Anyone watching this on BBC4? So far they've shown 2/4. It's yet another missing person police thing and has copied the plot from The Killing without the politicians. Episode 2 was better than 1, mainly because I couldn't believe a parent would drop a 13 year old off at her friend's rather than her grannies for dinner at the last moment just because she didn't fancy what was for dinner without clearing it with granny and the friend's parents.
The parents seem to overact a bit but there's not much on at the moment and it's OK.I like the kid brother and I usually hate child actors, hate his "haircut" though.

I'm really enjoying this just cos the acting is really good. And the way they are showing what happens from different people's views.

Looking forward to the next one........

I've been watching this after seeing it recommended in the papers. I too like the differing viewpoints although I am a little confused over the story that the prisoner told about Amber being in his car when it crashed and who he phoned to apologise to and tell them about the money he'd transferred. Was that his mother?

valrhona · 14/06/2014 20:28

This was shown in Ireland last year. Will be interested to hear people's opinion on the conclusion. Will say no more!

GypsyFloss · 14/06/2014 20:30

valrhona I've read ahead...

Moln · 14/06/2014 20:34

Oooh I think I'll keep an eye on this thread.

2rebecca · 14/06/2014 23:35

When someone was looking at pictures of missing people there was a woman who looked a bit like Amber but older who'd gone missing earlier. I presume it was her or someone like her that he killed when he crashed his car and then buried and the money was for her relatives. They're going to have to give it back or be reluctant to take it when they here it was conned out of parents and friends of another missing teenager though so it all seems rather pointless and unbelievable as a plot line. He didn't seem that stupid.

Ah ok thanks , I saw that picture and wondered whether he had a type he went .

So how did he know about the quote that was on Amber's bedroom wall? Was that clarified and I missed it?

Optimist1 · 15/06/2014 08:37

I'm enjoying it greatly, and am hoping against hope that all the unanswered questions will be resolved in the end! Will watch this thread as we get the next two episodes. Any chance that little boy will be taken to have a decent haircut before the third one's on? Smile

member · 15/06/2014 08:44

Watched the first two episodes on iPlayer last night - the prisoner apparently knew about the lquote as he overheard someone talking about it.

2rebecca · 15/06/2014 09:58

I'm wondering if the best friend is involved somehow because she and her family seem to have gone from being people Amber could pop round to dinner with without an invite at the last minute to people who are reluctant to help in the investigation.

Thanks member .

Optimist1 · 15/06/2014 18:21

Was I dreaming drunk/inattentive, or did the journalist friend make reference to the fact that she was Amber's godmother but hadn't seen her since her christening??

2rebecca · 15/06/2014 19:16

Yes which seems rather crap of her and strange because she seems to be around alot, maybe she moved away and that was a sentence in the first episode that I missed.

Thanks, Rebecca - glad I'm not adding my own plotlines to this complex story!

diddl · 16/06/2014 08:45

I've also seen all four.

How long until everyone else will have?

GypsyFloss · 16/06/2014 18:01

We've got 2 to go diddl.

GypsyFloss · 19/06/2014 16:03

I've decided that I don't have any interest in the outcome of this. I caught up on the 3rd episode last night and it was very dull.

2rebecca · 19/06/2014 19:02

I got frustrated by the slapstick concerning the bloody phone. It was just too stupid. The helper knows they're looking for a phone so sticks one she finds in a drawer and then somehow gives it to a kid to play with who chucks it down the drain. I hate films that are just a series of calamities. Not sure why the Chinese bloke didn't just mail a letter to the amber club telling them he'd posted a phone in their letterbox, or put a letter in with the phone saying I think this is Amber's phone. It was all too stupid. They all seem really thick and careless. The boy is still cute though and I think the hairstyle was better this week.

GypsyFloss · 19/06/2014 19:55

Exactly, it was ridiculous. I thought initially that the helper had kept it, knowing that it was Amber's , to give to her psychic friend. It was really disappointing to see it chucked in the grate by a random small child.

Last week's one began to the relationship between the journo friend and the Dad's business partner and I expected this week's episode to continue that and flesh out the partner's character. Nope, just dismal shots of the Luas instead.

For someone who doesn't give a toss I seem to have a lot of opinions on this Grin

Optimist1 · 19/06/2014 20:12

Well, I've invested three hours of my life in it up till now, so I'll probably go for broke and watch the final episode next week, but agree with PPs that it was a bit disappointing this week.

diddl · 20/06/2014 07:02

The phone business was infuriating, wasn't it?

Optimist1 · 25/06/2014 06:32

I see that my first post on this thread was hoping that the loose ends would be tied up .... hmmm...

diddl · 25/06/2014 06:37

Did you find the ending just a tad annoying??Grin

Optimist1 · 25/06/2014 07:16

If a tad is bigger than a huge thing in the land of giants, diddl, yes I did!!

BOFster · 25/06/2014 08:19

I went to bed hugely pissed off. The ran it over four nights in ireland and annoyed them plenty- four weeks is just gloating. It is particularly infuriating that the no-ending ending is supposed to be bloody CLEVER. No, no, it isn't. It just smacked of some sixth formers on a film course trying to be profound.
