Has your couch come raahh??

IreneR · 30/05/2014 15:26

How amazing -- something like 937 channels on this telly, and not ONE of 'em showing Fed. Well, poo. We raced back from High Culture to catch a little tennis and pack a bunch of suitcases, and we've had to keep "Live Scores" on the laptop while watching the Cilic match. Still, all's well that ends well. Can't help but think RF's going the have to find some major mojo soon, though. A bit lackluster?

Go Cilic! This was fun to watch. To bad about losing on a double fault, though. (I always thought Goran was handsome and all, but he needs to do something about that center parting.)

threebats · 30/05/2014 15:27

Ahhh, poo - I enjoyed that, wish it had gone on longer....

threebats · 30/05/2014 15:27

Irene We both said poo!!!!

Raahh · 30/05/2014 15:28

No three- is coming between 11 and 2 tomorrow. Which is a pain, as it is only day dh is off during all of the dcs holiday. It messes things up for doing anything interesting.

Djok through- crowd were getting a bit noisy. Not the way Cilic would have wanted to lose though.

Raahh · 30/05/2014 15:29

Irene- I agree about the parting!

threebats · 30/05/2014 15:32

Have you got rid of your old couch already? Are you sitting on deck chairs?? I love getting a new couch - you're like this for a while 'Dudes, mind the couch, no eating, drinking and feet off!' Then, after about a month its like this, 'Oh just take it in the living room and eat it will you - for the actual love of God, give me some peace in this kitchen...' :)

threebats · 30/05/2014 15:37

They have shoved Itv in the noisiest bit of Roland Garros EVER.... You just can't hear the interviews man.....

Raahh · 30/05/2014 15:37
Grin I know- I'm actually a bit worried. We have gone for a light-ish fabric one. It will be a disasterGrin

Gulbis- I do like Gulbis, he doesn't take any rubbish. he can be a bit stroppy, but I like him.

I would strangle that clarinet player.

Raahh · 30/05/2014 15:42

I don't remember anyone giving Henman a bad time for having a very well off family, and a tennis court in his gardenHmm

He has a lovely smileGrin

Raahh · 30/05/2014 15:43

oh bollocks. TennisTennis

It's raining. I really shoud start tidying up....

threebats · 30/05/2014 15:49

I love a bit of Tsonga on a Friday afternoon :) Hurry up rain, clear off....

threebats · 30/05/2014 15:50

Raahh You have to take a pic of the new couch when it comes so I can go 'Ohhhhh, that is lush Raahh.....' :)

threebats · 30/05/2014 15:53

^^ I made an attempt at tidying - flirted with the duster like this, 'Why, hello there duster, come see the dressing table with me....' But I gave up when Djok got interesting, sat down and now its as if I am physically unable to move.... I still have about 4 boxes to unpack, pictures to put up and things lost I need to find (poss in those 4 boxes) but I really am just physically unable to move Grin

Raahh · 30/05/2014 16:32

Janowicz is playing very well. Of course, aces help, but he's also coming to the net. Mind you, at 6ft, 10, it's not far from the base line to the net!

MacenroeTheBoatAshore · 30/05/2014 16:56

Im trying to sell MY couch, want to get a sofa bed.

its a nice leather 2 seater, very good condition, brown, if anyones interested! Wink.

Do you think Jim Courier is either brutally honest or a bit bitchy? I cant make up mind about him?

also, the british women. Watson. when they don't win a match they look gutted and say 'I tried my best' etc etc. I cant help thinking they come over all Helen falnnigan on Im a celeb. (of course, I could play better -yeah, right.) they just don't look gutsy enough to me.

do you think they just don't have the desire and fitness regime as other players from other countries? I know Watson had glandular fever or something a while back, and Baltacha (RIP) had genuine illness but.....

No dh :( They're keeping him until poss Monday now - real pain as nothing happens in hospital over the weekend. Thanks for the AdBlocker info - do I need to do anything other than download it (sorry if that's a really stupid question).

Glad BustAGut is out and Gulbis through. Sad to see Cilic go but had to happen really.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 30/05/2014 19:25

No I think I just downloaded it. It will get rid of all you ads though, not just the ones following you. Although not the stupid FB, twitter, g+ sidebar MN have added.

