jellybelly701 · 04/09/2014 12:10

DP and I thought it was pretty good, its definitely worth a watch. Smile

willwegetthrough · 04/09/2014 13:15

DH and I really enjoyed it too. Enjoyed Lee Ingleby's acting in "Gently" and he's just as good in this.

theatresylvia · 04/09/2014 23:34

It's lovely to watch (I love the fashion of the time, too). It's nice easy viewing. I was very surprised to have enjoyed it.

5Foot5 · 05/09/2014 13:26

I quite enjoyed it too. We were interested because we recognised a couple of the locations they had used to shoot. There was a shot of the outside of Lyme Hall. Also the village which is meant to be near where the zoo, is a lovely village in Cheshire called Great Budworth.

Mrsjayy · 06/09/2014 08:49

Me and dd loved it camel on the truck was hilarious I think by the end of it ill want to visitchester zoo.

LRB978 · 06/09/2014 16:31

Do you all reckon it would be alright for a 12 yr old? Going on the trailer ds would love it, however as it is on after 9, and thus after the watershed I am wondering how suitable it will be. I haven't had chance to watch it yet, although it was recorded on Wednesday night.

picnicbasketcase · 06/09/2014 16:35

I thought it was lovely, nothing inappropriate that I can remember. Looking forward to the next episode.

And yy to wanting to go to Chester zoo!

Mrsjayy · 06/09/2014 19:21

There must have been something on bbc scotland on Wednesday because it was on really late I didn't no it was on at 9 anyway cant see why a 12yr old cant watch it

Mrsjayy · 06/09/2014 19:22

Mrsjayy · 06/09/2014 19:24

Wonder why its on after 9 it has a sunday evening programme feel about it

Davros · 07/09/2014 00:44

DD (11) loved it. We all enjoyed it and wish we had a pet camel

HarrietSchulenberg · 07/09/2014 00:55

I was brought up in Upton, the real village by the real zoo, and we all laughed heartily at Great Budworth standing in for it.
My dad remembers George Mottershead quite well as he grew up in Upton in the 1940s.
In the 1960s (or maybe 50s) they had a chimp that used to escape regularly. Residents of Caughall Road, which led up to the old zoo entrance, used to find him their gardens.

Mrsjayy · 07/09/2014 10:22

Can you imagine going to hang a wash out and a chimp is milling about

Davros · 07/09/2014 19:38

According to the Radio Times, their bison regularly got out and "serviced" the local cows!

Mrsjayy · 07/09/2014 19:45

Ooh baby baison cows Grin

SauvignonBlanche · 07/09/2014 19:46

I don't know why it's on so late, it's Sunday evening family viewing.

CambridgeBlue · 07/09/2014 19:48

We watched it with 12 yo DD and she enjoyed it.

I thought it was pretty good, a bit clichéd in places but I'm looking forward to seeing what happens. Agree it would have been perfect Sunday night viewing.

Groovee · 07/09/2014 19:50

I had to record it through BBC London as BBC Scotland weren't showing it.

Really enjoyed it and can't wait to see the next episode.

MrsWickens · 07/09/2014 19:51

I loved it! Brilliant cast.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 07/09/2014 21:27

They showed it at 11 or something - they were showing the referendum debate.

Mrsjayy · 07/09/2014 22:08

Yes it was on at 20 to 12

ArabellaTarantella · 07/09/2014 23:09

I've always had a bit of a thing for Lee Ingleby Smile This looks to be a brilliant series. Looking forward to it.

curiousgeorgie · 09/09/2014 19:21
