Probably because she's starving. We see this during Ramadan at home. If there's going to be a fight/arguement it will happen at the table as we sit down or just a few moments beforehand.

Real hunger can seriously mess with your head.

Vicki and Edwina were just making conversation about the cooking, E mildly asking if something can be boiled (or whatever) and Mel was determined to hear it as a criticism. And then trying to justify her crabbiness in the whatsit room.

Kendra's letter: was it from her husband (that she's contracted not to reveal if she's still with) or her dad? Or was use of the word 'Papa' designed to confuse us?

I was laughing at all the hopeless predictive text errors, but I went whole hog and just left out the most important word in the point I was trying to make.

Who appointed Mel head chef anyway? She is getting on my tits too. She reminds me of Lucy Pargeter (Chas Dingle) last year, who could be really unpleasant to people once she had it in for them (that Amy woman springs to mind). Mel seems so keen to paint herself as tough and no-nonsense when really she's coming across as harsh and brittle, and downright unpleasant sometimes.
