Is there already a thread about it? I couldn't find one.
I can't tell if a) it's easier because it's the first episode, b) it's been dumbed down for BBC2 audiences, or c) I've got really clever Grin

I think they're lulling new watchers into a false sense of security. Next week it'll be all 'atomic weights of semi-previous elements in Serbo-Croat' and 'The Works of Alexandre Dumas sorted in alphabetical order of the ninth word of the fourth chapter as published in German'.

I think it was 'easier' I got about three right because it was the first in the series rather than because it had moved to BBC2. I like to think it's because I've got cleverer, but I couldn't do the connecting wall last night.

Still, glad it's back Smile

I used to get about two scores of three points in the first two rounds. Last night I got five scores of three. I'd love to think it's 'cos I'm cleverer, but know I'm not really. :o I just got lucky. Or they dumbed it down.

I thought the question on 'what comes 4th' about the countries starting with the preceding last letters was unfair! Normally the 4th box is the end of a sequence and with this question you could have had a 5th box, 6th box etc. Also the 3rd box (starting with 'Co') could have been one of at least four countries and to choose the right one and then think of the one that could go in the 4th box would have taken ages if you hadn't straight away thought of Costa Rica! I wasn't happy!

My husband keeps getting more right than me which is making me most grumpy this series. Love this show. There's 27 episodes this time too.

One thing I find very disconcerting is when Victoria Coren says something funny/witty and there isn't even a polite titter from the teams. Tonight she finished with a lighthearted comment about the Cardiff studios and there was complete silence. Not even a guffaw from the camera crew.

Haha sometimes we guffaw but yeah it was a bit disconcerting tonight especially. I love VC. I can't remember where I saw/read it but she was talking about her style on the first series of OC and it was so funny. Apparently she picked up these three trouser suits for £100 or something and they were really badly fitting (and her hair/make up wasn't as groomed as it is now). It's so weird to think because she's sooo glamorous now. DH adores her. So do I.

I wondered about that watching last night's quiz, when the Whovians said they were a team that started on their site and only met each other IRL at the audition.

I got a lot of the questions from last night and felt (briefly) very smug.

I love VCM and wish we could be actual friends as she seems like such a laugh as well as being intelligent and wise. DH adores her too, and we entertain notions of how fab it would be to have her and David Mitchell round for dinner (fab for us, less so for them, most likely...).
