Recommendations for a box set please.

The DC are going away with their Dad for about 9 days over Christmas. Now obviously this would be an ideal time to devote myself to deep-cleaning and decluttering the house, so I need you to save me from that by recommending something fascinating to watch instead.

I like strong female leads, dry and cynical humour, maybe a bit of action and intrigue, quirky characters and a fanciable man or two. Series that I have enjoyed in the past are Buffy, Firefly, Castle, West Wing, Veronica Mars, Northern Exposure and NCIS.

BertieBotts - Dawson's Creek is VERY teenagery but I got immersed in it. Joshua Jackson is adorable in it in a kind of angsty teenage way, but some of the other actors/characters are deeply annoying in a kind of angsty teenage way.

I've just started watching Breaking Bad.
Tried watching the Bridge but I can't cope with subtitles.

That episode made me cry too BertieBotts. The reveal was so perfectly paced.

(Trying not to put spoilers) The birth, or the death? Both got me, actually.

The one with the musician. I was a bit distracted in the birth one by how quick it was, plus I've never given birth so I have less emotional connection, I do get a bit weepy over emotional adoption scenes though.

Ooh that was a different one entirely. The whole series is so emotional, though. I am less keen on series 4 as a whole. Series 3 and 5 are seriously good.

I love Gossip Girl. Love it.

It's over, OVER! I'm watching the special features to try and get a final few glimpses of Joshua Jackson (actually the whole series is full very attractive types with lovely deep, drawling voices).

You all fulfilled my brief very well, the DC land early tomorrow morning and the house is barely any tidier than when they left.

Homeland is good, but a little heavy going in big blocks for me.
