Loved the books. Didn't think much of the mini film or whatever it was though but will still give it a look. Thanks for the reminder

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 15/09/2014 06:54

Marks placeGrin

SquidgyMummy · 15/09/2014 07:06

loved those books too. thanks for heads up!

AnyoneForTARDIS · 15/09/2014 18:05

saw FITA a few nights ago.

went away from the book a lot didn't they?

although it wasn't as scary as the book so stayed with it!

Who told Heather Graham shes an actress? she cant act for toffee!

and granny wasn't scary enough either.

will be wondering how they handle POTW now.

itsbetterthanabox · 15/09/2014 18:09

I loved the books! Is this a new tv series or is it the old film? Is it very changed from the books?

AnyoneForTARDIS · 15/09/2014 18:12

its not the film with Victoria tenant or whatever her name is.

its a min series type film I think, more recent.

its got the basic premise of the book nd I suppose artistic licence and time and budget made them change bits.

tiffressia · 15/09/2014 18:38

I think it's already been released as I watched it a few weeks ago. I just searched for it.

Dear oh dear. It's unbelievably cheesy. The acting! The actors! Cathy's dancing is She, the actress who plays her, is obviously not a trained ballet dancer (I hope!) and only appears to do the close up parts. It's not in the least convincing.
I think the good thing is that they don't dwell on, or make mention of the, rather dubious, to say the least, relationship mentioned in the book between Cathy and Dr Paul.
I dread to think what the next instalment will be like

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 15/09/2014 19:26

Of course it's cheesy, that's why it's goodGrin

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 15/09/2014 19:28

The actress who plays Kathy looks so much like me at that age it's uncanny, properly freaks me outGrin

itsbetterthanabox · 15/09/2014 20:37

I wish they'd make a film version that properly followed the books and was well done. I think done well it could be really good on film.

EggButty · 15/09/2014 21:12

The first part is repeated on Sunday at 9pm for those of us who missed it.

Thanks for drawing my attention to it. Loved these books as a teenager.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 15/09/2014 21:41

I agree, it could be a really really eerie film.

TeaAddict235 · 15/09/2014 22:08

hurrah, it's back!

Just seen an ad, the woman that plays Cathy is the daughter of Trevor Eve and the lovely blonde actress that used to do the Gold Blend adverts, Sharon something...

vjg13 · 16/09/2014 10:32

Thanks douchbag, watched the first which was trashy but slightly addictive so will definitely watch this!

KEGirlOnFire · 16/09/2014 10:36

How can I watch FITA? I had my 40th recently and two of my DSIS did me a box of nostalgia gifts. Included was the series of books and the first film they did. So how do I watch the latest one, any ideas?

I wonder if we get Lifetime on Virgin...

KEGirlOnFire · 16/09/2014 10:55

I've actually found both of the DVDs (Region 1 - US Imports) on Amazon, FITA and POTW. Just waiting for DH to call me back to confirm whether our PS2 or XBOX 360 will play Region 1s...

Is it worrying that I'm VERY excited??? Grin

douchbag · 16/09/2014 21:43

Oh I didn't know they did a film too. I really enjoyed the first one so can't wait for this on Thursday x

I loved the book of PITW so much that I almost dare not watch the film.

I would be interested in how they cover some seriously dodgy themes that seemed quite understandable in the book, but seem a bit Woah there! in the cold light of day.

Hope they don't ruin it. I didn't mind FITA but only because it wasn't the stupid rush job low budget mash up they did with Victoria Tennant.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 16/09/2014 23:56

The film is on you tube.

tiffressia · 17/09/2014 12:05

Remember, Petals in the Wind is already online to watch, it was released earlier this year (if anybody can't wait until tomorrow Grin)

I agree that an adaptation could be done really well if more faithful to the book. Especially the first book and in a dark Gothic horror style (the follow up books do get a little more soap opera admittedly).

A minor gripe is that Cathy is supposed to be extremely beautiful, with whole sections of the book devoted to describing her glorious hair and appearance. The actress who plays her I think is far from representing the character's beauty, and she should be able to dance...a little even.

AnyoneForTARDIS · 17/09/2014 17:27

Tim Burton could do a really good version and true to the books wouldn't he?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 19/09/2014 11:53

I'm watching, it's hilarious!Grin

Totally agree about the actress who plays Kathy, she's not a dancer is she?Grin

I got it wrong about Trevor Eve's daughter,I think perhaps she's Carrie grown up as I definitely saw her on the ad.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 19/09/2014 12:24

Very steamy!