I think the other thing was Ghostery. Not sure how that works though. I think that does just stop websites tracking you.

Raahh · 30/05/2014 20:35

Shame about Simon, at least the crowd got a decent 5 set match.

Am looking forward to tomorrow, although I've a feeling I might end up having to go out and miss everythingSad

Tennis

Stan has a wild card for Queen's- hopefully he will do better there.

JuanPotatoTwo · 30/05/2014 20:51

Marion looks absolutely beautiful - wonder if John feels at all shamefaced talking to her!

I'm glad Raonic won - felt so sorry for him when he won and there was very little crowd support. When he played Stan in Monte Carlo there was hardly any support for him either. I hope he doesn't take it to heart :( (If Ds1 could hear me now he'd tell me I was being ridiculous and that Raonic doesn't need my sympathy - I suspect he's right but still ...)

Raahh · 30/05/2014 21:14

I heard a lot of booing when I was watching- and a lot of noise and Mexican waves happening whilst Raonic was getting ready to serve. it was all very rude.

I was hoping for better things from Janowicz, but it is always lovely to see Jo-Willy smile- but I don't like the silly twirly dance- he's way too tall for than malarkey.

I have also realised that i must have been pronouncing Raonic wrongly in my head- I can't describe it, but they commentary team don't say it the same.

Marion sounded so cheery today, and giggly. I think it's great. At least she knows what she's talking about, and isn't afraid to sound excited.

I'd rather listen to her than Virginia Wade, who always sounds on the verge of nodding offGrin

IreneR · 30/05/2014 23:32

On my tour of Wimbledon, they said that Marion actually went to the reception desk herself to inquire very sweetly about the possibility of getting some tickets for the women's final in which she was participating to give to her family. Usually, players sent Their People; they don't stop by themselves. This seemed to impress the staff no end.

Thanks to that rain delay, I got to see the replay of the final set of Fed vs. TursonRussianGuy on Eurosport. Don't know what type of coverage I can expect in rural Burgundy. Perhaps it will be like the BBC covering Wimby, and even if I only have three channels, one of them will be showing tennis?!

JuanPotatoTwo · 31/05/2014 00:01

How do you say his name Raahh? I guess I say something like Row (to rhyme with how) Nitch. Funny how I've come round to, not only feeling sorry for him, but actually liking him.

Pot has been back on a tennis court for the first time since surgery :) Just having a little practice but good to see him with a racquet in his hand. Although to be honest, it's good to see him whatever - on court, off court, racquet, no racquet, clothes, no clothes

We've had mouse drama tonight. Stupid cat who is afraid of his own shadow apparently brought one in and left it on the stairs. (Although, he's such a coward, I'm tempted to think mouse brought himself in and died of natural causes). Ds2 volunteers to clear up poor dead mouse. So I'm standing in the hallway supervising (from a lovely safe distance) when something comes hurtling past my ear. Simultaneously, ds2 shouts (to the dead mouse) "sorry mate didn't mean to drop you". Mouse lands with a (small) thud on the hall table, missing me by millimetres. Ds2 leaps downstairs, concerned for the well being of the dead mouse, ignores his traumatised mother, picks up dead mouse apologising all the while (to the dead mouse, not to his mother), and walks away cradling the dead mouse like it's his first born or something. Did I mention that the mouse was dead? No doubting where ds2's priorities lay when it boiled down to (dead) mouse v traumatised mother :)

Raahh · 31/05/2014 16:51

Sofa arrived. Is very big. Grin

I've been out most of the day, caught the end of the Nadal match. Vamos- though I panicked in the second.

I like Monfils, but I do there is an element of cheating when a player almost deliberately throws a set in order to conserve energy- and I do think he threw the 4th set.

Tennis

so am in 2 minds about the result here.

Juan- you say Raonic how the commentators do. In my head, it it more like Ray-on-itch.

Raahh · 31/05/2014 16:54

Just spoke my to my mum though, who filled me in on Fognini throwing not just one but 2 racquets and nearly hitting a ball girlShock
