...before the previous thread here rolls off a cliff.

Someone wanted a character list. I have, with a bit of help from Wiki, come up with:
The Mighty Carrie
Quinn aka Woopert. Most of us definitely would, despite the resemblance to a ferret.
Lockhart - once hated, now we have some grudging respect.
Saul - all that is right and good in the world, with a passing resemblance to Life of Brian man who hasn't spoken in years.
Dar Adul aka Salieri - what's happened to him?
Fara - once an IT fraud geek, now an intrepid hands-on agent who doesn't keep enough of an eye on her bin bags.
Martha, the nice ambassador
Denis, her nefarious husband
John, second in command at CIA Lahore HQ, we're warming to him
Aayan aka Pi, now sailing the heavenly oceans with a tiger
Sandy, former CIA chief, now pushing up the daisies
Aasar Khan, aka Raza, aka Hot Spooks Guy
Bunran Latif, the General, aka Art Malik
Haqqani, the craggy Taliban leader who prefers to shag next to a bearded man chained to a radiator
Tasleen, aka one of the Kardashians.

Have I missed anyone?

Its Dar's job to know everything. Surely?

deadwitchproject · 23/12/2014 09:59

Yes you're right about Zaf's tone, it was reassuring. Hmm. Perhaps he is a double agent and Tasneem is so evil she's a triple agent. I just think there must be something more to her.

I thought Max was great in this episode, very sensitive about Carrie's dad. I had a massive lump in my throat when Carrie saw Franny on screen (although her brodyness still unnerves me) it was so lovely to see Carrie's reaction to her.

Fiderer · 23/12/2014 16:35

Could be, though, that Dar wasn't in Haqqani's car as a double deep agent or as a highly valued asset, but a highly valued prisoner. Maybe the plan he was involved in went wrong.

oneowlgirl · 23/12/2014 17:17

Never thought about him being a prisoner - good twist as whilst I agree that it's the CIAs job to know where people are, often they don't & I'd be surprised how Dar would know easily where such a high ranking terrorist would be if he weren't also a baddie!

Roonerspism · 23/12/2014 19:48

I had a tear watching carrie's reaction too - she really is a fab actress.

diddl · 23/12/2014 20:08

What ep are you all up to?

I've just watched 12.

OttiliaVonBCup · 23/12/2014 20:14

The one with Dar Adal at the end.

diddl · 23/12/2014 20:18

Ah OK.
I'm one ahead.

flashystars · 23/12/2014 20:33

Looking forward to the last episode.

diddl · 23/12/2014 20:42

I've quite enjoyed this series tbh.

Great to have got rid of the (imo) tedious carrie/Brody crap.

Hassled · 24/12/2014 07:36

I don't know if Zaf's tone was reassuring. It might have been - it could also have been a warning - you shoot Haqqani, look who will come after you. But then I can't believe Salieri has turned.

Agree that the scene with Franny was moving. Carrie has changed, hasn't she - she wouldn't have had the same readiness to call it quits and leave Pakistan earlier in the season or last season, I don't think.

Bumping for the Sunday crowd. Xmas Smile

GypsyFloss · 28/12/2014 07:30

Just caught up. Loving the angry Quinn. Baby Franny is so a mini Brody. Poor child.

Quite confused as to what Dar is up to but then I've been fairly confused about him and his role all the way through.

I do think this is a very well written series. The only thing that irks me is the ease with which Carrie and Quinn sail around the streets and no one seems to blink an eye at their obvious westernness!

ihatethecold · 28/12/2014 07:40

I think a lot if it is quite far fetched. But that's American entertainment for you!
Still love it though and don't want the series to end Xmas Sad

TheSpottedZebra · 28/12/2014 11:33

Oh gosh, I will be in mourning for Homeland after today.
What will I do? I love it so much.

It is literally the only programme that I look forward to and will not miss. I'll need a new thing to get into after this, suggestions welcome. NB I don't like too much violence, and I hate overly dark things - in the literal sense - as I struggle to see what's going on.

Roonerspism · 28/12/2014 11:41

Me too zebra. I felt like that after the last series ended and searched for something similar, with no success. I rarely watch telly so I went back to not watching much again.

Roll on next series!

WhyYouGottaBeSoRude · 28/12/2014 11:51

Its Dar's job to know everything. Surely?

In the words of john, he's a spy, he knows shit Grin

Fiderer · 28/12/2014 12:13

I hope they explain the whole set up/plan.

I've been wondering if the drone strikes on the targets given to Sandy Bachmann actually did kill the terrorists they were supposed to, or if they were all faked like Haqqani's. Maybe they were collateral damage to get to the heart of the plan, the list of US assets. Haqqani sacrificed a lot of his relatives, that surprised me.

This series has been much better than I feared. And it's given us 2 good quotes, WTFF and "I'm a spy, I know shit". Grin

MsRyanGosling · 28/12/2014 13:47

It's on for an extra 10 minutes tonight Xmas Smile

Blu · 28/12/2014 14:23

Zebra: Broadchurch is starting again, will that help?

Zaf knew that Dar was in the car, he hadn't just spotted him, don't think.

waitingforgodot · 28/12/2014 15:16

ooh I am so excited but will miss Homeland. Same as you SpottedZebra, need an alternative.

Hassled · 28/12/2014 16:49

Broadchurch is one of those shows I managed to miss completely, and it's one of many on my "must get round to watching that" list. I also have untouched boxsets of Broadwalk Empire and The Newsroom which I need to actually open - aside from Homeland, my default these days seems to be mindless shite.

OP posts:
waitingforgodot · 28/12/2014 17:32

I missed Broadchurch too

TheSpottedZebra · 28/12/2014 17:38

Broadchurch, hey? Yup, I also missed it? Maybe I should watch it?! Series 1 before series 2 starts?
I know who dunnit, but I guess that won't impact my enjoyment at all.

TheSpottedZebra · 28/12/2014 17:39

Shit. I don't know why there were so many question marks in that there post?

Hmm?
