was one of the funniest things I ever watched on TV.

BiscuitsAreMyDownfall · 23/12/2014 15:38

Ive seen the one on the plane and have another one plussed so that wasn't the latest, but the one before that one.

Sparklingbrook · 24/12/2014 20:43

On tonight at 9.30pm BBC1! 'Epic finale'.

youarekiddingme · 24/12/2014 21:06

It's going to attempt to get DS in bed and asleep, put the kettle on, grab cake and watch Xmas Grin
