...before the previous thread here rolls off a cliff.

Someone wanted a character list. I have, with a bit of help from Wiki, come up with:
The Mighty Carrie
Quinn aka Woopert. Most of us definitely would, despite the resemblance to a ferret.
Lockhart - once hated, now we have some grudging respect.
Saul - all that is right and good in the world, with a passing resemblance to Life of Brian man who hasn't spoken in years.
Dar Adul aka Salieri - what's happened to him?
Fara - once an IT fraud geek, now an intrepid hands-on agent who doesn't keep enough of an eye on her bin bags.
Martha, the nice ambassador
Denis, her nefarious husband
John, second in command at CIA Lahore HQ, we're warming to him
Aayan aka Pi, now sailing the heavenly oceans with a tiger
Sandy, former CIA chief, now pushing up the daisies
Aasar Khan, aka Raza, aka Hot Spooks Guy
Bunran Latif, the General, aka Art Malik
Haqqani, the craggy Taliban leader who prefers to shag next to a bearded man chained to a radiator
Tasleen, aka one of the Kardashians.

Have I missed anyone?

tension three bottles of Tia Maria. Can I join you?!

I'm very confused but I can't think that Dar Adal is a baddie so hope it all comes together in some dark plot to get the baddies, Zaf and Carrie end up in bed and Quinn comes to save me.

Chandon · 21/12/2014 23:13

I am surprised how much I hate Kardash-Tasneem

oneowlgirl · 21/12/2014 23:32

Great episode. What did the recap with Saul & Dar Adal at the start show us?? What did they say or was it just to remind us of who he was?

Merry Christmas & see you next week at 10pm. Smile

rallytog1 · 22/12/2014 07:06

I think the recap showed Saul and Dar Adal talking about the times when you have to decide whether taking out the bad guys is worth the collateral damage to your own people. ie referring to the several times this season where CIA people have had the opportunity to take out Haaqani but haven't because their own people were in the way.

Or you could just posit that the scene was shown at the start so they could include the actor's name in the opening credits without giving away the ending!

I do suspect he's there to deal or assassinate though - it would explain why the US government got everyone out of Pakistan (so they wouldn't have the dilemmas that have plagued them all season) and what's going on that Lockhart knows about.

werenotreallyhere · 22/12/2014 07:17

I think Zaf is in on the assassination

ihatethecold · 22/12/2014 07:36

Salieri is Dar Adal for those confused.

Hassled · 22/12/2014 07:51

Blimey - what an episode. Good to see Max/Chandler fleshed out a bit. I think Zaf knows there's a wider agenda, and that would explain why he wasn't arguing with Kardashian woman re moving Haqqani to a safer location. I don't think Dar Adul is a baddie - he wanted Quinn back when Quinn wanted out, remember, and Saul (who is Good) trusts him.

Haqqani's driver would be there going "I had that Salieri in the back of my cab once".

Does Carrie's "I can't lose you, Quinn!" mean "I love you, Quinn!"?

OP posts:
HalleLouja · 22/12/2014 10:04

I hope it doesn't she loves him.

I am hoping there is still time to get some shots of Zaf half naked though. If that means Carrie has to do one for the team then so be it. Grin

On a more serious note. Maybe Salieri is there to negotiate. As I thought he would be too senior to be taking out the baddies himself.

HalleLouja · 22/12/2014 10:04

I hope it doesn't mean she loves him. Even.

Fiderer · 22/12/2014 10:31

Time for another of Lockhart's WTFF?

Carrie to Quinn was her not wanting to lose any more of her 'people', after her father, Fara, Max, Aayan, rather than a love thing, imo.

Dar Salieri can't have known about the Haqqani plan while being a goodie, surely? The USA would never have allowed the embassy to be attacked.

Zaf refers to a coup.
Lockhart tells Carrie the White House and the Pakistanis are up to something but he's out of the loop.
Heh?

Carrie revealing (even more) of her hair standing above the crowd was just as daft as her suddenly pulling out a gun in the middle of Haqqani supporters.

