My dd is only 14 and throughout the series we've had some really interesting chats about Jim. She hasn't watched but has heard bits and pieces. I love that she can see why he's not a worthy winner and it's not because I brainwashed her

Yes but Dappy also has a chequered life Anne but everyone conveniently overlooks it (sexist comments to Luisa early on, abusive texts, court appearances, etc) yet no-one drags them up all the time.

Jim was roundly criticised for the "bathing" comments yet Lionel chose to go in the over 18 room and made the suck my dick comment to a girl young enough to be his granddaughter and, although everyone went yuk, no-one thought it was that seedy.

I agree Jim has a horrible reputation and have said that I thought he was awful when I met him but he does seem to be held to different standards on Mumsnet to others
