So who watched

I recorded it and just watched it with dh. Basically, Andrew Lloyd Webber (always thought he was a prat, haven't revised my opinion) looking for a new Maria for The Sound of Music in the West End.

Oh it was lovely - you must watch. I cried my eyes out at this lovely 17 year old called Bryony (the sort of 17 year old you fear doesn't exist any more) who had such bad nerves, but knew the role inside out and was Maria - and ,bless her, came back on at the end even though she'd been rejected and said "can I have another go?" (she said in the musical Maria says "when God closes a door he opens a window" and she was trying to find the window...)

Even dh shed a tear...

I can't wait for next week's. Did anyone else watch it???

That's the second time that's happened - I think it's inverted commas (will test in a minute)

Missing words:

HOW DO YOU SOLVE A PROBLEM LIKE MARIA?

(Saturday, BBC1, 6.50pm)

And Graham Norton was so funny. Like when the panel were deciding on a (very attractive) girl - he's doing this 'voice over'...

"So...could you sing again...and make yourself comfortable...take your clothes off...maybe we can discuss it over dinner"

I'm talking to myself again, aren't I?

oh shit on a stick i missed it. would have loved that programme, is it repeated?

marthamoo · 01/08/2006 00:18

I got back to goal today - incidentally. 9 stone 7. But I'm going on holiday next week and then to the ILs so it won't last...

OP posts:
marthamoo · 01/08/2006 00:19

Don't know if it's repeated but you must watch next Saturday - it was so fab. It's on at bedtime o' clock but you can record it.

Heathcliffscathy · 01/08/2006 00:25

Grin
Turquoise · 01/08/2006 00:28

I was agog with every minute of it, can't wait for next week.
Can't help the miserable cynical old hag in me wondering if Bryony has already been chosen though and it's all a set up?
LOvewd loved loved GN taking the piss out of the sleazebag slimeball producer.

Heathcliffscathy · 01/08/2006 00:28

i do love you mm.

you were my first replying poster 3 years ago i think.

you're one of the people i most admire in the world for the ability to be unremittingly kind but actually pretty naughty too and not in the least boring or pompous with it.

you rock

now. stop saying it won't last and start giving yourself the huge pat on the back you deserve

Turquoise · 01/08/2006 00:30

Oops. Conversation has moved on
Story of my life

marthamoo · 01/08/2006 00:30

Awww, I love you too soph Did I really? Three years? Fuck me.

Turquoise, agog is exactamundo right - I thought the very pretty girl might win though, can't remember her name. She had that indefinable 'something' and, damn her, she could sing too.

Didn't think Andrew LW did much to dispel his image as a knob though.

marthamoo · 01/08/2006 00:33

I was responding, turq - can't type fast after half a bottle of wine, y'know

I love moo too, soph

Missed the prog, though there was a radio version (pictures not as good) yesterday

Turquoise · 01/08/2006 00:34

sorry - was just feeling a bit daft. I actually came on here at the weekend convinced there'd be a thread on this, so got very over excited to see yours.

marthamoo · 01/08/2006 00:34

The way he couldn't be arsed to even attend the auditions then over-rode the panel and rang up the rejects...

And how funny was it with Graham Norton's sotto voce comments on the Sarah Brightman lookee-likeee?

OP posts:
Turquoise · 01/08/2006 00:36

Yees! Fabulous to have someone actually saying what I was thinking - and especially about that creepy producer.

marthamoo · 01/08/2006 00:36

Janh, will you watch the programme next week? You do not have the excuse of small chiddlers needing putting to bed at 7.

I lovesh you, too (and I've even met you IRL)xxx

OP posts:
marthamoo · 01/08/2006 00:37

Turquoise, even if no-one else watches it we'll talk about it after, OK? (though I'm away most of August so don't worry if I don't post about it for ages, I'm still watching! I'll take notes...)

OP posts:
Turquoise · 01/08/2006 00:39

Hell yeah. But Bryony MUSt win.