Zaf did well to recognise Dar S beardless in profile, I had to rewind that bit to see who it was.

TheSpottedZebra · 22/12/2014 10:52

Fiderer you may keep your badge. We all understand that when Zaf is on screen or in the scene, no one tends to look elsewhere.

You might need to be transferred to something less mission - critical however. Perhaps you want to become Carrie's headwear advisor?

Fiderer · 22/12/2014 13:18

No thank you Zebra. I rather think being the liaison with Zaf will help hone my skills. He could certainly teach me redacted

BOFster · 22/12/2014 13:33

Dar Adal is definitely doing some deep deep black ops thing against Lockheart- probably a plot to reinstall Saul? Which would be daft, as Saul looks thoroughly traumatised and like he needs a long sleep.

oneowlgirl · 22/12/2014 14:16

There's no way the US would let the embassy come under attack like that so that wasn't planned / known about in advance.

I think Dar Salieri must be bad as otherwise how would the US have known where to find Haqqani??

I'm thoroughly confused & hope next week is a good finale!

funambulist · 22/12/2014 14:22

Does anyone else thing that Khan looks and sounds a bit like Pierce Brosnan?

Lagoonablue · 22/12/2014 16:09

Dar will be doing some counter spy thing I bet. Don't think he is 'the enemy'. As for Quinn, well there has got to be some Carrie/Quinn passion before the end of the final episode. FFS. They clearly have strong feelings for each other. Plus I would live to see Quinn snogging the face off someone......even if it's not me!

TensionWheelsCoolHeels · 22/12/2014 16:56

I think we'll be left with a great big '?' re carrie & Quinn - it'll just dawn on the pair of them how deep their feelings go but they'll not bump uglies until next season, just to keep us all hooked. Might even be Dar who drops the penny for both of them, seeing as he's already commented to Quinn about his feelings for carrie. It might be the tactic he uses to escape their grasp, assuming he has nefarious intentions re the Taliban leader. If he's trying to do a deal then I don't know how it'll play out as he's hardly likely to find a good time to blurt that out.

deadwitchproject · 22/12/2014 21:03

Another amazing episode, DH and I both sat up and did a Lockheart at the end scene. WTFF!

Dar Adal is definitely cooking up some dodgy negotiations with Haqqani. Not sure about the reason why yet. I've also been thinking that Tasneem Kardashian is a double agent. The only reason for this is that she's just too good at what she does and I can't believe she wouldn't have another agenda. It would be great if she was the double agent and Zaf was just a regular military guy.

ooh I was kinda right about the burner phones, Quinn did work out that he could track Haqqani through them.

I have to avoid this thread until Monday as that's the only time I can watch the episode. I'm going to try and watch the final episode live next week.

OnTheThursdayOfChristmas · 22/12/2014 22:52

Finally caught up.

Jaw on floor

Howaboutthisone · 22/12/2014 23:35

I've just caught up with episode and am now going to catch up with thread as I'm so confused after watching it!

Seriouslyffs · 23/12/2014 01:18

I've not read the last page as I've not seen the penultimate episode. Checking in from overseas where I think I just saw the series finale.
'Twas high up in a bar with the sound off, and I didn't watch. I did see Carrie talking and looking worried and now just have to keep my fingers crossed it recorded.

enochroot · 23/12/2014 02:11

I think Salieri is a fundamentalist plant in the CIA. Saul has been knocked off the top spot and now it looks like Lockhart is on the skids too leaving Salieri to become the top man in the CIA.

It's what Saul et al planned to do to the Iranian secret service.

Blu · 23/12/2014 06:55

But when Zaf held her back from shooting his tone was more re-assuring than alarmed or threatening. It was as if he was saying 'it's ok, it's in hand'.

oneowlgirl · 23/12/2014 08:40

I agree with you Blu about about his tone being reassuring, however I still don't get how Dar would have known where Haqqani was if it weren't for him being a baddie??
