Did anyone watch? New series seems a bit different to the last.

I know it's a bit teenage but that stuff is one of my guilty pleasures Blush

Im in lincs and sound nothing like that Grin

I mean why was the situation making him so angry? If its because he doesnt want rae to get hurt.i think he went a little OTT.
I was frustrated at the end of ep6 because i so wanted rae to go and find her friend!

diddl · 19/03/2014 11:45

I'm also Linc originally & don't sound like that!

There's obviously a variation within the county but I grew up not far from Stamford & I don't think any of us sound(ed) like that!

diddl · 19/03/2014 11:50

That should have been from Lincs...

According to Wiki, Rae Earl went to Stamford High School which is fee paying?

hickorychicken · 19/03/2014 11:56

Well one of the actresses at least iis a manc Grin

Amandine29 · 19/03/2014 12:51

I think she got a scholarship to Stamford High School. In the book she says they lived in a council house and were fairly poor. This is one thing that doesn't really fit in the tv version...she's always wearing converse/leather jackets etc but in the book her mum couldn't afford nice clothes for her. And the tv house isn't a council house.

Real life Chloe is from Liverpool I think. And Finn and Chop are Manc. Rae's English accent is really northern as well. Archie and Izzy are a bit more neutral.

The school used to take 50 girls and 50 boys each year on scholarship, with the council paying their fees. It went down to 25 and doesn't happen anymore.

I didn't know Rae - I'm three years younger.

hickorychicken · 19/03/2014 16:12

one of the other gang of girls is manc x

hickorychicken · 19/03/2014 16:12

MINUS THE KISS.
Am texting my sister at the same time grrr

Amandine29 · 19/03/2014 17:47

The one that used to be on Coronation Street? Stacey, Finn's ex I think.

Love this show so much Grin

Rummikub · 19/03/2014 22:16

Gone off Liam now!

Chickens123 · 21/03/2014 07:09

I love it. My favourite telly prog at the moment.

scully81 · 21/03/2014 15:58

I love this programme! I was 17 and at college in 1996 so this all feels very familiar and I can definitely see alot of my teenage self in Rae!
The last episode was so sad, poor Rae :( And so sad how she had to dump Finn even though she really liked him. I hope he comes back from Leeds and they get another chance. And he's so pretty too ;)

hickorychicken · 25/03/2014 10:22

Watched episode 7 this morning and cried a lot, again. Really had me sobbing haha.
Amazing show, fabulous actors,beautifully written.
A lot of people on the fb fan page want a 3rd series but i think this ended just perfectly.

Elsiequadrille · 25/03/2014 20:09

It really doesn't need a third series as it all finished so well. Though I am sad it ended so soon.

weesazz · 29/03/2014 00:47

Love this programme so much. Watched episode 7 and cried. I agree, I don't think it needs a third series but sad it's over - mind you, the scriptwriting is so tremendous they would more than likely do a third season justice.

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/03/2014 06:22

I've still got last episode to record on the planner Monday night

Have you all watched the last episode?

diddl · 29/03/2014 08:10

I haven't seen the last ep.

Will record Mon & watch tues.

Rummikub · 31/03/2014 23:49

Just watching last episode now. Have cried several times!

BrennieGirl · 31/03/2014 23:52

I've just watched the last episode. Such a good ending. I had a big stupid grin on my face all through the last scene. Great writing and acting.

Rummikub · 01/04/2014 00:03

Ha ha so did I! I am grinning through teary eyes. I so loved this show.

Erm, I think I want series 3....

diddl · 01/04/2014 14:50

It wsas excellent, wasn't it?

I wonder how much of it really happened?

I think a 3rd series might veer too much into soapland!

hickorychicken · 01/04/2014 20:33

Rae Earl said that with the second series she gave the producer "themes", so probably not all that much. I'm dying to know where all the other people are, what happened to her and fin etc.
Ive seen her on the E4 clips and she is so confident :D

diddl · 02/04/2014 06:47

I'm reading the book atm & there's not an awful lot of correlation so far!

QueenFuri · 02/04/2014 21:19

Just watched the last episode it was brilliant really well acted. I've enjoyed both series and part of me wants a 3rd series but the ending was perfect it doesn't really need one!
